At present, there are an ever-increasing number of tunnel expansion projects in China. Studying the mechanical properties of the expanded tunnels is of great significance for guiding their safe construction. Through model testing and numerical simulation, the mechanical properties of a double-arch tunnel constructed through the expansion of the middle pilot heading from an existing single-tube tunnel were studied. The variation characteristics of the surface subsidence, surrounding rock stress, and stress and strain of the middle partition wall and lining during the tunnel reconstruction and expansion were investigated. The mechanism for transferring stress and strain between the left and right tunnel tubes was studied by a numerical simulation method. The results showed that the surface subsidence caused by the excavation of the left (i.e., the subsequent) tunnel tube was larger, and the maximum surface subsidence occurred at the right (i.e., the first) tunnel tube. The surrounding rock on the middle wall was the sensitive part of the tunnel excavation, the stress of the surrounding rock at the left spandrel of the right tunnel tube fluctuated and exhibited the most complex variation, and the stress of the surrounding rock at the right spandrel of the left tunnel tube exhibited the largest variation. The excavation of the left tunnel tube had a great influence on the forces of the middle partition wall and the lining structure of the right tunnel tube, the middle partition wall was subjected to eccentric compression towards the left tunnel tube, and the stress at the left spandrel under the initial support of the right tunnel tube exhibited complex variations. The excavation of the left and right tunnel tubes had a great influence on the stability of the surrounding rock, as well as on the force-induced deformation of the middle partition wall and the support structure, within the width of the single tunnel tube span behind the tunnel working face. Due to the different construction sequences, the stress and strain at the symmetric measurement points of the middle partition wall, as well as the left and right tunnel support structures, were very different

In wireless Ad Hoc networks, large number and flexible mobility of terminals lead to the rarity of wireless channel resources. Also the hidden and exposed terminal problem exists in the Ad Hoc network which is the major factors restricting its development and applying. Considering these factors, this paper proposes a new CSMA protocol: multi-channel two-dimensional probability CSMA for wireless Ad Hoc network protocol based on three-way handshake mechanism, and analyzes the system throughput, delay of information packet, energy consumption and other properties under the control of the proposed protocol. By using the cycle analysis method, computer simulation results not only verify the theoretical analysis, but also show that the protocol has the optimum performance. The proposed protocol can not only reduce the collision probability of information packets to some extent, improving the channel utilization, reducing the waste of channel resources, but also achieve the balancing of load in a variety of wireless Ad Hoc network services, meeting the needs by different priorities with different QoS, and ensuring the systematic efficiency and fairness

AbstractThe present study aimed to evaluate the importance of cyanidin 3-glucoside (C3G) of diabetic cardiomyopathy in diabetic rats. The rats were induced with diabetic using streptozotocin and total triglyceride (TG) and total cholesterol (TC) were determined. The range of myocardial enzymes such as aspartate aminotransferase (AST), creatine kinase (CK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LD) were also estimated, further, the Immuno histochemical analysis and western blot investigation were determined for the actual activity of C3G. Results indicated that the marker enzymes such as CK, LD and AST were significantly (P<0.05) increased in STZ administered rats (DM group), while the levels of these elevated marker enzymes of cardiac injury significantly (P<0.05) declined in the DM+C3G group, as compared to the diabetic group of rats. Additionally, a decrease in the level of TNF-alpha and interleukin-6, was noticed in the C3G treated group as compared to diabetic group. Finally, blotting analysis clearly confirmed that theC3G treatment resulted to higher level response of Bcl-2 and lower level response of caspase-3 and BAX. In conclusion, C3G a natural antioxidant may prevent cardiovascular complications by ameliorating oxidative damage, inflammation, metabolic dysfunctions and apoptosis pathways in type 2 diabetes

The Gram-negative bacterium Riemerella anatipestifer is an important waterfowl pathogen, causing major economic losses to the duck-producing industry. However, little is known of the virulence factors that mediate pathogenesis during R. anatipestifer infection. In this study, RAYM_RS09735 and RAYM_RS09740 were predicted to form a two-component signaling system (TCS) through bioinformatics analysis. This TCS was highly conserved across the Flavobacteriaceae. A mutant YMΔRS09735/RS09740 strain was constructed to investigate the role of the RAYM_RS09735/RAYM_RS09740 TCS in R. anatipestifer virulence and gene regulation. The median lethal dose (LD50) of YMΔRS09735/RS09740 was found to be >1011 CFU, equivalent to that of avirulent bacterial strains. The bacterial abundances of the YMΔRS09735/RS09740 strain in the heart, brain, liver, blood, and spleen were significantly lower than that of the wild-type R. anatipestifer YM strain. Pathological analysis using hematoxylin and eosin staining showed that, compared to the wild-type, the mutant YMΔRS09735/RS09740 strain caused significantly less virulence in infected ducklings. RNAseq and real-time PCR analysis indicated that the RAYM_RS09735/RAYM_RS09740 TCS is a PhoP/PhoR system. This is a novel type of TCS for Gram-negative bacteria. The TCS was also found to be a global regulator of expression in R. anatipestifer, with 112 genes up-regulated and 693 genes down-regulated in the YMΔRS09735/RS09740 strain (~33% genes demonstrated differential expression). In summary, we have reported the first PhoP/PhoR TCS identified in a Gram-negative bacterium and demonstrated that it is involved in virulence and gene regulation in R. anatipestifer

A comparative analysis of near-infrared image colorization methods for low-power NVIDIA Jetson embedded systems

The near-infrared (NIR) image obtained by an NIR camera is a grayscale image that is inconsistent with the human visual spectrum. It can be difficult to perceive the details of a scene from an NIR scene; thus, a method is required to convert them to visible images, providing color and texture information. In addition, a camera produces so much video data that it increases the pressure on the cloud server. Image processing can be done on an edge device, but the computing resources of edge devices are limited, and their power consumption constraints need to be considered. Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)-based NVIDIA Jetson embedded systems offer a considerable advantage over Central Processing Unit (CPU)-based embedded devices in inference speed. For this study, we designed an evaluation system that uses image quality, resource occupancy, and energy consumption metrics to verify the performance of different NIR image colorization methods on low-power NVIDIA Jetson embedded systems for practical applications. The performance of 11 image colorization methods on NIR image datasets was tested on three different configurations of NVIDIA Jetson boards. The experimental results indicate that the Pix2Pix method performs best, with a rate of 27 frames per second on the Jetson Xavier NX. This performance is sufficient to meet the requirements of real-time NIR image colorization

Machine Learning for Prediction of Sudden Cardiac Death in Heart Failure Patients With Low Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction: Study Protocol for a Retrospective Multicentre Registry in China

Introduction: Left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) ≤35%, as current significant implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) indication for primary prevention of sudden cardiac death (SCD) in heart failure (HF) patients, has been widely recognised to be inefficient. Improvement of patient selection for low LVEF (≤35%) is needed to optimise deployment of ICD. Most of the existing prediction models are not appropriate to identify ICD candidates at high risk of SCD in HF patients with low LVEF. Compared with traditional statistical analysis, machine learning (ML) can employ computer algorithms to identify patterns in large datasets, analyse rules automatically and build both linear and non-linear models in order to make data-driven predictions. This study is aimed to develop and validate new models using ML to improve the prediction of SCD in HF patients with low LVEF. Methods and analysis: We will conduct a retroprospective, multicentre, observational registry of Chinese HF patients with low LVEF. The HF patients with LVEF ≤35% after optimised medication at least 3 months will be enrolled in this study. The primary endpoints are all-cause death and SCD. The secondary endpoints are malignant arrhythmia, sudden cardiac arrest, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and rehospitalisation due to HF. The baseline demographic, clinical, biological, electrophysiological, social and psychological variables will be collected. Both ML and traditional multivariable Cox proportional hazards regression models will be developed and compared in the prediction of SCD. Moreover, the ML model will be validated in a prospective study. Ethics and dissemination: The study protocol has been approved by the Ethics Committee of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University (2017-SR-06). All results of this study will be published in international peer-reviewed journals and presented at relevant conferences
