Time-delayed feedback control of coherence resonance near subcritical Hopf bifurcation: theory versus experiment

    Get PDF
Using the model of a generalized Van der Pol oscillator in the regime of subcritical Hopf bifurcation we investigate the influence of time delay on noise-induced oscillations. It is shown that for appropriate choices of time delay either suppression or enhancement of coherence resonance can de achieved. Analytical calculations are combined with numerical simulations and experiments on an electronic circuit

Region Foreign Economic Relations as a Factor of Reindustiralization

At present, the strengthening vector of the developing economies, in particular, of the countries of Eurasian Economic Union and BRICS, in the geographic structure of Russian foreign economic activity is observed. The subject matter of the article is to see, how the development of this direction can be economically favorable. For this purpose, the forms and degree of the development of economic partnership including collaboration with the Russian regions are investigated. The agreements on the economic partnership with the regions of partner countries of Russia, their production relations are considered. The analysis of foreign trade shows that in the case of the partner countries within Eurasian integration and the BRICS group — Russian economy gets the high possibility to become the supplier of products of relatively high degree of processing which is the key factor of development of its processing industry, i.e. the factor of reindustrialization and export-oriented import substitution. The article has been prepared within the project of fundamental research of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (20152017) No. 15-14-7-13 “Scenario approaches to realization of Ural vector of management and development of the Russian Arctic in terms of world instability”

A CONTENT ANALYSIS OF SOURCE-MESSAGE HETEROGENEITY IN MASS MEDIA COVERAGE OF AGROBIOTECHNOLOGY

In this paper, we use content analysis to examine the use of sources by US and UK newspaper reporters from 1990 to 1999. Positive (benefit) or negative (risk) messages are correlated with the "source" type in order to determine the degree of source-message heterogeneity in media reporting of agrobiotechnology.Research and Development/Tech Change/Emerging Technologies, Teaching/Communication/Extension/Profession,

The role of Belgorod’ mass-media in forming of public agenda

The article reveals the modalities of mass-media’s influence on public consciousness. The correlation of political, public and media agendas has also been investigated. For the first time the investigation has been made with consideration for a region, by the example of the Belgorod Regio

Current Problems of Interaction between Emergency Medical Service and Population: Organizational, Financial, and Supply Chain management.

At the current stage quality of emergency medical services (EMS) implies not only the professionalism of paramedics, but also the timeliness of their provision. The methods that allow for minimization of the patient’s waiting time for assistance are acquiring particular relevance. The purpose of this paper is to identify factors increasing the waiting time of EMS and prove the need to implement recommendations given on the reverse side of the first aid alert sheet for the citizens after calling an ambulance. The paper analyzes operation of Vladivostok EMS during 2016 – 2018 based on the data of the annual statistics report. In the process of solving these tasks of the thesis, the following research methods were used: analytical, descriptive, comparative, observation, simulation and generalization. nine ambulance crew shifts in Vladivostok city were studied with the help of observation and simulation methods. The results of this study were used as a basis for calculating time, which could be shortened in case if patients use our recommendations. The factors negatively affecting the delivery time of emergency medical service are drafted. The measures that can increase delivery of a quality medical service are offered. The developed recommendations can reduce time spent by an ambulance crew on the call, and improve efficiency of interaction between the ambulance crew and the patient

Optical anisotropy of InAs/GaSb broken-gap quantum wells

We investigate in detail the optical anisotropy of absorption of linearly polarized light in InAs/GaSb quantum wells grown on GaSb along the [001] direction, which can be used as an active region of different laser structures. The energy level positions, the wave functions, the optical matrix elements, and the absorption coefficients are calculated using the eight-band k center dot p model and the Burt-Foreman envelope function theory. In these calculations, the Schrodinger and Poisson equations are solved self-consistently taking the lattice-mismatched strain into account. We find that a realistic Hamiltonian, which has the C (2v) symmetry, results in considerable anisotropy of optical matrix elements for different directions of light polarization and different directions of the initial-state in-plane wave vector, including low-symmetry directions. We trace how the optical matrix elements and absorption are modified when spin-orbit interaction and important symmetry breaking mechanisms are taken into account (structural inversion asymmetry, bulk inversion asymmetry, and interface Hamiltonian). These mechanisms result in an almost 100% anisotropy of the absorption coefficients as the light polarization vector rotates in the plane of the structure and in a plane normal to the interfaces
