A coordination polymer of CdII with benzene-1,3-dicarboxylÂate and 1,4-bisÂ[1-(2-pyridylmethÂyl)benzimidazol-2-yl]butane
The title CdII coordination polymer, catena-poly[[{1,4-bisÂ[1-(2-pyridylmethÂyl)benzimidazol-2-yl]butane}cadmium(II)]-μ-benzene-1,3-dicarboxylÂato], [Cd(C8H4O4)(C30H28N6)]n, was obtained by reaction of CdCO3, benzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid (H2btc) and 1,4-bisÂ[1-(2-pyridylmethÂyl)benzimidazol-2-yl]butane (L). The CdII cation is six-coordinated by an N2O4-donor set. L acts as a bidentate ligand and btc anions link CdII centers into a chain propagating parallel to [010]
Preparation and Enhancement of Thermal Conductivity of Heat Transfer Oil-Based MoS 2
The lipophilic MoS2 nanoparticles are synthesized by surface modification with stearic acid (SA). The heat transfer oil-based nanofluids, with the mass fraction of lipophilic nanoparticles varying from 0.25% up to 1.0%, are prepared and their thermal conductivity is determined at temperatures ranging from 40 to 200°C using an apparatus based on the laser flash method. It has been found that the nanofluids have higher thermal conductivity and the thermal conductivity enhancement increased not only with increasing mass fraction of nanoparticles, but also with increasing temperature in the range 40–180°C The results show a 38.7% enhancement of the thermal conductivity of MoS2 nanofluid with only 1.0% mass fraction at 180°C
1,5-Dimethyl-2-nitroÂimino-1,3,5-triÂazinane
The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C5H11N5O2, contains two independent molÂecules. The two triazine rings adopt envelope conformations. IntraÂmolecular C—H⋯N and N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds result in the formation of two five- and two six-membered rings which are nearly planar; in addition, they are also nearly coplanar. In the crystal structure, interÂmolecular N—H⋯N, C—H⋯N and C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the molÂecules
Abnormal magnetoresistance behavior in Nb thin film with rectangular antidot lattice
Abnormal magnetoresistance behavior is found in superconducting Nb films
perforated with rectangular arrays of antidots (holes). Generally
magnetoresistance were always found to increase with increasing magnetic field.
Here we observed a reversal of this behavior for particular in low temperature
or current density. This phenomenon is due to a strong 'caging effect' which
interstitial vortices are strongly trapped among pinned multivortices.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure
A New Epoxy-cadinane Sesquiterpene from the Marine Brown Alga Dictyopteris divaricata
A new epoxy-cadinane sesquiterpene, 4β,5β-epoxycadinan-1β-ol (1), and six known cadinane sesquiterpenes: cadinan-1,4,5-triol (2), 4α,5β-dihydroxycubenol (3), cubenol (4), cadinan-3-ene-1,5-diol (5), cubenol-3-one (6), and torreyol (7), were isolated from a sample of marine brown alga Dictyopteris divaricata collected off the coast of Yantai (China). Their structures were established by detailed MS and NMR spectroscopic analysis, as well as comparison with literature data
Polymorphism in exon 1 of adiponectin gene and its association with water holding capacity, IMF and abdominal fat in duck
The objective of the present study was to investigate the effect of polymorphism in adiponectin gene on meat quality traits, serum total cholesterol, serum triglyceride and abdominal fat of 170 individuals from Cherry Valley duck (CV), Jinding duck (JD) and Hybrid duck (CV × JD) (HB) populations. PCR-SSCP technique was developed to analyze a 230 bp region of the adiponectin gene exon 1. Three genotypes (CC, CD and DD), which were the products of two alleles (C and D) were observed. Alignment sequences’ results showed that four SNPs (C86T, C104T, C146T and C155T) were found and all of those nucleotide variations were nonsense mutations. Association analysis indicated that all of these traits had significant population effects except meat colour (P < 0.05) and then the birds with homozygote (CC) had significant lower than homozygotes (DD) for IMF, water holding capacity and abdominal fat (P < 0.05). The research suggested that genotype DD may be an advantage genotype for fat deposition in duck. The adiponectin gene exon 1 polymorphism could be used in marker assistant selection (MAS) as a genetic marker for the birds’ fat deposition.Key words: Duck, adiponectin gene, polymorphism, meat quality, fatness
Cross-sectional study of the relationship of peripheral blood cell profiles with severity of infection by adenovirus type 55
BACKGROUND: The immunologic profiles of patients with human adenovirus serotype 55 (HAdV-55) infections were characterized in subjects diagnosed with silent infections (n = 30), minor infections (n = 27), severe infections (n = 34), and healthy controls (n = 30) during a recent outbreak among Chinese military trainees. METHODS: Blood was sampled at the disease peak and four weeks later, and samples were analyzed to measure changes in leukocyte and platelet profiles in patients with different severities of disease. Differential lymphocyte subsets and cytokine profiles were measured by flow cytometry and Luminex xMAP®, and serum antibodies were analyzed by ELISA and immunofluorescence staining. RESULTS: Patients with severe HAdV infections had higher proportions of neutrophils and reduced levels of lymphocytes (p < 0.005 for both). Patients with minor and severe infections had significantly lower platelet counts (p < 0.005 for both) than those with silent infections. The silent and minor infection groups had higher levels of dendritic cells than the severe infection group. Relative to patients with silent infections, patients with severe infections had significantly higher levels of IL-17(+)CD4(+) cells, decreased levels of IL-17(+)CD8(+) cells, and higher levels of IFN-γ, IL-4, IL-10, and IFN-α2 (p < 0.001 for all comparisons). CONCLUSIONS: Patients with different severities of disease due to HAdV-55 infection had significantly different immune responses. These data provide an initial step toward the identification of patients at risk for more severe disease and the development of treatments against HAdV-55 infection
