In this paper, we mainly study connections between ideals of the semisimple EMV-algebra M and filters on some nonempty set Ω. We show that there is a bijection between the set of all closed ideals of M and the set of all filters on Ω. We prove that the topological space of all closed prime ideals of M and the topological space of all weak ultrafilters on Ω are homeomorphic

Nano-mechanical behavior of bcc irons characterized through nanoindentation and TEM In-situ straining

Local mechanical behaviors were investigated through nanoindentation and TEM in-situ straining techniques for bcc irons. Pop-in phenomenon that corresponds presumably to local plasticity initiation was detected on load-displacement curves with major parameters of critical load Pc and corresponding excursion depth Dh [1]. The Pc decreases significantly when indent are made on a grain boundary, which indicates a role of dislocation source of a grain boundary. Alloying elements including interstitial or substitutional atoms have an effect on increasing Pc. Since the maximum shear stress underneath the indenter is estimated in an order of a theoretical strength, the event can be understood as dislocation nucleation from defect-free region in a crystal. Dislocation structures underneath the indenter were observed through TEM before and after a pop-in event [2]. No dislocations were observed before initiation while considerable dislocations were generated right after the event. These results suggest that dislocation nucleation and multiplication occur drastically upon plasticity initiation based on collective dislocation motion. In-situ TEM compression tests were performed for interstitial-free (IF) steel to get the relationship between an evolution of dislocation structure and flow stress [3]. Figure 1 shows stress-strain curves (a) and TEM images (b, c) of dislocation structures of the sample. The initial dislocation density was quite low, then after the yielding, the dislocation density increased gradually with strain and the corresponding flow stress decreased edgingly, indicating a significant strain softening. The flow stress was plotted as a function of the dislocation density and the stress exponent m was evaluated based on the combination of Johnston and Gilman model and Orowan model. The m value is lower than that in the case of edge dislocation dominant condition that is previously shown in literatures. This is reasonable because the stress exponent m goes down with the much lower mobility of screw dislocation than that of the edge dislocation in bcc structure. Equivalence between two charged black holes in dynamics of orbits outside the event horizons

Using the FermiDirac distribution function, Balart and Vagenas gave a charged spherically symmetric regular black hole, which is a solution of Einstein field equations coupled to a nonlinear electrodynamics. In fact, the regular black hole is a Reissner-Nordstrom (RN) black hole when a metric function is given a Taylor expansion to first order approximations. It does not have a curvature singularity at the origin, but the RN black hole does. Both black hole metrics have horizons and similar asymptotic behaviors, and satisfy the weak energy conditions everywhere. They are almost the same in photon effective potentials, photon circular orbits and photon spheres outside the event horizons. There are relatively minor differences between effective potentials, stable circular orbits and innermost stable circular orbits of charged particles outside the event horizons of the two black holes immersed in external magnetic fields. Although the twomagnetized black holes allow different construction methods of explicit symplectic integrators, they exhibit approximately consistent results in the regular and chaotic dynamics of charged particles outside the event horizons. Chaos gets strong as the magnetic field parameter or the magnitude of negative Coulomb parameter increases, but becomes weak when the black hole charge or the positive Coulomb parameter increases. A variation of dynamical properties is not sensitive dependence on an appropriate increase of the black hole charge. The basic equivalence between the two black hole gravitational systems in the dynamics of orbits outside the event horizons is due to the two metric functions having an extremely small difference. This implies that the RN black hole is reasonably replaced by the regular black hole without curvature singularity in many situations.Comment: 18 pages, 12 figure

Activated Vibrational Modes and Fermi Resonance in Tip-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy

Using p-aminothiophenol (PATP) molecules on a gold substrate as prototypical examples and high vacuum tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (HV-TERS), we show that the vibrational spectra of those molecules are distinctly different from those in typical surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy. Detailed first-principles calculations help to assign the Raman peaks in the TERS measurements as Raman active and infrared (IR) active vibrational modes of dimercaptoazobenzene (DMAB), thus providing strong spectroscopic evidence for the conversion of PATP dimerization to DMAB. The activation of the IR active modes is due to enhanced electromagnetic field gradient effects within the gap region of the highly asymmetric tip-surface geometry. Our TERS measurements also realize splitting of certain vibrational modes due to Fermi resonance between a fundamental mode and the overtone of a different mode or a combinational mode. These findings help to broaden the versatility of TERS as a promising technique for ultrasensitive molecular spectroscopy

Universal projective synchronization (UPS) of two chaotic systems is defined. Based on the Lyapunov stability theory, an adaptive control method is derived such that UPS of two different hyperchaotic systems with unknown parameters is realized, which is up to a scaling function matrix and three kinds of reference systems, respectively. Numerical simulations are used to verify the effectiveness of the scheme

DSCALE_mod16: A Model for Disaggregating Microwave Satellite Soil Moisture with Land Surface Evapotranspiration Products and Gridded Meteorological Data

Improving the spatial resolution of microwave satellite soil moisture (SM) products is important for various applications. Most of the downscaling methods that fuse optical/thermal and microwave data rely on remotely sensed land surface temperature (LST) or LST-derived SM indexes (SMIs). However, these methods suffer from the problems of “cloud contamination”, “decomposing uncertainty”, and “decoupling effect”. This study presents a new downscaling method, referred to as DSCALE_mod16, without using LST and LST-derived SMIs. This model combines MODIS ET products and a gridded meteorological data set to obtain Land surface Evaporative Efficiency (LEE) as the main downscaling factor. A cosine-square form of downscaling function was adopted to represent the quantitative relationship between LEE and SM. Taking the central part of the United States as the case study area, we downscaled SMAP (Soil Moisture Active and Passive) SM products with an original resolution of 36km to a resolution of 500m. The study period spans more than three years from 2015 to 2018. In situ SM measurements from three sparse networks and three core validation sites (CVS) were used to evaluate the downscaling model. The evaluation results indicate that the downscaled SM values maintain the spatial dynamic range of original SM data while providing more spatial details. Moreover, the moisture mass is conserved during the downscaling process. The downscaled SM values have a good agreement with in situ SM measurements. The unbiased root-mean-square errors (ubRMSEs) of downscaled SM values is 0.035 m3/m3 at Fort Cobb, 0.026 m3/m3 at Little Washita, and 0.055 m3/m3 at South Fork, which are comparable to ubRMSEs of original SM estimates at these three CVS

Antipsychotics-induced improvement of cool executive function in individuals living with schizophrenia

Cool executive dysfunction is a crucial feature in people living with schizophrenia which is related to cognition impairment and the severity of the clinical symptoms. Based on electroencephalogram (EEG), our current study explored the change of brain network under the cool executive tasks in individuals living with schizophrenia before and after atypical antipsychotic treatment (before_TR vs. after_TR). 21 patients with schizophrenia and 24 healthy controls completed the cool executive tasks, involving the Tower of Hanoi Task (THT) and Trail-Marking Test A-B (TMT A-B). The results of this study uncovered that the reaction time of the after_TR group was much shorter than that of the before_TR group in the TMT-A and TMT-B. And the after_TR group showed fewer error numbers in the TMT-B than those of the before_TR group. Concerning the functional network, stronger DMN-like linkages were found in the before_TR group compared to the control group. Finally, we adopted a multiple linear regression model based on the change network properties to predict the patient’s PANSS change ratio. Together, the findings deepened our understanding of cool executive function in individuals living with schizophrenia and might provide physiological information to reliably predict the clinical efficacy of schizophrenia after atypical antipsychotic treatment

Organic compounds, such as organic dyes and phenols, are the main pollutants in wastewater. In the past years, a large number of studies on the fabrication and photocatalytic organics degradation of BiVO4 and its related materials have been reported in the literature. In this chapter, we shall focus on the advancements in the synthesis and photocatalytic applications of several kinds of BiVO4-based photocatalysts: (i) well-defined morphological BiVO4 photocatalysts, (ii) porous BiVO4 photocatalysts, (iii) heteroatom-doped BiVO4 photocatalysts, (iv) BiVO4-based heterojunction photocatalysts, and (v) supported BiVO4 photocatalysts. We shall discuss the structure–photocatalytic performance relationship of the materials and the involved photocatalytic degradation mechanisms. In addition, we also propose the research trends and technologies for practical applications of the BiVO4-based photocatalytic materials
