    Global 3D non-rigid registration of deformable objects using a single RGB-D camera

    We present a novel global non-rigid registration method for dynamic 3D objects. Our method allows objects to undergo large non-rigid deformations, and achieves high quality results even with substantial pose change or camera motion between views. In addition, our method does not require a template prior and uses less raw data than tracking based methods since only a sparse set of scans is needed. We compute the deformations of all the scans simultaneously by optimizing a global alignment problem to avoid the well-known loop closure problem, and use an as-rigid-as-possible constraint to eliminate the shrinkage problem of the deformed shapes, especially near open boundaries of scans. To cope with large-scale problems, we design a coarse-to-fine multi-resolution scheme, which also avoids the optimization being trapped into local minima. The proposed method is evaluated on public datasets and real datasets captured by an RGB-D sensor. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method obtains better results than several state-of-the-art methods

    Association between angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor-induced cough and the risk of lung cancer: a Mendelian randomization study

    Background: Observational studies and meta-analyses have demonstrated a positive correlation between the use of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) and lung cancer. However, the findings remain controversial; furthermore, the relationship between ACEI-induced cough and lung cancer development remains unknown. We used Mendelian randomization (MR) to verify the association between ACEI use, ACEI-induced cough, and the risk of lung cancer.Methods: We performed a two-sample MR analysis to determine the unconfounded relationships between ACE inhibition, which mimics the effects of ACEIs, and genetic proxies for ACEI-induced cough and lung cancer. Single nucleotide polymorphisms that imitate ACE receptors and ACEI-induced cough were collected and integrated into a meta-analysis of existing genome-wide association studies for various lung cancers. The relationship was quantified using inverse variance weighting, weighted median, and MR-Egger methods.Results: A statistically significant association was observed between ACE inhibition and the risk of small cell lung cancer for Europeans (excluding rs118121655/rs80311894). Associations were identified between ACEI-induced cough and the risk of lung cancer for Europeans, although not for Asians, and between ACEI-induced cough and lung adenocarcinoma (excluding rs360206).Conclusion: Our findings reveal a relationship between ACE inhibition and lung cancer development, as well as a significant association between ACEI-induced cough and a higher risk of lung cancer for Europeans. Patients with hypertension who experience dry cough as a side effect of ACEI use should consider switching to an alternative antihypertensive treatment

    Submicroscopic metallic iron in lunar soils estimated from the in situ spectra of the Chang’E-3 mission

    Submicroscopic metallic iron (SMFe) created by space weathering has strong effects on the optical properties of the lunar surface. Spectra measured in situ by the visible-near-infrared spectrometer (VNIS) on board the Chang’E-3 Yutu rover were used to investigate optical maturity differences at the CE-3 landing site caused by lander exhaust. SMFe abundances were estimated using Hapke’s radiative transfer model. Analysis of the spectrum for a minimally disturbed soil indicates that it contains 0.368 wt % SMFe, corresponding to an Is/FeO maturity index of ~53 and indicating that the landing site is submature. The soil at a location that was more disturbed contains 0.217 wt % SMFe, suggesting that the material removed by the rocket blast is more weathered than the regolith that remained behind.     LncRNA expression profile and ceRNA analysis in tomato during flowering.

    Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a class of non-coding RNAs that play essential regulatory roles in various developmental processes and stress responses. However, the functions of lncRNAs during the flowering period of tomato are largely unknown. To explore the lncRNA profiles and functions during flowering in tomato, we performed strand-specific paired-end RNA sequencing of tomato leaves, flowers and roots, with three biological replicates. We identified 10919 lncRNAs including 248 novel lncRNAs, of which 65 novel lncRNAs were significantly differentially expressed (DE) in the flowers, leaves, and roots. The Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) analyses were carried out to identify the cis target gene of DE lncRNAs. The results showed that the lncRNAs might play an important role in the growth, development, and apoptosis of flowering tomato plant by regulating the formation of intima in flower tissues, binding to various molecules, influencing metabolic pathways, and inducing apoptosis. Moreover, we identified the interaction between 32, 78, and 397 kinds of miRNAs, lncRNAs, and mRNAs. The results suggest that the lncRNAs can regulate the expression of mRNA during flowering period in tomato by forming competitive endogenous RNA, and further regulate various biological metabolism pathways in tomato
