    Nationality Value Depicted in When English Rings a Bell Textbook: Content Analysis

    In recent years, there has been a growing interest in the integration of moral values into language textbook. This study aims to investigate the value nationality values in When English Rings a Bell (revised 2017) textbook for eighth-grade of Junior High School based on the curriculum 2013 that the Ministry of Education and culture published. This research used the content analysis method to analyse the value nationality in the textbook, and the interviews togain the English teachers perceptions on the value nationality values and how it applies to “When English Rings a Bell” (revised 2017) textbook to strengthen the result of research. The finding show that the most dominant percentage of value nationality values based on the seven indicators are related to being love of Indonesia which found (43%), followed by the willingness to sacrifice after the country (27%), pride of the motley culture (11%), receive the complex (7%), proud of being Indonesian (5%), prioritizing public interest (5%). In contrast, the least percentage was the values of heroes (0%). Those values depicted in “When English Rings a Bell” textbook aresocioculturally ingrained in Indonesian culture and appropriate to be implemented for eighth-grade Junior High School students in the teaching-learning process because it has value nationality values in each chapter which correlate to the curriculum 2013

    Students’ perception on TPACK practices on online language classes in the midst of pandemic

    This study investigated technological pedagogical and content knowledge (TPACK) practices during the current COVID-19 pandemic and examined factors influencing students’ perceptions of effective online learning. This study gathered the primary data from 90 university students from four study programs via the online questionnaire. Using an analysis of variance (ANOVA) statistical tool for data analysis, this study found that students’ perceptions of their teachers’ teaching performance in the fully online programs are not significantly different across four study programs. This finding implies that regardless of their study programs, the students had expected that teachers should pay attention to some vital aspects in online learning: using the same learning management system (LMS) for all study programs, and preparing designing practical online modules, taking care of the organization of teaching inputs that promote students’ critical thinking, delivering various teaching inputs and methods, intensifying teachers’ presence in monitoring students’ learning progress, motivating students to learn, and promoting teacher-student mutual respect through effective communication. This study also revealed that teachers play a pivotal role in achieving effective online learning during the pandemic

    AbstractAccording to the survey data of east java community groups with 92,29% of student respondents of east java, almost all students wanted creative and innovative online learning methods to make student study more comfortable, the basis of this research is the same as Indonesian efforts to receive industrial era 4.0. this research is classified as classroom action research with two-cycle. In the early stage of the entry behaviorist test, the student scored good, excellent, and perfect is 0%, and after the activities of cycle one and cycle two implemented, a student there was in grades good score. They got a pore score of 30 students, 25 students got a good score, 30 students got an excellent score, and 15 students got a perfect score. we can conclude, students have increased almost 30 % in every cycle. Keywords: Mobile-Assisted Language Learning (MALL), Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar, English Learning. AbstrakSesuai hasil data survey kelompok masyarakat Jawa Timur dengan responden pelajar Jawa Timur sebanyak 92,29 persen, hasil dari kegiatan tersebut hampir seluruh siswa menginginkan pembelajaran kreatif dan inovatif agar siwa mampu belajar dengan nyaman. Hal tersebut yang melandasi dilaksanakanya penelitian ini. Implementasi Penelitian Ini sejalan dengan upaya Indonesia menyongsong era industri 4.0, Penelitian ini tergolong penelitian Tindakan kelas dengan 2 siklus. Pada tahapan awal atau Entry Behavioris Tes, siswa yang mendapat nilai dengan standat baik, sangat baik dan sempurna masih 0%, dan setelah dilakuknya kegiatan siklus 1 dan siklus 2 dengan Mall (mobile assisted language leraning), siswa-siswi mulai ada peningkatan nilai, yakni siswa yang berhasil mendapatkan nilai cukup ada 30 siswa, siswa yang berhasil mendapatkan nilai baik terdapat 25 siswa, sedangkan siswa yang memperoleh nilai sangat baik terdapat 30 siswa, dan siswa yang mendapatkan nilai sempurna terdapat 15 siswa, dalam setiap sikulsnya nilai ulangan siswa – siswi mengalami peningkatan hampir 30%.
