Higher school as a social institution aims at the formation of the most valuable resource of the XXI century that human capital is. Students are now an influential group of young people, and taking into consideration students’ “advanced” status, its social activity (including network) and socio-political and socio-economic potential, we can assume that it is the student youth, which de- termines the youth “agenda”. This makes constant research of students relevant and important, both at the theoretical and academic level of sociological science and at the level of applied knowledge focused on the constant monitoring of social well-being, lifestyle, values, opinions and activity of students in specific universities and in a whole country. Students are active participants of economic and social life; they have a significant political potential. The authors present the results of the monitoring of social well-being of first-year students at Kazan national research technological University. The method applied was a questionnaire study with the use of electronic resource. The article also dwells on the current state and trends of student studies, as well as the processes of their institutionalization. The authors emphasize the importance of sociological surveys of student life conducted with the help of student sociological labs

    No full text
The paper has been prepared on the basis of its authors' great experience in working in various areas at a technical university. It represents the result of long-term research and reflections on improving the legal support for engineering activities through developing the new forms of interaction between legal experts and engineers or between teaching staff and the management of engineering universities. The authors estimate the conventional approaches to organizing the teaching of future engineers legal disciplines as non-complying with the requirements of the modern engineering activities, and propose both to revise the contents of the existing courses and modify the organizational set-up of universities. Particularly, they propose to depart from traditional dividing into socio-humanistic and technical chairs and create an interdisciplinary department. Teaching legal disciplines at an engineering university is, in our opinion, necessary and actual. However, they should be taught focusing on developing legal literacy in students as future experts in engineering. This would require retraining the teachers of law, their active interaction with the representatives of engineering sciences, and conducting relevant scientific and applied research. Training of humanities majors studying at engineering universities should be transformed in a similar way: They have to acquire the basics ofengineering knowledge to increase their competitiveness on the labour market

The paper is devoted to the study of urgent problems of innovation activity stimulation on the example of agricultural universities as an important condition for the improvement of the efficiency of the agro-industrial complex and the development of the agricultural industry in general. The ambitious tasks for a significant increase in labor productivity in the agricultural sector, as well as the creation of high-tech jobs are impossible without proper staffing and scientific support. The effective import substitution and maintaining food independence is impossible without the introduction of new technologies, a significant increase in labor productivity in agriculture and the increase in the attractiveness of rural life. These challenges and priorities set the agenda for the formation of requirements for the system of agricultural education and new competencies of youth and teachers. In this regard, the problem of innovative activity of agricultural universities is being updated not only as a source of highly qualified personnel for agriculture, but also as centers for the development of innovations in this area. In paper, it is shown that systemic problems in the field of education are organically linked with the transformations of university science in the second half of the 20th century, when the basic principles and approaches to the organization of scientific research in universities were laid down. It is pointed out that despite numerous attempts to intensify science in agricultural universities, there are a number of constraining factors that affect their potential in the development of innovations in the agricultural sector

The article presents the results of research into the impact of the digital economy and Industry 4.0 on the education system as a global mechanism and on the tangible segment of the sectoral economy – agriculture. The aim of this study is to determine the main directions of education system transformation both structurally and substantively under the influence of the digital economy and Industry 4.0. According to the results obtained, Russia’s entry into the digital world system is hindered by a number of factors, including the lag of the Russian Federation from world’s major economies in breakthrough technologies, the shortage of staff with specialization in “Industry 4.0” and the level of digital culture development. The development of agro-industrial complex’s digital economy, provided by modern technologies, including robotics and artificial intelligence, entail high productivity, increased efficiency, safety and convenience. But on the other hand, it also raises complex questions about the broader impact of digitalization on the labor market in the agro-industrial complex, skills and competencies

The main purpose of this study is to determine the best practices of social regulation of negative consequences for modern biotechnology use based on a comparative review of European and Russian legal regulations on food safety. The paper gives original classification of risks of biotechnologies introduction in agriculture, namely: food, agricultural, environmental, patent, social and ethical ones. Although risk assessment systems have been in use for some time, consumers do not always trust the results. One explanation for this is that in the past many national food safety systems had problems with timely notification of certain products’ potential hazards. In many countries, social and ethical views can be the reason for rejection of certain products, manipulation of genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Such conflicts often reflect deeper issues about the interaction of human society and nature – issues that must be fully taken into account in any attempt at social communication. Authors offer a mode of social control and consensus in the form of agrobioethics, similar to bioethics in biomedical technologies
