Technology and Application of Transition Metal Oxide of W-V-O as Functional Layers and NiO Thin Films as Counter Electrode Material in Electrochromic “Smart Windows”

    Get PDF
AbstractThe present study is related to preparation and investigation of mixed W-V-O films, deposited on conductive glass substrates by atmospheric pressure chemical vapor deposition. The presence of lower-temperature precursor V(CO)6 lead to faster growing of the mixed oxide film. The results show two times higher growth-rate compared to single oxide of WO3. The color efficiency calculated is 20 cm2/C, optical modulation 65.2%. Vibrational spectra studied by Raman and FTIR spectroscopy show Raman peaks and absorption bands revealing monoclinic WO3 and orthorhombic V2O5 phases, separately existing in the mixed oxide film structure. The surface morphology is observed by AFM. Films transmittance and reflectance characterization are performed. For the counter electrode in the EC, NiO films are deposited electrochemically. The UV-VIS-NIR optical measurements performed in the spectral range of 300 - 1000nm show that films possess transmittance in the range of 70% - 85%. This high transmittance of the counter electrode film would contribute to the needed high initial optical transmittance of the “smart window”

Resonance magnetophoretic is a new instrumental method that uses an extremely low frequency (<100 Hz) and low intensity (<100 Gauss) magnetic field generator (ELF) to increase the permeability of the cell membrane. It is used in medical cosmetics as well as in the treatment of osteoarthritis, traumatic and incised injuries to the muscles, tendons, and fascia, and discogenic pain in the spine with a muscular or neurological origin. This review examines the effects and benefits of using this therapy

Provoked by the controversy over the difference between a beautician and a medical beautician, we decided to conduct a survey using the following methods: literature, magazines, documents and anonymous surveys. The subject of our study are 100 male and female respondents aged 16 to 60 + from different locations in Bulgaria

    Application of plants in cosmetics

    Get PDF
Undoubtedly, the cosmetic industry is one of the most widespread industries and an integral part of our daily lives. Since ancient times, and even today, the application of herbs has been gaining great popularity in medicine. Due to their healing properties herbs have a high value and are preferred by people of all ages. The purpose of this report is to find out whether people are familiar with the composition of bio-cosmetics and what their opinion about it is. For this purpose, we conducted a survey based on a set of questions people were supposed to answer. It covered 71 people aged under 18 to over 59. 66 of them were women (92.96%) and 5 were men (7.04%). The results show that 88.73% of the respondents have used bio cosmetics, and those who have not are not familiar with its constitution. Is society well-acquainted with the benefits and the practical applications of plants? Is there enough information about this type of cosmetics on the market? We will try to answer these and other closely related questions in our research

Dry Skin - Problems and Solutions

Dry skin (Ñ…erosis cutis) is a common problem a`ecting people art di`erent age and of di`erent skin types. he reasons for dry skin can be natural (physiological), pathological, or related to the inquence of unfavourable environmental factors. he purpose of the paper is to elaborate an algorithm for diagnosis and management of patients with dry skin of various etiology. A retrospective search in the following data-bases was carried out: MEDLINE (PubMed) of the National Library of Medicine (USA), Consilium-Medicum (Russia) and Russkij meditsinskij zhurnal (Russia). When the diagnosis of dry skin is made, usually, one takes into consideration the disturbance of the hydratation of the corneal layer (10%) only. his parameter can be considered as a screening tool only and should not be the only criterion for choice of therapy. he pathophysiological changes are assocaited with disturbace of the epidermal barrier, incerase of the transepidermal water loss and pH alterations of stratum corneum. he basic diagnostic criteria are the following: transepidermal water loss and fatty secretion level (i.e., normal, low or high). hese parameters should be born in mind in the selection of treatment and can be assessed through the application of rapid real-time invivo methods such as TEWL-metry and sebumetry. he recent research achievements demonstrate that natural moisturizing factor, ceramides and aquaporins are the key factors for skin hydratation. he chouice of therapy in patienst with dry skin is a great challenge. It is strictly individualized. Treatment errors could lead to patient`s status worsening

Pearl powder - an innovation in medicine and dermatocosmetics

Introduction: Pearl powder has been known for more than 2000 years, including as a remedy in traditional Chinese medicine. Nowadays, pearl powder raises serious scientific interest due to its unique characteristics and properties. The main natural sources include shells and pearls of mussels, oysters and molluscs. Aim: The aim of this paper is to evaluate the literature referred in the last 10 years in MEDLINE (PubMed), Scopus and Web of Science-referred literature data bases. Materials and Methods: Abstracts and full text publications on the topic were reviewed. Results: Pearl powder is considered an active substance with numerous actions, including moisturizing, whitening, anticonvulsive, antioxidant, sedative, antiosteoporotic and osteogenic effects. It stimulates regeneration and wound healing and is shown to have anti-aging properties. In addition, pearl powder modifications via nanotechnology demonstrate considerable changes in absorption and bioavailability. Conclusion: Pearl powder application is an innovation in both medicine and dermatocosmetics. Combined with nanotechnology it can become even more effective
