Abstract Background and Aims Dermatological surgeons must master the factors affecting wound healing. Suturing is the most common method of wound closure. One of the significant factors in suturing that affects wound healing and cosmetic results is the distance between sutures, which has been studied very little to date. The aim of the current study was to investigate the effect of simple interrupted suture with a distance of 2 and 5 mm on the esthetic and functional results of suture closure in different age groups. Methods In patients with two skin lesions, one wound was sutured with a distance of 2 mm and the other with a distance of 5 mm, and the wounds were evaluated 1 and 3 months after the operation using the POSAS scale. Results Patients' opinions indicate that, in the suture intervals of 2‐ and 5‐mm and at 1 and 3 months, the average was lower in the younger group than it was in the older group and also, as per the physician's opinion, the average in the age group under 50 years was significantly lower than that in the age group over 50 years. Conclusions According to the results of the present study, a suture of 2‐mm and a suture of 5‐mm would result in different esthetic and functional outcomes depending on the patient's age. The average in the age group less than 50 years was significantly lower than that of the age group greater than 50 years

Introduction: Nausea and vomiting are the most common complications of pregnancy. In order to minimize the consumption of chemical drugs and prevent their side effects in pregnant women, this study was conducted with aim to compare the effect of Ondansetron versus Ginger on nausea and vomiting in pregnancy.         Methods: This double-blind clinical trial study was conducted in 2018 on 110 pregnant women with nausea and vomiting in 10-15 weeks of pregnancy who referred to health family clinics of Bandar Mahshahr. Women were randomly assigned to two groups of ginger (n=55) and ondansetron (n=55). The ginger group used 9 tablets of 500 mg consisting of dry ginger powder for three days (once every 8 hours) and the ondansetron group used 9 tablets of 4 mg ondansetron for three days (once every 8 hours). Data collection tool included a demographic questionnaire and a Rhodes index questionnaire which assessed the severity and frequency of nausea and vomiting before entering the intervention and twice a day during the study. Data were analyzed by SPSS software (version 22(, using Mann-Whitney, Wilcoxon, and independent t tests. P<0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: The mean score of the Rhodes index in the ginger group decreased from 12.61 ± 3.7 to 5.43 ± 6.23 and in the ondansetron group from 14.5 ± 4.73 to 3.89 ± 3.86 (p<0.001). Therefore, ginger was as effective as ondansetron in reducing the frequency and severity of nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Conclusion: Both ginger and ondansetron are effective in treating nausea and vomiting of pregnancy and the effect of ginger and ondansetron is the same with a very small difference

Background. Obesity is considered as a low grade inflammation condition. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of nutritional education on diet quality and biomarkers of inflammation in Iranian obese women. Method. Sixty obese women voluntarily participated in this randomized clinical trial and were randomly assigned to intervention or control group (n=30). Intervention group was instructed to attend nutrition education sessions (1 hr/wk, for 3 months) in small groups. Diet quality scores were measured by Healthy Eating Index (HEI). Anthropometric indices and serum concentration of hs-CRP, TNF-α, and adiponectin were measured at the baseline and end of the intervention. Results. There were no significant differences in anthropometric indices of participants between the two groups at the end of intervention (P>0.05). However, the total HEI score was significantly higher in the educated group compared to the control group after intervention (P<0.05). The educated group also showed significant lower concentration of TNF-α and hs-CRP and higher levels of adiponectin than the control group at the end of study (P<0.05). Conclusions. Our results provide limited evidence that higher dietary quality contributes to reduced inflammation in obese women. This effect could be independent of the weight loss

The increasing prevalence rate has made diabetes a world epidemic. Considering diabetes complications and associated effects on patients’ quality of life, this interventional study was performed to promote the life quality using education based on the Precede model in the rural areas of Andimeshk. This experimental study was conducted on 120 patients with type II diabetes who were randomly allocated to the experimental and control groups. The data were collected using two questionnaires including the Precede model framework and Short Form health survey (SF-36). The precede model-based intervention composed of six educational sessions (60 to 90 minutes a session). The patients were followed up for three months post-intervention and examined for glycated hemoglobin (Hemoglobin A1c or HbAlc). After educational intervention, the mean score of quality of life had a significant increase in the experimental group compared with the control group. The mean scores of Precede model constructs inpatients of the experimental group increased significantly after the intervention compared with the before intervention. Moreover, the mean score of HbA1c improved significantly in the experimental group compared to the control group. The present study indicated that the educational intervention program based on the Precede model has a positive effect on quality of life among diabetic patients
