National Skills Strategy (NSS) has set objective to encourage entrepreneurship among the students of technical vocational education and training in Pakistan. After 18th amendment the Punjab Skill Development Plan (2013) translates the NSS (2009-013) objectives in the province of Punjab through Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority – Punjab. This research aims to study the efforts of the TEVTA- Punjab for promoting the entrepreneurship education among the students of TVET. The study also aims to study the impact of the entrepreneurship education on students mind set. This study is based upon the theoretical framework of the Theory of Planned Behaviour by Ajzen (1990). It is basically quantitative research for which a survey was conducted from the students those has participated in entrepreneurship education module and those have not participated in entrepreneurship education course. It was revealed that entrepreneurship education has an impact on students mind set to become an entrepreneur. The study has practical implications for TVET institutes and technology education programs to produce entrepreneurship education and TVET policy makers, administrators and curriculum developers to enhance entrepreneurial mind set of the students. Future research can be conducted on the adaptation of the entrepreneurial curriculum for effective delivery of the entrepreneurship education

Spin texture on the Fermi surface of tensile strained HgTe

We present ab initio and k.p calculations of the spin texture on the Fermi surface of tensile strained HgTe, which is obtained by stretching the zincblende lattice along the (111) axis. Tensile strained HgTe is a semimetal with pointlike accidental degeneracies between a mirror symmetry protected twofold degenerate band and two nondegenerate bands near the Fermi level. The Fermi surface consists of two ellipsoids which contact at the point where the Fermi level crosses the twofold degenerate band along the (111) axis. However, the spin texture of occupied states indicates that neither ellipsoid carries a compensating Chern number. Consequently, the spin texture is locked in the plane perpendicular to the (111) axis, exhibits a nonzero winding number in that plane, and changes winding number from one end of the Fermi ellipsoids to the other. The change in the winding of the spin texture suggests the existence of singular points. An ordered alloy of HgTe with ZnTe has the same effect as stretching the zincblende lattice in the (111) direction. We present ab initio calculations of ordered Hg_xZn_1-xTe that confirm the existence of a spin texture locked in a 2D plane on the Fermi surface with different winding numbers on either end.Comment: 8 pages, 8 figure

Frequency of Clinical Symptoms of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease in Asthmatic Patients

Background: Gastroesophageal reflex is known as an acid reflex, is long term condition where stomach contents back into the oesophagus resulting in either symptoms or complications. GERD disease is caused by weakness or failure of the lower oesophageal sphincter. Symptoms include the acidic taste behind the mouth, heart burn, chest pain, difficult breathing and vomiting. Complication includes esophagitis, oesophageal strictures and barrettes oesophagus. Objective: The aim of this research was to introduce the symptoms of GERD disease in asthmatic patients and how these symptoms worsen the symptoms of asthma disease and what clinical pictures present with the asthmatic disease. Methodology: A designed performa was used to collect the data and after filling the performa, results were drawn and conclusion through the facts and the information given by patients. Results: In the present study among all 164 asthmatic patients, 70 (42.7%) patients showed dyspepsia, 58 (35.4%) were with chest burning, 23 (14%) were asking about chest pain, with acidic mouth taste were 39 (23.8%), 22 (13.4%) were feeling sore throat and 44 (26.8%) showed regurgitation reflex. Among these 164 patients 16 (9.8%) were smokers and 148 (90.2 %) were non-smokers. 47 (28.7%) were males and 117 (71.3%) were females. Conclusion: It is concluded that gastroesophageal reflux disease in asthmatic patients present symptoms of acidic mouth taste, chest burning, chest pain, dyspepsia, regurgitation reflex and sore throat

    Dirac semimetal in three dimensions

In a Dirac semimetal, the conduction and valence bands contact only at discrete (Dirac) points in the Brillouin zone (BZ) and disperse linearly in all directions around these critical points. Including spin, the low energy effective theory around each critical point is a four band Dirac Hamiltonian. In two dimensions (2D), this situation is realized in graphene without spin-orbit coupling. 3D Dirac points are predicted to exist at the phase transition between a topological and a normal insulator in the presence of inversion symmetry. Here we show that 3D Dirac points can also be protected by crystallographic symmetries in particular space-groups and enumerate the criteria necessary to identify these groups. This reveals the possibility of 3D analogs to graphene. We provide a systematic approach for identifying such materials and present ab initio calculations of metastable \beta-cristobalite BiO_2 which exhibits Dirac points at the three symmetry related X points of the BZ.Comment: 6 pages, 4 figure

Analyzing the Performance of the SOFIA Infrared Telescope

The Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) is an airborne near-space observatory onboard a modified Boeing 747-SP aircraft, which flies at altitudes of 45,000 ft., above 99% of the Earth’s water vapor. SOFIA contains an effective 2.5 m infrared (IR) telescope that has a dichroic tertiary mirror, reflecting IR and visible wavelengths to the science instrument (SI) and focal plane imager (FPI), respectively. To date, seven different SIs have been designed to cover a wide range of wavelengths and spectral resolutions. Since the telescope operates in the infrared, different techniques, including chopping, nodding, and dithering, are used to reduce the background noise. After finishing renovations on the aircraft and software in 2013 and installing the FPI guide camera, the focus remains to determine how well the telescope pointed, whether it stayed there over the course of the observation, whether it was in focus, and what the pointing and tracking configuration and state of the telescope was. Through the use of bash scripts, and MATLAB routines, analyses of the telescope performance based on housekeeping time series- in particular centroid plots- and guide camera images will be used to determine the observatory performance
