AbstractThis paper deals with the issue of macroeconomic evaluation of projects regarding the construction of traffic infrastructure and equipment. The objective of traffic infrastructure projects is to ensure the improvement of public welfare and decrease the negative impacts on the environment. Individual projects must be developed properly therefore the particular elements need to be analyzed in detail. In the paper, the evaluation of projects is made on the basis of comparing the costs on construction of the traffic infrastructure with benefits which the construction will bring, i.e. the macroeconomic aspects within the decision-making process regarding the investments need to be quantified on the basis of Cost – Benefit analysis

Impact of the Economic Situation in the Slovak Republic on Performances of Railway Transport

    Get PDF
The paper deals with analysis of the development of performances in freight rail transport in comparison with the development of gross domestic product as the main indicator measuring the economic performance of the country and on the other hand the performances in passenger rail transport in relation to the development of the average monthly wage as one of the most important indicator characterizing the living standard. The change in demand for transport services is analyzed with respect to the change in the price of the ticket in passenger rail transport and also the change in the price for transport of one tonne of goods in freight rail transport

Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Passenger Transport

Functional transport systems represent an important place in terms of the population mobility and generate a prerequisite for the economic-related development among individual regions. Population mobility increase in recent decades also pushes a question regarding the sustainable development of various world economies. However, a growing need to travel brings negative environmental impacts and points to the necessity for environmental protection. Technological premise creates the prerequisites for organizing, operating, and managing traffic and transport with as little negative environmental impacts as possible and helps to create a system of sustainable mobility. An option to develop transport systems consists in the implementation of innovative technological solutions applied within passenger transport processes

Decision-Making Process in the Case of Insufficient Rail Capacity

One of the main priorities of transport policy in the EU is to take measures to support railway transport as an environmentally friendly transport mode. An interesting challenge for a railway transport operation is represented with cost items for its operation. This problem is exacerbated if transport flows are routed through a congested railway infrastructure. If some or all transport takes place on congested rail infrastructure, the carrier’s costs increase, which may ultimately lead to withdrawal from the market. The article deals with the impact of insufficient capacity on the rail carrier’s costs. We used a pre-cost calculation methodology to calculate the rail carrier’s additional costs due to the insufficient railway network capacity based on detailed calculation of train costs and proposed a methodology for carrier decision-making in case of insufficient rail infrastructure capacity. The case study showed that the use of a diversion track in case of insufficient planned rail line capacity may not be advantageous for carriers, even with a longer waiting time for capacity to be released. One of the ways to eliminate the negative effects of congested railway infrastructure is investment in the increase of its capacity

CONTROL OF MODULAR CONVEYOR AND AUTOMATED HANDLING DEVICES INTERCONNECTION

    No full text
The paper focuses on modular conveyors, mainly dedicated for the transport of parcel goods of various properties. Accent will also be put to their use in processes where the belt's resistance to higher temperatures or to mechanical damage is required. The solution is aimed on the use for installation in larger transport units, production as well assembly lines. The proposal of the conveyor design allows to handle different line sections (bends, broken sections, etc.) using a single drive. The conveyor track will be solved with aim to the transport of goods (products) by means of automated trolleys. A proposal for the synchronization of the conveyor track with an automated handling device will be presented, which will ensure the final phase of the production chain, the relocation of production to the warehouse of finished products. The authors will focus on the calculation of subsequent intervals for automated means of handling as well on determining the capacity of the conveyor track
