Dyslipidaemia was correlated to the posterior circulation infarction in non-diabetic populations

    No full text
Abstract Background Diabetes mellitus (DM) was prone to happening in posterior circulation infarction (POCI) and DM also has the impact on the lipids, our study was to investigate the correlation between lipid compositions and POCI. Methods Data was collected from the patients with acute ischemic stroke (AIS) hospitalization in Affiliated Drum Tower Hospital of Nanjing University Medical School from October 2008 to May 2012. Lipids and other risk factors in the different populations were investigated in relation to occurrence of POCI based on the infarction location. Results Six hundred ten patients with AIS were included in this study, which had 428 with anterior circulation infarction (ACI) and 182 with POCI. Elevated Triglyceride (TG) and decreased High density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) were seen in the POCI of total populations and AIS without DM compared to the ACI, but not in the populations of AIS with DM, so did the elevated TG/HDL-C ratios. Also, the percent of low HDL-C level and high TG level were higher in POCI group than that in ACI group. Furthermore, single factors logistic regression demonstrated that TG, HDL-C and TG/HDL-C ratio were correlated to the POCI whatever in the total populations or AIS without DM, but this kind of trend just maintained in the populations of AIS without DM after adjusting by relative interference factors. Conclusion Dyslipidaemia was prone to happening in POCI compared to ACI in the non-diabetic populations, which was correlated to the pathogenesis of POCI

Purification of Wet-Process Phosphoric Acid via Donnan Dialysis with a Perfluorinated Sulfonic Acid Cation-Exchange Membrane

This work reports the application of an electromembrane process, Donnan dialysis (DD), for the purification of so-called wet-process phosphoric acid (WPA). Nitric acid is used as the stripping solution to remove metallic cations (mostly Fe3+, Al3+, and Mg2+) that are harmful to the further processing of WPA. The paper first presents a set of experimental data on the measurements of the metallic cation fluxes through a perfluorinated sulfonic acid cation-exchange membrane. Not only WPA, but also synthetic phosphoric acid solutions with mixed metallic cations (MPA) and with a single metallic cation (SPA) were studied. This confrontation confirms (1) that the order of metallic cations fluxes is Mg2+ > Al3+ > Fe3+; (2) that, compared with MPA, the purification effect of WPA causes only negligible change; (3) that, by comparing the DD processes with SPA and MPA solutions, the reason for the low transmembrane fluxes of Fe3+ and Al3+ could be explained by the large ionic charge and large hydrated ion radius. Furthermore, by analyzing the ion composition of membranes equilibrated in SPA solutions, we conclude that the forms of cations in the membrane are most likely Fe3+, Al3+, and Mg2+

    Gel-tape-casting of aluminum nitride ceramics

    Get PDF
Abstract Aluminum nitride ceramic sheets were formed for the first time by a novel and simple method, namely gel-tape-casting process, where only two additives were used to prepare the slurries. PIBM (a water-soluble copolymer of isobutylene and maleic anhydride) acted as both dispersant and gelling agent, and PEG (polyethylene glycol) acted as plasticizer. Combining the advantages of gel-casting and tape-casting processes, flexible and uniform green tapes were obtained. The rheological properties of AlN slurries were studied to optimize the PIBM content and solids loading. After drying and debinding, the green sheets were sintered at 1840 °C in N2 atmosphere. Homogeneous microstructure with average grain size of about 7 μm was observed in the final AlN ceramics. Thermal conductivity of the AlN ceramics was 161 W/(m·K)

Tunable Cascade Reaction of Aryl Diazonium Salts and Trialkylamine: Synthesis of Monofluorinated Arylhydrazones and <i>gem</i>-Difluorinated Azo Compounds

The first example of a mild and tunable cascade reaction of aryl diazonium salts and trialkylamine in the presence of Selectfluor to prepare monofluorinated arylhydrazones and <i>gem</i>-difluorinated azo compounds without metal has been explored. In the presence of H2O, the monofluorinated arylhydrazones were observed in moderate to good yield. In the absence of H2O, the <i>gem</i>-difluorinated azo compounds were obtained. The fluorinated arylhydrazones were utilized to synthesize fluorinated pyrazoles and other nitrogen-containing compounds

Numerical Study on Schottky-Barrier Double-Gate MOS Transistor with Recessed Channel and Asymmetric Contact

In the letter, a new Schottky-barrier double-gate n-metal-oxide-semiconductor field effect transistor (MOSFET) with a recessed channel and asymmetric contact is presented and studied numerically. The numerical simulation demonstrated that the recessed channel, double-gate structure, and asymmetric source/drain Schottky-contacts not only can effectively suppress short-channel effects, but also yield a smaller off-current and a larger driven current, e.g., an on/off ratio as high as 10(6) and an on-state current of 780 mu A/mu m with a supply voltage of 1.0 Volt. These characteristics make the presented MOS transistors potentially suitable for logic and memory applications

A typical LC-MS/MS spectrum of blood spots from patients.

<p>Blood samples were prepared and mass spectrometric analysis of individual sample was performed as described in “Methods” in details. Panel A shows a mass spectrum was acquired in the neutral loss scan mode. The scan was range from m/z 140 to m/z 280. It can detect most of the amino acids. Panel B shows a mass spectrum was acquired in the multiple reaction monitor mode. It was mainly used to detect Gly, Orn, Arg, Cit and its internal standard. Panel C shows a mass spectrum was acquired in precursor ion scanning mode. It used to detect the acylcarnitine in the sample.</p
