A new cryptic species of ground-dwelling Hemidactylus (Squamata: Gekkonidae) from southern India. Recently collected specimens of a gecko resembling Hemidactylus reticulatus from northern Karnataka State in southwestern India led me to investigate variation in the species with regards to its morphology and molecular divergence. Results based on existing museum material, combined with molecular data for the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene support the presence of cryptic species within the broadly distributed H. reticulatus complex. Here, I describe a new species of Hemidactylus from northern Karnataka as the frst contribution in resolving the species complex. The integration of molecular and morphological data supports the distinctness of the new species described herein

On the traffic offloading in Wi-Fi supported heterogeneous wireless networks

Heterogeneous small cell networks (HetSNet) comprise several low power, low cost (SBSa), (D2D) enabled links wireless-fidelity (Wi-Fi) access points (APs) to support the existing macrocell infrastructure, decrease over the air signaling and energy consumption, and increase network capacity, data rate and coverage. This paper presents an active user dependent path loss (PL) based traffic offloading (TO) strategy for HetSNets and a comparative study on two techniques to offload the traffic from macrocell to (SBSs) for indoor environments: PL and signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) based strategies. To quantify the improvements, the PL based strategy against the SIR based strategy is compared while considering various macrocell and (SBS) coverage areas and traffic–types. On the other hand, offloading in a dense urban setting may result in overcrowding the (SBSs). Therefore, hybrid traffic–type driven offloading technologies such as (WiFi) and (D2D) were proposed to en route the delay tolerant applications through (WiFi) (APs) and (D2D) links. It is necessary to illustrate the impact of daily user traffic profile, (SBSs) access schemes and traffic–type while deciding how much of the traffic should be offloaded to (SBSs). In this context, (AUPF) is introduced to account for the population of active small cells which depends on the variable traffic load due to the active users

AbstractIn this article, the influence of chemical reaction and heat transfer analysis of Maxwell saturated Ferro-fluid flow over a stretching sheet under the influence of magnetic dipole with Soret and suction effects are investigated. The sheet is assumed to be permeable in a semi-infinite domain. Firstly, partial differential equations of mass, momentum and concentration for the governing flow problem are modelled and converted into a system of differential equations by utilizing similarity approach. Then the solution of resulting non-linear differential equations is solved by efficient Runge-Kutta technique based on shooting algorithm with the help of MATLAB. Effect of all appropriate parameters like ferromagnetic interaction parameter, chemical reaction parameter, Maxwell parameter, Soret number, suction parameter, Maxwell parameter, Schmidt number, and suction parameter on velocity, temperature and concentration field are confirmed through graphs and table. From the present conclusions, it is examined that by increasing the Maxwell parameter there is a decrease in the fluid velocity and boundary layer thickness. On the other hand, the uprising behaviour is prominent for both temperature and concentration profiles. Also predicted that there is an enhancement in skin friction coefficient and rate of heat transfer by enlarging suction parameter, but opposite trend is noted for Sherwood number. Also noted that the values of Prandtl are taken ranges from 0.72 to 10. The Nusselt number increases from 1.09 to 4.80

Neotype designation for \u3cem\u3eScorpiops pachmarhicus\u3c/em\u3e Bastawade, 1992 (Scorpiones: Euscorpiidae), with redescription and notes on the species

Scorpiops pachmarhicus Bastawade, 1992 was described based on specimens collected from Pachmarhi, Madhya Pradesh. An expedition to the type locality led to discovery of a population at the type locality which permit us to designate a neotype for the species as types of the species are presently not traceable

An Empirical Investigation Of How To Increase User Engagement On Facebook Business Pages

    Get PDF
With the raging trend of networking on social networking sites such as Facebook, almost all businesses are trying to reach their consumers using the social networking site. One way of promoting a company\u27s products and services is by increasing the number of its Facebook page followers. We have studied DeLone & McLean’s model of IS success and have adapted it to the scenario of social networking sites, focusing particularly on Facebook. We have taken into consideration the dimensions of information quality and service quality and have studied their impact on consumer engagement and brand advocacy i.e. word of mouth. The proposed model provides quality dimensions that are hypothesized to influence consumer behavior in terms of their engagement and opinion giving. Results show that dimensions of information quality and service quality are important factors in molding consumer behavior accordingly and they partially effect consumer engagement which leads to brand advocacy

Background: To assess the prevalence of essential hypertension and evaluate cardiovascular risk in patients in Pakistan. Methods:This cross-sectional, non-interventional study was conducted at multiple centres throughout Pakistan. Data was collected from patients of either gender, ≥18 years of age, seeking routine medical consultation. Diagnosis and staging of hypertension was carried out using guidelines laid by Seventh Report of Joint National Committee (JNC 7). GenderwiseFramingham scores were calculated based on non-laboratory and laboratory parameters. Results: Out of 2336 patients evaluated, prevalence of hypertension and prehypertension was 51.5% and 31.4% , respectively. A total of 501 patients had coprevalent diabetes and hypertension. Ten-yearFramingham scores calculated using non-laboratory parameters showed 56% (947/1693) patients aged ≥30 years were at medium-to-high risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD). While Framingham scores based on laboratory or non-laboratory parameters were not significantly different for men, in women the nonlaboratory based score was higher. Angiotensinconverting enzyme inhibitors and calcium channel blockers were antihypertensive agents of choice. Conclusions: Since prevalence of prehypertension and hypertension in Pakistani adults continues to be on rise and substantial proportion of study population is at medium-to-high risk of developing CVD within the next 10 years, regular BP monitoring and risk scoring is mandated for identification of at-risk population and optimal management of CVD
