ECG Monitoring and Real-Time Wireless Transmission System for Ambulance

    Get PDF
ECG is the most vital parameter, and it gives information about the current condition of the patient. The ECG measuring instruments available today are of high cost and hence there is a need to build an economical system. The patient has to be continuously monitored and the data has to be immediately sent to the doctor in the hospital to analyze and suggest any first aid, which will help the crew in the ambulance to take necessary action according to the doctor’s suggestion. Also, the doctors at the hospital are informed of the severity of condition of the patient and hence can make appropriate preparations for the treatment, particularly in cases of life-threatening medical conditions like circulatory shock. Thus, in this project we have built ECG monitoring system to process the ECG signal in the ambulance and have used zigbee wireless communication to transmit the signal to the hospital server. Inculcating Research Culture with an Outcome-Oriented Technical Project Evaluation Framework

    Get PDF
The Outcome of the Teaching-Learning Process of any specific subject or course is measured using a standard statistical method, the majority of which relies on the marks obtained by each learner, according to procedures and guidelines defined by numerous national-international consortiums, boards, or councils for Outcome-Based Education (OBE). Rarely has it been linked to documentary evidence demonstrating the attainment of competency expected to emerge following successful completion of the course. At the same time, a significant number of technical institutes across India are in desperate need of good research, which leads to massive publications, IPR, startups, and cash. For the previous few decades, the faculty has been the torchbearer for the cause. The paradigm is changing toward learners now that NEP 2020 has been implemented. Students\u27 projects are now solemnly regarded as a major contributor to research and a source of creativity. Calculating the outcome of project-based courses and analyzing them with sufficient transparency to produce researchbased results is a mammoth task. To improve the institute\u27s image, the article developed a novel technique for outcome-oriented technical project evaluation that focuses on instilling a research culture among the learners. Get PDF
This investigation concerns the development of sustained released floating matrix tablets of Baclofen for improving its bioavailability by prolonging gastric residence time. Floating matrix tablets (FMT) of Baclofen were prepared using 32 optimization designs.Carbopol 934p, HPMC K4M and gas generating agents such as sodium bicarbonate and citric acid were used in formulation. The fabricated tablets were evaluated for their physical characteristics such as hardness, drug content, buoyancy, swelling properties and in vitro release studies in 0.1N HCl. The tablets without gas generating agents and HPMC K4M did not float at all. Tablets with gas generating agents and HPMC K4M and Carbopol 934p floated up to 12 h without complete erosion and showed slower drug release. HPMC K4M and Carbopol 934P maintain the integrity of the FMT and sustaining the drug release. The increase in the concentration of HPMC K4M and Carbopol 934p in FMT from 75 mg to 125 mg and 20 mg to 60mg respectively resulted in decrease in release rate of drug. The possibility of drug polymer interaction was determined by differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrometer, and confirmed no interaction between drug and polymers. The mechanism of drug release is mainly described by diffusion and swelling mechanism of polymers

A REVIEW ON: ATRIGEL–THE MAGICAL TOOL

The widely effective and most common form of drug delivery is parenteral administration for active drug substances with poor bio-availability and the drugs with a narrow therapeutic index. Though parenteral administration of drug is often critical and associated with problems such as limited number of acceptable excipients, stringent requirements of aseptic production process, safety issues, patient noncompliance. Still this route maintains its value due to special advantages like quicker onset of action in case of emergency, target the drug quickly to desired site of action, prevention of first pass metabolism etc. The application of advanced drug delivery technology to parenteral administration lead to development of liposomes, nanosuspensions, solid implants etc. to overcome limitations of conventional parenteral delivery. Solid implants are reported to produce very reproducible release profiles. However, because of their size, they require surgical implantation or the use of large trochars to administer the product. Delivery systems consisting of microparticles can be injected into the body using conventional needles and syringes and have been the most widely accepted biodegradable polymer system for parenteral use. However, the manufacturing processes for microparticles are often complex and difficult to control leading to batch-to-batch product non uniformity. These methods of administration often limit the product's market potential due to patient and physician acceptance issues. Therefore, a delivery system that combines the simplicity and reliability of solid implant devices alongwith convenience and ease of administration of microparticles is desired. In situ gel forming systems represent a desired alternate. This article gives the idea about In situ gel forming system to provide drug release in sustained release manner

    Get PDF
Various stretching technique have been used to improve muscle flexibility in rehabilitation and sports .Mechanisms involving the efficacy of a stretching technique were studied and certain conclusions indicate one technique better than the other. The aim of the present study was to measure hamstring flexibility after giving Myofacial Release Technique (MFR) and Mulligan Bent Leg Raise (BLR) and comparing the effects between the two techniques. A study was conducted among 30 asymptomatic physiotherapy students ranging from 18 – 25year of age with bilateral hamstring tightness and were randomized to one of the two groups- Myofacial Release Technique (n=15) and Bent Leg Raise Technique (n=15).Hamstring Flexibility was measured using Sit And Reach Test before the treatment after a week of treatment and follow up at the end of 2nd week. Analysis revealed that both Myofacial Release Technique and Mulligan Bent Leg Raise Technique has improved hamstring flexibility bilaterally, but Mulligan Bent Leg Raise Technique was more effective than Myofacial Release Technique as there was significant increase in flexibility after giving Mulligan Bent Leg Raise Technique

Effervescent Floating Drug Delivery System: A review

Effervescent floating drug delivery systems release gas CO2, thus reduce the density of the system and remain buoyant in the stomach 2 for a prolonged period of time and released the drug slowly at a desired rate so it can be used to prolong the gastric residence time in order to improve the bioavailability of drug. In the present article we will discuss in detail about effervescent agent and mechanism of effervescent floating drug delivery system. Oral sustained release gastro-retentive dosage forms offer many advantages for drugs with the absorption from upper parts of the gastro intestinal tract. Gastric emptying is a complex process and it is highly variable. The floating drug delivery systems are useful methods to avoid this variability which increases the retention time of the drug delivery systems for more than 12 hours.  This review article is in pursuit of giving detailed information on the pharmaceutical basis of their design, classification, advantages, in vitro and in vivo evaluation parameters, and application of floating systems, and applications of these systems. These systems are useful to several problems encountered during the development of a pharmaceutical dosage form and the future potential of FDDS. At attempt has been made in this review article to introduce the readers to current development in floating drug delivery system, Keywords: Effervescent system, Floating drug delivery system, Effervescent agent, floating lag time, Gastric residence time

    Ethosomes: Transdermal Drug Delivery System

    Get PDF
The skin is one of the most extensive and readily accessible organs of the human Body. One of the greatest disadvantages to transdermal drug delivery is the skin's low permeability that limits the number of drugs that can be delivered in this manner. Ethosomes as novel vesicles in transdermal drug delivery show significant effects on drug penetration through the biological membrane. Now-a-days we better know vesicles have importance in cellular communication. Ethosomes, Although ethosomes are conceptually sophisticated, they are simple inpreparation and safe for use. Transdermal route is promising alternative to drug delivery for systemic effect. An attempt was made to formulate the highly efficient ethosomal drug delivery system and enalapril meleate is used as model drug. Ethosomes have higher penetration rate through the skin as compared to liposomes hence these can be used widely in place of liposomes. Ethosomes enhanced skin permeation, improved drug delivery, increased drug entrapment efficiency etc Ethosomes have become an area of research interest, because of its enhanced skin permeation, improved drug delivery, increased drug entrapment efficiency etc. The purpose of writing this review on ethosomes drug delivery was to compile the focus on the various aspects of ethosomes including their mechanism of penetration, preparation, advantages, composition, characterization, application and marketed product of ethosomes. Characterizations of ethosomes include Particle size, Zeta potential, Differential Scanning Calorimertry, Entrapment efficiency, Surface tension activity measurement, Vesicle stability and Penetration Studies etc. Keywords: Transdermal Drug Delivery System, Ethosomes, Drug absorption&nbsp
