AbstractAdsorption of bovine serum albumin (BSA) on nanosized magnetic particles (Fe3O4) was carried out by a chemical coprecipitation procedure. Characterizations of magnetic particles were carried out using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), photon cross correlation spectroscopy (PCCS) and SQUID magnetometer. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were used to confirm the attachment of BSA on magnetic particles with the stabilising surfactant. The effect of magnetic particles covered by BSA on the amyloid aggregation of the hen egg white lysozyme was investigated. The process of aggregation was followed in vitro by an assay based on the dyes Thioflavin T and 8-anilinonaphthalene-1-sulfonic acid (ANS). We found that magnetic nanoparticles significantly reduced amyloid aggregation of lysozyme up to 70%
