Production of J/psi Mesons at HERA
Inelastic and diffractive production of J/psi mesons at HERA is reviewed. The
data on inelastic photoproduction are described well within errors by the
Colour Singlet Model in next-to-leading order. A search for colour octet
processes predicted within the NRQCD/factorisation approach is conducted in
many regions of phase space. No unambiguous evidence has been found to date.
Diffractive elastic production of J/psi mesons has been measured in the limit
of photoproduction up to the highest photon proton center of mass energies. The
increase of the cross section is described by pQCD models. At larger Q^2, the W
dependence is found to be similar to that observed in photoproduction. First
analyses of data at high t yield a powerlike dependence on |t|. A LO BFKL

Diffractive phenomena
The most recent theoretical and experimental results in the field of
diffractive scattering are reviewed. A parallel between the two current
theoretical approaches to diffraction, the DIS picture in the Breit frame and
the dipole picture in the target frame, is given, accompanied by a description
of the models to which the data are compared. A recent calculation of the
rescattering corrections, which hints at the universality of the diffractive
parton distribution functions, is presented. The concept of generalized parton
distributions is discussed together with the first measurement of the processes
which might give access to them. Particular emphasis is given to the HERA data,
to motivate why hard diffraction in deep inelastic scattering is viewed as an
unrivalled instrument to shed light on the still obscure aspects of hadronic

Open Charm Production at HERA
Measurements of charmed particle cross sections at HERA in the
photoproduction and deep inelastic regimes are reviewed. The status of the

Measurement of D*+/- diffractive cross sections in photoproduction at HERA
The first measurement of D*+/- meson diffractive photoproduction cross
sections has been performed with the ZEUS detector at the HERA collider,
using an integrated luminosity of 38 pb^-1. The measurement has been performed
for photon--proton center-of-mass energies in the range 130 < W < 280 GeV and
photon virtualities Q^2 < 1 GeV^2. D*+/- mesons have been reconstructed with
p_T(D*)>2 GeV and -1.5 D^0 \pi^+_s
with D^0 --> K-\pi^+ (+c.c.). The diffractive component has been selected with
0.001<x_Pom<0.018. The measured diffractive cross section in this kinematic
range is: \sigma_(ep --> e'D*Xp') =
0.74 +/- 0.21 (stat.)^{+0.27}_{-0.18} (syst.) +/-0.16 (p. diss.) ~nb (ZEUS
preliminary). Measured integrated and differential cross sections have been

Heavy Flavour Physics at HERA - a Survey
At the HERA collider at DESY, high energy electron and positron beams
interact with proton beams. A review is presented of the variety of ways in

Structure functions at large x
Structure function data together with other measurements from fixed-target
deep inelastic scattering and hadron-hadron collider experiments which
contribute to our knowledge of the parton density functions are reviewed. The
inclusive cross-section measurements of neutral and charged current
interactions at HERA are presented and their impact on the parton density
functions is discussed. Future prospects for an improved knowledge of the

Non-global logarithms in inter-jet energy flow with kt clustering requirement
Recent work in inter-jet energy flow has identified a class of leading
logarithms previously not considered in the literature. These so-called
non-global logarithms have been shown to have significant numerical impact on
gaps-between-jets calculations at the energies of current particle colliders.
Here we calculate, at fixed order and to all orders, the effect of applying
clustering to the gluonic final state responsible for these logarithms for a
trivial colour flow 2 jet system. Such a clustering algorithm has already been
used for experimental measurements at HERA. We find that the impact of the
non-global logarithms is reduced, but not removed, when clustering is demanded,
a result which is of considerable interest for energy flow observable

Nuclear shadowing in deep inelastic scattering on nuclei: leading twist versus eikonal approaches
We use several diverse parameterizations of diffractive parton distributions,
extracted in leading twist QCD analyses of the HERA diffractive deep inelastic
scattering (DIS) data, to make predictions for leading twist nuclear shadowing
of nuclear quark and gluon distributions in DIS on nuclei. We find that the
HERA diffractive data are sufficiently precise to allow us to predict large
nuclear shadowing for gluons and quarks, unambiguously. We performed detailed
studies of nuclear shadowing for up and charm sea quarks and gluons within
several scenarios of shadowing and diffractive slopes, as well as at central
impact parameters. We compare these leading twist results with those obtained
from the eikonal approach to nuclear shadowing (which is based on a very
different space-time picture) and observe sharply contrasting predictions for
the size and Q^2-dependence of nuclear shadowing. The most striking differences
arise for the interaction of small dipoles with nuclei, in particular for the
longitudinal structure function F_{L}^{A}.Comment: 43 pages, 16 figures, requires JHEP style fil
Gaps between Jets in the High Energy Limit
We use perturbative QCD to calculate the parton level cross section for the
production of two jets that are far apart in rapidity, subject to a limitation
on the total transverse momentum Q0 in the interjet region. We specifically
address the question of how to combine the approach which sums all leading
logarithms in Q/Q0 (where Q is the jet transverse momentum) with the BFKL
approach, in which leading logarithms of the scattering energy are summed. This
paper constitutes progress towards the simultaneous summation of all important
logarithms. Using an "all orders" matching, we are able to obtain results for
the cross section which correctly reproduce the two approaches in the
