    Long-term trends in international production

This paper describes long-term trends in international production, i.e. the production of goods and services that is under the governance of transnational corporations - either through foreign direct investment (FDI) or non-equity arrangements. It recounts the rapid growth in international production, the increasing importance of non-equity arrangements, and the shift towards services. The paper then examines the geography of FDI, emphasising that EU countries have emerged as a major source and destination of FDI - a process shaped considerably by EU integration. New EU members from Central and Eastern Europe received substantial FDI inflows in the transition from plan to market. Recognising FDI opportunities that emerged for these countries from regional integration, the paper takes a cautionary stance as to whether these countries can expect increased FDI inflows following EU accession

Today, when various sciences are being developed with lightning speed, we think of their significance and of how they can be applied in everyday life. Teacher’s prestige is one of many questions that have been raised before this day science. We are going to review the problem briefly in the light of the investigations that have been conducted in some European countries. Moral prestige is most important in pedagogy. Behaviour of a person who has the sort of prestige becomes an example for other people. Its fabulous force influences other people’s modes of thought and deeds. The author aimed at answering the question: ‘Does living within a totalitarian system influence people’s mentality and, if yes, how?’ The hypothesis offered to be proved was as follows: ‘In post-totalitarian societies people are more dogmatic and represent antidemocratic positions than in the countries of old democracy’.Danas, kada se različite znanosti munjevito razvijaju , razmišljamo o njihovom značaju i kako se one mogu primijeniti u svakodnevnom životu.

Inward FDI in Poland and its policy context, 2012

Good economic performance, one of the best in European Union (EU) economies during the global crisis of 2008-2009 and the subsequent economic slowdown in Europe in 2009 and 2010, did not save Poland from experiencing a decline in foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows during 2008-2010. Inflows in 2010, at US9billion,wereonly38 9 billion, were only 38% of their peak value of 2007. In 2011, inflows started to recover, reaching US 14.3 billion. In 2010, the FDI stock in Poland surpassed US$ 200 billion for the first time and was by far the largest among the stocks held in the new member economies of the EU from Central and Eastern Europe. Economic prospects of Poland are favorable, but the ongoing debt crisis and the continuing economic slowdown in Western Europe, the dominant home region for multinational enterprises (MNEs) investing in Poland, put a question mark on the strength of any further recovery of FDI inflows

Ouachita broke ground on a 144-bed, $12.6 million student apartment complex in August, with plans for it to be open for the Fall 2022 semester. The apartments are phase two of Project Foresight, an initiative the university launched three years ago. Project Foresight encompasses eight acres and 30 properties on the southwest edge of campus, including many that were vacant or seriously deteriorated

WAKE DETECTION USING CONVOLUTIONAL NEURAL NETWORKS

Advances in engineering and technology have made acoustic detection of submarines increasingly difficult. Using hydrodynamic signatures created by propagating submarines is an alternative method for submarine detection. Detection based on hydrodynamic signatures may also offer unique tactical advantages, given the tendency of wakes to persist for long timescales. Artificial neural networks trained on velocity field data show promise to automate detection. We used numerical simulations to generate velocity data on wake, jet, and convective turbulence. All these forms of turbulence have similar characteristics in the velocity field, yet their spectra reveal subtle differences that could be exploited for wake identification purposes. We then trained a convolutional neural network with the simulation results and demonstrated that neural networks can classify turbulent flows based on small-scale features with high accuracy. In particular, we find that the developed algorithms can successfully identify wakes in 92% of cases, which implies that the AI-based technology is viable and ready for the transition to the analysis of the experimental and field data.Office of Naval Research, 875 North Randolph Street, Arlington, VA 22203Lieutenant Commander, United States NavyApproved for public release.
