    Chia (Salvia hispanica L.) is an annual herbaceous plant considered as a natural omega-3 fatty acids, fibers, proteins and antioxidants source. However, cultivation in Brazil is still recent and the existing information and technical recommendations are limited, mainly regarding fertilization. Therefore, the present work aimed the phosphorus rates application effect on the genes expression responsible for chia plants lipid synthesis. The experiment was conducted at farm of Universidade Estadual de Maringá at the Regional Campus of Umuarama, Paraná, Brazil. The experimental design was a completely randomized design with four and five replications. The treatments were composed of four rates of P2O5 at sowing (0, 40, 80 and 120 kg ha-1). The expression of the genes responsible for lipid metabolism OLE1 and MGAT.A chia (Salvia hispanica L.) é uma planta anual herbácea considerada como fonte natural de ácidos graxos ômega-3, fibras, proteínas e antioxidantes. No entanto o cultivo no Brasil ainda é recente e as informações e recomendações técnicas existentes são limitadas, principalmente a respeito de adubação e época de semeadura. Portanto, o presente trabalho objetivou avaliar o efeito da aplicação de doses de fósforo na expressão de genes responsáveis pela síntese de lipídios da cultura da chia. Foi conduzido o experimento em na Fazenda de Universidade Estadual de Maringá no Campus Regional de Umuarama. O solo usado no experimento é um Latossolo Vermelho Distrófico típico, com textura arenosa. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado com quatro e cinco repetições. Os tratamentos foram compostos por quatro doses de P2O5 aplicados na semeadura (0, 40, 80 e 120 kg ha-1). Foi avaliada a expressão dos genes responsáveis pelo metabolismo de lipídios OLE1 e MGAT.     Use of mufla oven calcination method in oil quantification of chia seeds

    Chia (Salvia hispanicaL.) is an annual herbaceous plant considered as natural omega-3 fatty acids source. To quantify this oil in seeds, a time-consuming method involving financial costs with chemical reagents is used. The objective of this work was verifying existence of correlation between the quantification of oil in chia seeds by means of the Soxhlet method with the ash mass of these seeds obtained by calcination in a muffle oven. For this, samples of chia seeds and the oil quantified by Soxhlet were collected. The same samples were calcined in ash. The simple correlation test was performed, obtaining linear regression. To method validation, a completely randomized design experiment was carried out. The treatments were to quantify the oil by the Soxhlet method and calcination in the muffle using the equation obtained. The objective was to verify the existence of correlation between the oil content of chia seeds, obtained by the Soxhlet method with ash content obtained after burning in the muffle and, therefore, the validation of this method of determination. There is a significant positive correlation between the oil content obtained by Soxhlet method and the ash mass of chia seed.     APLICAÇÃO DE BORO VIA FOLIAR NA CULTURA DO CRAMBE CULTIVADO EM LATOSSOLO ARENOSO

    Crambe is a winter crucible, with high oil content that serves as source of raw material for biodiesel production. It attracts the attention of the producers for having short cycle, which varies from 90 to 100 days. The experiment was carried out to verify crop development, submitted to the application of boron leaf application, as there is no information about the use of micronutrients. It was carried out in the municipality of Umuarama - PR, in a field whose soil is the typical dystrophic Red Latosol, arranged in a randomized complete block design with five replications. The treatments were the boron rates (0, 40, 80, 120 and 160 g ha-1), applied by leaf. Dry mass production, mass of 1,000 grains, yield and oil content were evaluated. Under the conditions that the experiment was conducted, it was verified that crambe respond positively to boron, between the rates of 96 and 135 g ha-1O crambe é uma crucífera de inverno, com alto teor de óleo que serve como fonte de matéria prima para a produção de biodiesel. Vem chamando a atenção dos produtores por ter ciclo curto, que varia de 90 a 100 dias. Foi executado o experimento visando verificar o desenvolvimento da cultura, submetida à aplicação de boro via foliar, pois não há informações acerca do uso de micronutrientes. Foi realizado no município de Umuarama – PR, em campo cujo solo é o Latossolo Vermelho distrófico típico, disposto em delineamento experimental em blocos casualizados com cinco repetições. Os tratamentos foram as doses de boro (0, 40, 80, 120 e 160 g ha-1), aplicadas via foliar. Foram avaliadas a produção de massa seca, massa de 1.000 grãos, produtividade e teor de óleo. Nas condições que o experimento foi conduzido verificou-se que o crambe responde positivamente ao boro, entre as doses de 96 e 135 g ha-
