    A reconfigurable dual output low power digital PWM power converter

    This versatile power converter controller provides dual outputs at a fixed switching frequency and can regulate either output voltage or target system delay (using an external L-C filter). In the voltage regulation mode, the output voltage is monitored with an A/D converter, and the feedback compensation network is implemented digitally. The generation of the PWM signal is done with a hybrid delay line/counter approach, which saves power and area relative to previous implementations. Power devices are included on chip to create the two independently regulated output PWM signals.     A Resolution-Reconfigurable 5-to-10-Bit 0.4-to-1 V Power Scalable SAR ADC for Sensor Applications

    A power-scalable SAR ADC for sensor applications is presented. The ADC features a reconfigurable 5-to-10-bit DAC whose power scales exponentially with resolution. At low resolutions where noise and linearity requirements are reduced, supply voltage scaling is leveraged to further reduce the energy-per-conversion. The ADC operates up to 2 MS/s at 1 V and 5 kS/s at 0.4 V, and its power scales linearly with sample rate down to leakage levels of 53 nW at 1 V and 4 nW at 0.4 V. Leakage power-gating during a SLEEP mode in between conversions reduces total power by up to 14% at sample rates below 1 kS/s. Prototyped in a low-power 65 nm CMOS process, the ADC in 10-bit mode achieves an INL and DNL of 0.57 LSB and 0.58 LSB respectively at 0.6 V, and the Nyquist SNDR and SFDR are 55 dB and 69 dB respectively at 0.55 V and 20 kS/s. The ADC achieves an optimal FOM of 22.4 fJ/conversion-step at 0.55 V in 10-bit mode. The combined techniques of DAC resolution and voltage scaling maximize efficiency at low resolutions, resulting in an FOM that increases by only 7x over the 5-bit scaling range, improving upon a 32x degradation that would otherwise arise from truncation of bits from an ADC of fixed resolution and voltage.United States.     In vitro studies on antioxidants and free radical scavenging activities in the extracts of Loranthus longiflorus desr. bark samples obtained from two host trees

    Antioxidant compounds and their free radical scavenging (FRS) activities in various solvent extracts of Loranthus longiflorus bark samples collected from Casuarina equisetifolia and Ficus religiosa host trees were assessed. The results obtained confirm the presence of total flavonoids, total phenols and total tannins in all extracts at different proportions. Among the extracts tested, ethyl acetate extract shows maximum total phenols (301.25mg/g and 307.27mg/g) and total tannins (11.46mg/g and 204.83mg/g),while chloroform extract favours more amount  of flavonoids (18.92mg/g and 26.13mg/g) in Loranthus bark samples collected from the host Casuarina and Ficus, respectively. Among the extracts of Loranthus bark samples, collected from Casuarina and Ficus, ethanol extract shows maximum scavenging activity on DPPH (4681.8% and 4890.6% at 1500µg), on Hydroxyl (49.37% and 55.58% at 250 µg), ethyl acetate (49.79%) and water extract (48.28%) on Nitric oxide (at 250µg) and ethanol (33.71%) chloroform (34.85%) on Superoxide (at 250 µg), respectively, as compared to other extracts. All the FRS activities, tested, were concentration dependent. The inhibitory concentration (IC50) was determined in ethanol extracts as 5.70µg/ml and 5.32µg/ml for DPPH-FRS activity; as 34.34µg/ml and 38.35 µg/ml for HO-FRS activity, as 108.93µg/ml and 104.32µg/ml for SO-FRS activity and ethyl acetate extract as 188.5µg/ml and 116.1µg/ml for NO-FRS activity of Loranthus bark samples collected from Casuarina and Ficus, respectively, than other extracts, tested. The ferric reducing antioxidant power of Loranthus bark samples, from Casuarina and Ficus hosts, was maximum in ethanol extract (4053.53 and 4199.03mMol Fe (II)/mg extract, respectively) than other extracts tested. These results indicate that the host trees, on which the hemiparasite infested, influence the variations in antioxidant constituents and free radical scavenging activities of L. longiflorus bark extracts

    This study analyses the Indian Scientists contributions of research papers related to the topic in Data Mining was undertaken from Web of Science Databases has been used to retrieve the data for 22 years (1999-2020) by the searching the keyword “Data Mining”. The study reveals that, most of the researchers preferred to publish their research results in journals; as such 88.59% of articles were published in journals. More numbers of articles were published in the year 2019. The authorship trend shows that, out of total 1096 literature published, 95.53 % of the publication published under the joint author. It is observed that author productivity is not in agreement with Lotka\u27s law, but productivity distribution data partially fits the law when the value of Chi-square to 25212.62.     This study revealed importance of information sources among the biological faculty members and research scholars of Madurai Kamaraj University. In this studies the relative importance of information sources among the biologist on the basis of statistical tests concludes that the personal attributes of biologists such as designation, gender, age, qualification, subject, experience, nature of work and nature of research in a university level have bearing on the use of information resources. The results show that position and education are good predictors of information use while professional experience has little power in explaining variations in information source use. The findings of the study support the notion that information source use is a result of complex set of interactions among variables. The examination of the interaction of some of the variables such as education, position, and experience provides insight in understanding the factors that influence the use of information sources. The study reveals that the Reprints/Prints, Abstracting and Indexing Journal, primary periodicals, Newspaper, Dictionaries, Subject Bibliographies and Monographs / Text books were the sources of information which were most frequently used by the largest majority of the biologists

    An embedded energy monitoring circuit for a 128kbit SRAM with body-biased sense-amplifiers

    Embedded energy monitoring of critical system components can be used to enable better power management by capturing run time system conditions such as temperature and application load. In this work, an energy sensing circuit that provides digitally represented absolute energy per operation of a 128kbit SRAM is presented. Designed in a 65nm low-power CMOS process, SRAMs can operate down to 370 mV. Energy sensing circuit consumes 16.7μW during sensing at 1.2V (only 0.28% of SRAM active power at the same voltage). For improved performance, SRAMs utilize body-biased PMOS input strong-arm type sense amplifiers that can achieve 45% tighter input offset distribution for only ~3.5% of total SRAM area overhead.United States.
