Problems in the Lifshitz Theory of Atom-Wall Interaction

Problems in the Lifshitz theory of atom-wall interaction arise when the dc conductivity of dielectric wall is included into the model of the dielectric response. We review the low-temperature behavior of the free energy and entropy of dispersion interaction for both dielectric and metallic walls. Consistency of the obtained results with thermodynamics and experimental data is analyzed. Recent attempts to include the screening effects and diffusion currents into the Lifshitz theory are considered. It is shown that this leads to the violation of the Nernst heat theorem for wide classes of wall materials. Traditional masculinities and men’s sexism: A meta-analysis

Traditional masculinities (TM) are a set of meanings related to men. The power attached to these meanings operates to maintain the inequality of gender relations. Previous studies have reported a positive correlation between traditional masculinities and men’s sexism, limiting women’s personal and professional opportunities. To quantify this relationship, a meta-analysis was conducted using 107 independent samples (mainly from the U.S.) from 21,078 men, reported in 44 manuscripts between 1984 and 2021. Although we observed that TM positively correlated with men’s sexism, there was wide variability in effect sizes. An examination of potential moderators revealed that the relationship was significantly different between different forms of TM. The relationship between sexism and conformity to masculine norms and traditional masculinity ideology was stronger than the relationship with gender role stress. Further, TM were more strongly related to forms of sexism that reflect overt negative attitudes toward women (old-fashioned and hostile sexism) than to forms that reflect covert sexist attitudes (modern and benevolent sexism). Moreover, the link between TM and sexism was stronger in the general population than in student samples. Strategi Menjaga Kesehatan Mata Anak SD Di Era Digital

Abstract The development of digital technology has brought significant changes to the lifestyle of elementary school (SD) children. The use of electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets and computers has become an integral part of daily work. However, it is increasingly important to be aware of the negative impact of excessive screen exposure on children's eye health. The aim of this research is to identify effective strategies for maintaining the eye health of elementary school children in the digital era. In short, it can be said that maintaining the eye health of elementary school children in the digital era is a challenge that requires serious attention. The data collection technique involves collecting several previous studies to answer strategies for maintaining eye health for elementary school children in the digital era. The research results are that with an approach that includes education, supervision and adequate rest, we can mitigate the negative impact of screen exposure on children's eye health. It is hoped that the results of this research will provide valuable guidance for parents, teachers and relevant stakeholders to protect children's eye health in an increasingly digital era.   Abstrak Perkembangan teknologi digital membawa perubahan signifikan pada gaya hidup anak sekolah dasar (SD). Penggunaan perangkat elektronik seperti smartphone, tablet, dan komputer sudah menjadi bagian tak terpisahkan dalam pekerjaan sehari-hari. Namun, semakin penting untuk mewaspadai dampak negatif paparan berlebihan layar tersebut terhadap kesehatan mata anak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi strategi efektif untuk menjaga kesehatan mata anak sekolah dasar di era digital. Secara singkat dapat dikatakan bahwa menjaga kesehatan mata anak Sekolah Dasar di era digital merupakan tantangan yang memerlukan perhatian serius. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan cara mengumpulkan beberapa penelitian terdahulu untuk menjawab strategi menjaga kesehatan mata anak SD di era digital. Hasil penelitian yakni dengan pendekatan yang mencakup edukasi, pengawasan dan istirahat yang cukup, kita dapat memitigasi dampak negatif paparan layar terhadap kesehatan mata anak. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan panduan berharga bagi orang tua, guru, dan pemangku kepentingan terkait untuk melindungi kesehatan mata anak-anak di era yang semakin digital.

Results of the method of transanal Haemorrhoid dearterialization for treatment

Purpose: Hemorrhoidal disease is a polyetiologic disorder at active age. Recently, the methods of hemorrhoidal artery ligation (HAL) and transanal hemorrhoid dearterialization (THD) were introduced. The aim of the present study was to analyze the initial results from THD treatment of hemorrhoidal disease.Material and methods: The study covered 26 patients, 14 males and 12 females, at a mean age of 46 years, with hemorrhoidal disease. Physical examinations, rectal examination and colonoscopy were preoperatively performed. THD was done of 6 arteries along with mucoplication of the distal rectalmucosa.Results: There were no early postoperative complications requiring surgery. Patients` complaints were dominated by low to medium pain not requiring any narcotic analgesics. One patient reported bleeding and pain necessitating re-hospitalization on the 11th day and conservative treatment without blood transfusion. Five patients reported mild pain complaints and 7 ones complained of discomfort in the anal area until the end of the second week. In two patients a residual mucous prolapse up to the 6th month without other symptoms was found out.Conclusion: THD is an effective and minimally invasive method after which application mild to moderate pain and good patient`s comfort are reported. The relative share of the intra- and postoperative complications is low
