Currently, studies about PORT in stage IIIA-N2 NSCLC patients in recent years have mostly adopted the conformal radiation therapy (CRT) technique, while other modern techniques such as intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT, hereinafter referred to as ARC), helical tomotherapy (HT), and so forth are also developing quickly. In this paper, we intended to compare the dosimetric characteristics of CRT, IMRT, ARC, CRT+IMRT, and CRT+ARC of PORT in stage IIIA-N2 NSCLC patients. Ten patients with stage IIIA-N2 completely resected NSCLC, whom were treated by PORT in the radiotherapy department of our hospital from January 1, 2017, to January 1, 2018, were randomly selected in this study. For each patient, the CRT plan, IMRT plan, ARC plan, CRT+IMRT plan, and CRT+ARC plan were designed separately on the same set of CT images. The isodose distribution and dose-volume histogram (DVH) of the five plans were compared to determine the dosimetric parameters of the targets, OAR (organs at risk), and the normal tissue (defined as body subtracted to PTV (planning target volume), B-P). No plan had absolute dosimetry advantages than any other plans. In clinical practice, the plans could be chosen according to their dosimetry characteristics

The experiment studies the effect of baicalin and baicalein on mice U14 cervical cancer and its pharmacokinetics in mice. By using different mouse models of cancer treatment program administered and uptake kinetics experiments, tissue distribution experiment, excretion, and metabolism in experimental experiments, we found that baicalin and baicalein can improve immunity and the ability of antioxidation and inhibit the growth of tumor. The absorption of intestinal drug takes place in intestinal tract. Tissue distribution was ideal. Because of the ideal drug distribution, the liver and kidney were protected. Drug was mainly excreted through the feces and bile excretion

437-444In the present study, the crude polyssaccharides from Solanum nigrum L. was fractioned by DEAE-cellulose column chromatography, and was further purified by Sephadex-100 column chromatography. We investigated the anti-cervical cancer activity and anti-metastasis effects of the sub-fraction 1a of polysaccharides from Solanum nigrum L. (SNL-P1a) in tumor-bearing mice models, and explored the probable mechanism underlying the pharmacological activity of the polysaccharide. Mice were grouped into the model control, positive control and SNL-P1a of low and high dose treatment groups. After experiment ended, the tumor growth and the lung metastasis inhibition rates were calculated respectively. Furthermore, the serum antioxidant enzyme activities in mice were measured by spectrophotometer method. Results showed that SNL-P1a inhibited the growth and the metastasis of cervical cancer significantly. Moreover, SNL-P1a treatment increased serum antioxidant enzyme activity and LDH activity. These results suggested that the antioxidant activity of SNL-P1a might be beneficial to the cervical cancer therapy

Fabrication of Gold Nanochains with Octreotide Acetate Template

We described a facile method for assembly gold nanochains by using octreotide acetate as template in aqueous environment. In acidic solution, octreotide acetate was conferred positive charges and its structure changed to chain-like. The monodisperse negative gold nanoparticles were bound to the surface of octreotide acetate template by electrostatic attraction and the interaction of gold nanoparticles with amino acid residues (tryptophan and lysine). The fabricated gold nanostructure presented chain-like observed by transmission electron microscopy. The cytotoxicity of gold nanochains was examined by tetrazolium dye-based microtitration (MTT) assay, which demonstrated significantly less toxicity than that of octreotide acetate alone. The MTT assay also reflected the combinative action between the gold nanoparticles with octreotide acetate. Our work lays the groundwork for developing octreotide acetate-templated nanomaterials that can be used as a building block for the creation of nanomaterials. Meanwhile, the harmfulless gold nanochains have great application prospects in the biomedical filed

Impact of Elevated Circulating Histones on Systemic Inflammation after Radiofrequency Ablation in Lung Cancer Patients

Background. This study investigated the changes of circulating histones following radiofrequency ablation (RFA) in lung cancer patients and their impact on systemic inflammation. Methods. Serial blood samples were obtained from a total of 65 primary and metastatic lung cancer patients undergoing RFA at 2 time points: pre-RFA and post-RFA within 48 h. Circulating histones, myeloperoxidase (MPO), and multiple inflammatory cytokines were measured. Moreover, the patient’s sera were incubated overnight with human monocytic U937 cells in the presence or absence of anti-histone antibody, and cytokine production was evaluated. Results. Compared to pre-RFA, there was a significant increase in circulating histones within 48 h after RFA, along with an elevation of MPO and several canonical inflammatory cytokines. Circulating histones were correlated with these inflammatory markers. Notably, compared to the sera obtained before RFA, the patients’ post-RFA sera significantly stimulated cytokine production in the supernatant of U937 cells, which could be prevented by anti-histone antibody, thereby confirming a cause-effect relationship between circulating histones and systemic inflammation. Conclusions. This study showed that circulating histones may serve as a marker indicating RFA-related systemic inflammation as well as represent a therapeutic target for resolution of inflammation
