As a dermatologist, it is necessary to have some knowledge about the principles of phototherapy and photochemotherapy. Thus, these treatments can be used more effectively. It does not mean that dermatologists should know more details as a photobiologist or an engineer. However, some knowledge may provide “a good clinical practice” in the patient management. In this section, ultraviolet radiation sources, dosimetry and some answers about photo(chemo)therapy questions have been evaluated trying to “not boring” to the readers

Lichen planus is an idiopathic and inflammatory dermatosis affecting skin, mucosa, and nails. The exact etiopathogenesis is unknown, but autoimmunity, viruses, vaccinations, contact allergens, drugs, stress and genetic predisposition may have roles. Familial lichen planus has been rarely reported. However, the increase in familial cases day by day, strengthens the place of genetic predisposition in pathogenesis. Herein, we report a familial case of lichen planus in a mother and daughte

Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS) is a life threatening mucocutaneous skin disease that mostlydeveloped after using some drug. SJS mostly appear between 2-4th decades. Mucocutaneouslesions were seen between 1-14 days of drug intake. And these lesions spread diffusely all aroundthe body. First treatment choice is the stopping of drug that cause SJS and giving supportingtreatment. After understanding of underlying cytotoxic and immunological mechanism of SJS,new treatment approaches were developed and mortality of disease was reduced. We hereinreport a short review of drug induced SJS and its treatment

Several cutaneous side effects due to cetuximab such as acne-like rash, pruritus, dry skin, desquamation, hypertrichosis, and paronychia have been reported so far. A 59-year-old male patient with metastatic colon cancer referred to our outpatient clinic for his lesions on the dorsal surfaces of his hands and wrists, and on thighs developing after the chemotherapy. He was diagnosed as neutrophilic eccrine hydradenitis related to cetuximab in the light of clinical and histopathological findings. According to our knowledge, this is the first reported case of neutrophilic ecrine hydradenitis due to cetuximab

LICHENOID DRUG REACTION DUE TO ISONIAZID IN AN ELDERLY PATIENT

Balbay, Asim/0000-0003-1052-5903WOS: 000318755100019Tuberculosis is still an important cause of morbidity and mortality for our country. First line tuberculosis drugs have serious adverse effect potentials although they are highly effective in treatment. Cutaneous adverse effects are also frequent. Elderly are more prone to drug reactions because of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic reasons and a high incidence of multiple-drug use. Lichenoid drug reaction is a rare type of drug reaction after systemic, inhaler or transdermal use of various drugs or chemicals. Only a few cases of lichenoid drug reactions due to first line tuberculosis drugs have been reported until now. Here, we report an 80-year-old patient under multi-drug therapy for his recurrent tuberculosis who developed lichenoid drug reaction due to isoniazid. Potential of drug reaction increases with combination of multiple-drug use for tuberculosis and being old. For this reason, elderly patients with multiple-drug use require a more careful monitoring for drug reactions
