    Table-to-Text: Describing Table Region with Natural Language

    In this paper, we present a generative model to generate a natural language sentence describing a table region, e.g., a row. The model maps a row from a table to a continuous vector and then generates a natural language sentence by leveraging the semantics of a table. To deal with rare words appearing in a table, we develop a flexible copying mechanism that selectively replicates contents from the table in the output sequence. Extensive experiments demonstrate the accuracy of the model and the power of the copying mechanism. On two synthetic datasets, WIKIBIO and SIMPLEQUESTIONS, our model improves the current state-of-the-art BLEU-4 score from 34.70 to 40.26 and from 33.32 to 39.12, respectively. Furthermore, we introduce an open-domain dataset WIKITABLETEXT including 13,318 explanatory sentences for 4,962 tables. Our model achieves a BLEU-4 score of 38.23, which outperforms template based and language model based approaches.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures. This paper has been published by AAAI201

    THEORIZING A TWO-SIDED ADOPTION MODEL FOR MOBILE MARKETING PLATFORMS

    From a two-sided market perspective, this paper is aimed at proposing a conceptual model for analyzing user adoption behaviors towards mobile marketing platforms. Both the consumer side and the merchant side of the platforms are modeled based on extending classical theories with newly introduced factors reflecting cross network effects, and the two sides are integrated in the overall model which reveals the dynamic interaction between the evolution processes of the two user groups through the platform. An experimental investigation and a survey study are conducted to test the consumer side and the merchant side of the model, respectively, both using the structural equation modeling (SEM) method for statistic analysis. Results from the empirical tests demonstrate that the two-sided perspective is promising for interpreting the adoption and evolution mechanisms of mobile marketing platforms. The proposed model extends the current research theme of information systems adoption to a more comprehensive viewpoint of two-sided markets, while contributes to the literature of two-sided market theories by introducing behavioral considerations

    Power allocation for cache-aided small-cell networks with limited backhaul

    Cache-aided small-cell network is becoming an effective method to improve the transmission rate and reduce the backhaul load. Due to the limited capacity of backhaul, less power should be allocated to users whose requested contents do not exist in the local caches to maximize the performance of caching. In this paper, power allocation is considered to improve the performance of cache-aided small-cell networks with limited backhaul, where interference alignment (IA) is utilized to manage interferences among users. Specifically, three power allocation algorithms are proposed. First, we come up with a power allocation algorithm to maximize the sum transmission rate of the network, considering the limitation of backhaul. Second, in order to have more users meet their rate requirements, a power allocation algorithm to minimizing the average outage probability is also proposed. In addition, in order to further improve the users’ experience, a power allocation algorithm that maximizes the average satisfaction of all the users is also designed. Simulation results are provided to show the effectiveness of the three proposed power allocation algorithms for cache-aided small-cell networks with limited backhaul

    Profile Consistency Identification for Open-domain Dialogue Agents

    Maintaining a consistent attribute profile is crucial for dialogue agents to naturally converse with humans. Existing studies on improving attribute consistency mainly explored how to incorporate attribute information in the responses, but few efforts have been made to identify the consistency relations between response and attribute profile. To facilitate the study of profile consistency identification, we create a large-scale human-annotated dataset with over 110K single-turn conversations and their key-value attribute profiles. Explicit relation between response and profile is manually labeled. We also propose a key-value structure information enriched BERT model to identify the profile consistency, and it gained improvements over strong baselines. Further evaluations on downstream tasks demonstrate that the profile consistency identification model is conducive for improving dialogue consistency.Comment: EMNLP2

    Transcriptional control of Flt3 ligand targeted by fluorouracil-induced Egr-1 promoter in hematopoietic damage

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Ionizing radiation (IR) activate the early growth response-1 (Egr-1) promoter by production of radical oxygen intermediates (ROIs). Egr-EF, an expression vector pCIneo containing Egr-1 promoter cloned upstream of the cDNA for Flt3 ligand, was used to treat hematopoietic damage. 5-fluorouracil, a commonly used chemotherapeutic agent, cause tumor cell death by producing DNA damage and generating ROIs. We therefore hypothesized that clinically employed chemotherapeutic agents that increase ROIs could also be employed to activate Egr-EF in a chemoinducible gene therapy strategy. The goal of this study was to explore the effect of Flt3 Ligand gene transcription regulated by fluorouracil-induced Egr-1 promoter on hematopoietic recovery.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>Human Flt3 Ligand (FL) cDNA and enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) cDNA were linked together with IRES and inserted into the expression vector pCI-neo under control of the Egr-1 promoter (Egr-EF). The vector was transfected into the HFCL human bone marrow stromal cell line, and these cells were exposed to 5-FU, a chemotherapeutic drug. Expression of FL by HFCL/EF cells after 5-FU treatment was determined with ELISA, western blot and RT-PCR assays. In addition, the effect of FL from HFCL/EF cell culture supernatants on growth of CD34<sup>+ </sup>cells from cord blood was also studied. HFCL/EF cells were injected into CB-17 combined immunodeficient (SCID) mice with B16 melanoma. 5-FU was given three days after injection of the HFCL/EF cells. In the recipient mice, white blood cell levels in peripheral blood and expression of EGFP and FL in human stromal cells were measured. Tumor volumes in tumor-bearing mice were also measured.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>5-FU treatment increased EGFP levels and secreted FL levels in HFCL/EF cells. Supernatants from HFCL/EF cell cultures treated with 5-FU increased CD34<sup>+ </sup>cell growth significantly. HFCL/EF exhibited an increase in the number of white blood cells after chemotherapy.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>The data presented here support the use of transcriptional control mediated by chemoinducible gene therapy to reduce hematopoietic injury associated with 5-FU.</p
