Corrigendum to "An equivalence of categories for graded modules over monomial algebras and path algebras of quivers" [J. Algebra, 353(1) (2012) 249-260]
Our published paper contains an incorrect statement of a result due to Artin
and Zhang. This corrigendum gives the correct statement of their result and
includes a new result that allows us to use their result to prove our main
theorem. Thus the main theorem of our published paper is correct as stated but
its proof must be modified
A New Lower Bound for the Distinct Distance Constant
The reciprocal sum of Zhang sequence is not equal to the Distinct Distance
Constant. This note introduces a -sequence with larger reciprocal sum, and
provides a more precise estimation of the reciprocal sums of Mian-Chowla
sequence and Zhang sequence.Comment: 4 pages, 3 ancillary table
âA Special Zone for Confucianismâ? Theses of the Academician Zhang Xianglong on Traditional Chinese Cultureâ
This article introduces the work of the academician Zhang Xianglong (b. 1949), focussing on his idea of establishing a âspecial zone for Confucianismâ in China. Zhang argues that special protection is needed for Confucian traditions which he perceives as the leading culture of China. Confucian culture should find its way out of the museum, says Zhang. He also refers to the political concept of âone country, two systemsâ that was implemented when Hongkong was restored to Chinese rule. Zhang applies this to his idea of a âspecial zone for Confucianismâ, suggesting that this political concept could be extended to âone country, three systemsâ. In my view Zhang is developing new, creative ideas for possible experimental fields dealing with Confucianism in the context of the Peopleâs Republic of China. In the end it is my argument that it would be helpful to conduct in-depth research on the possible role of Confucianism in todayâs China.
Transculturating the modern : Zhang Ruogu\u27s literary life in 1930s Shanghai
Zhang Ruogu ćŒ”è„è°·(1905-1967), now known primarily as an urban writer,2 began his literary career by translating and commenting on French literature in newspapers and journals and subsequently published several urban stories. He was also an active advocate of urban life and played an important role in the introduction of the ideas of the French-style cafĂ© gathering and European cultural trends. Zhang Ruoguâs literary activities, his admiration of French literature and culture, and his works inspired by the French literary works that he admired or translated, are the focus of investigation of this paper. From Paris to Shanghai and from 19th-century French literature to urban stories of Shanghai of the 1930s, these literary trends and works advanced through a process of translation and interpretation. What occurred during this translation and interpretation process? How does this examination aid us in understanding Zhang Ruoguâs own work and modern Chinese literature? This paper addresses Zhang Ruoguâs translations, adaptations and interpretations of French literature as well as his own literary works
