Globalization Process Coordinates
Globalization is, perhaps, the most widely discussed phenomenon today. Globalization occasionally manifests itself dramatically in its effects on the lives of ordinary people. Globalization is not just a destructive force; it's also a powerful phenomenon in order to improve the material well-being of humankind. Even in such context, globalization is still not universally understood, and positions for or against are often taken on the basis of ideological leanings or good feelings. Globalization can bring benefits but, in the same time, can have very unpleasant implications. To cut the prices, to enlarge the telecommunication, to have the possibility of being connected to the âreal worldâ 24 hours are some of the positive consequences of globalization. The very close inter-dependences the globalization entails allow the propagation not only for the benefits but also for the risks. The possibility of âdefenceâ against a crisis or an economic or political instability, occurred in some part of the world, is smaller and smaller. The first consequence of what globalization means at the level of interdependences is, perhaps, represented by the crisis in Asia, whose effects were felt worldwide. This article describes the main dimension of globalization and examines some of the implication for both developed and developing countries.Globalization; informational revolution; benefits of globalization; costs of globalization; ciber crime
QUALITATIVE RESEARCH METHODS: A COMPARISON BETWEEN FOCUS-GROUP AND IN-DEPTH INTERVIEW
Qualitative research methods tend to be used more and more in academic research. The cost for these methods is quite low and the results may be very interesting and useful for many fields of study. However, the utility and the characteristic of qualitative research methods differ from subject to subject and from discipline to discipline. This paper comes close to a comparison of two qualitative research methods (focus-group and in-depth interview) used in investigating the opinion of academics, analyzing by comparison the results founded in a research conducted in the Bucharest University of Economics using focus group and in-depth interviews. The conclusions of the study reveal that apart of the limits states in the literature, there are other elements that can contribute to obtaining unrealistic results.Qualitative research methods, focus group, in-depth interview, academic research
Factors influencing student transition to online education in the COVID 19 pandemic lockdown: evidence from Romania
This study aims to identify factors influencing student transition to
online education (STOE) during the COVID19 pandemic in
Romania. Although Romania boasts high internet speed, accessibility and affordability, online education is in its infancy. Academic
experience variables found in the literature were narrowed into
five factors through exploratory factor analysis, and regressed
together with online platform and demographic variables to measure their impact on STOE. 565 business students from all academic
levels were surveyed. The study uncovered direct and inverse relationships between the five groups of factors, platform functionality, enrolment level and place of residence, and STOE. Findings are
relevant to academics and university managers for improving
online education
Commercial Activityâs Contribution to Sustainable Development by Social Responsability Actions: a Vision of SMEs
This paper reports on a small study concerning the development of the social responsibility concept, in order to reveal how this concept became an important element of the sustainable development. According to this relationship, there are presented the results of a qualitative research among small and middle- sized companies involved in commercial activity in Bucharest, to show the way in which their activities of social responsibility meet the national strategy of sustainable development. The conclusions of this paper support the literature in the field, that underlines the fact that small and middle companies involved in commercial activity are concerned mostly with the way they succeed in achieving the economic objectives, and social responsibility is understood more at a minimal level, that are connected with legal obligations. The way in which the activity of the company meets the demands of a sustainable development represents a diffuse preoccupation, totally subordinated to the objectives of economic performance.sustainable development, small and middle-sized companies with commercial activity, social responsibility, commercial activity
The European Union: internal coherence, external relevance
internal one, where the EU has to define the future of its internal
construction; and the external arena, where the EU has to establish what role it
must play and how to do it with a stronger voice.
Both challenges are important and mutually reinforcing. The EU is strong
outside as long as it is solid inside; it is a model for others as long as it is
attractive for its member
