Die Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk en sy bediening in ’n toekomstige Suid-Afrika: Die visie van ‘Kerk en wêreld 2000’
The Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk and its ministry in a future South Africa: The vision of Kerk en wêreld 2000Kerk en wêreld 2000 (Church and world 2000) served as a report to the General Synod of the Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk in 1986 on the future socio-economic and political scenario in South Africa and the Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk’s role in the changing situation. This article consists of a cursory discussion of the report and some concluding remarks. The book is found to offer a frank analysis of future developments and a rare insight into the Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk and its understanding of its ministerial role within the new situation. The book displays a pastoral rather than a missionary slant
Die godsdienswetenskaplike aspek van teologie
Religio-scientific aspects of theologyTheology cannot pronounce the science of religion an irrelevant matter, as that would amount to an indifference regarding the missionary task, on the one hand, and on the other hand would demonstrate ignorance regarding its own nature. Theology is being practised in the area between faith and science. Theology consists of the reflexion of faith and religio-scientific investigation finely balanced. Reflexiveness, a radicalizing of reflectiveness, entails that theology will acknowledge this and explore its implications. Confessional theology must provide for a 'theological science of religion' within its ranks
Enkele grondbeskouings van Johanna Brandt se denke
Some basic concepts of Johanna Brandt’s thinkingJohanna Brandt was the wife of a well-known Transvaal minister of the Nederduitsch Hervormde Kerk during the first half of the twentieth century. During 1916 she had a number of visionary experiences which influenced the rest of her life. She was visited by a ‘celestial messenger’ and finally by the ‘Son of God ’ himself who anointed her with the gift of prophecy and called upon her to devote her life to proclaming the message of salvation and hope to South Africa and the world. She entertained some highly unorthodox theological ideas: She reformulated the Trinity as God the Father, God the Son (Christ) and the Holy Spirit (God the Mother). Apart from God transcendent (explained in pantheistic and naturalistic terms) she also spoke of God immanent, that is in man. Her (mystic) message of salvation was: Man must seek heaven within himself

Indigenisation and inculturation: implications for theology and church
Although the intimate bond between Church and culture was realised
quite early on, it only became a theological issue after missionaries like
Xavier, Ricci and DeNobili experimented with accommodation and adaptation
in the East. In the 20th century their ideas surfaced again in the
concepts of indigenisation and inculturation, that is, of Church and theology
amongst peoples and cultures of the Third World. This development
led Western theology to realise how historically and culturally contextualised
Western ecclesiastical, doctrinal and theological traditions
actually were. This in tum led to a fundamental rethinking on Church
and culture, and again, on contextualisation; indigenisation and inculturation
as missionary principles.Spine cut of Journal binding and pages scanned on flatbed EPSON Expression 10000 XL; 400dpi; text/lineart - black and white - stored to Tiff

Epidemiologiese studie van vergiftigings in kinders onder 18 jaar in Bloemfontein en omgewing
An epidemiological study of the incidence of poisoning in children in the Bloemfontein area during 1 year was carried out. Deliberate and accidental poisonings were studied relative to: (I) age and sex of poisoned children; (il) type of poison involved; and (iil) the time the poisoning occurred. This study showed that deliberate poisoning occurred more frequently in girls than in boys (67,5% v. 32,5%), that accidental poisoning occurred mostly in the preschool years and then more frequently in boys than in girls (65,1% v. 34,9%) and that drugs were involved in most poisonings
Development of a resource agent for an e-manufacturing system
Due to globalisation and distributed manufacturing systems the development and manufacture of products is no longer an isolated activity undertaken by either one discipline or a single organization but has become a global process. Using e-manufacturing companies can now outsource to manufacturers outside their geographical area and make them dependent on the production capabilities and responsiveness of the suppliers. Hence there is need for the suppliers to provide reliable information on the state of the orders being processed. E-manufacturing promises companies to exchange the required information with their suppliers by increased visibility to the shop floor and providing a platform for information interchange. The paper discusses the development of an e-manufacturing resource agent to enable manufactures to predict the probability of their outsourced machinery being available and the probability to complete an order without having a breakdown. The Maintenance Free Operation Period (MFOP) method is used to develop the agent. This means that the manufacturer will be expected to have a guarantee that no unscheduled maintenance activities will occur during each defined period of operation with the predefined level of confidence
