Young feminists: a study about the young participation in feminism of Rio de Janeiro

Throughout its history the feminism was attended by many young generations, but only very recently, young women began to reclaim knowledge, and discussions an specific áreas within the youth movement, as was done by black and lesbians feminist from the 1980s. This dissertation seeks understand the factors that contribute for the formation identity of Young feminists and analyze its insertion in the contemporary feminist movement in Rio de Janeiro Metropolitan Region. For this, besides the literature review, methodological strategies were used as the observation of activities of the movement, the analysis of some documents and semi-structured interviews with young adult activists and feminist. Whereas that any action collective phenomenon expressed an unambiguous language, inside the diversity within feminism that makes up, the two major feminist articulations of local and national actions were taken as reference: the Articulation of Brazilian Women (Articulação de Mulheres Brasileiras) and the World March of Women (Marcha Mundial das Mulheres). Initially, the paper presents brief historical retrospective of feminism, which records the performance of its relevance to the many achievements towards equity between women and men. The articulation of feminist identities and youth is a strong reference to mothers and inclusion of young people in NGO s and/or others movements as defining of their approach to feminism, which often hadn t a good image. The participation of young people is marked by different perceptions about the intergenerational relations: some people understand as a harmony way, there are those that identify conflicts, but take the place of heirs from the movement legacy, and there are many others that problematize and do not accept there relationships and the place that often they are designed within the movement. As regards the specific guidelines of the young women, that rather than presenting new agendas, It s what happen the demand for a cut of generational issues already defended by the movement. In relation to specific areas for strengthening of youth within feminism, just one of those interviewees do not consider it necessary. However, different from what happens in Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro this segment was still not as collective subject.Ao longo de sua história o feminismo contou com a participação de inúmeras gerações juvenis, mas só muito recentemente as jovens passaram a reivindicar reconhecimento, espaços e discussões específicas de juventude dentro do movimento, assim como foi feito pelas feministas negras e lésbicas a partir dos anos de 1980. A presente dissertação busca compreender os elementos que contribuem para a constituição da identidade de jovens feministas e analisar sua inserção contemporânea no movimento feminista na Região Metropolitana do Rio de Janeiro. Para isto, além do levantamento bibliográfico, foram utilizadas como estratégias metodológicas a observação de atividades do movimento, a análise de alguns de seus documentos e entrevistas semiestruturadas com jovens e adultas militantes feministas. Considerando que nenhum fenômeno de ação coletiva expressa uma linguagem unívoca, dentro da diversidade que compõe o feminismo, duas das principais articulações feministas de atuação local e nacional foram tomadas como referência: a Articulação de Mulheres Brasileiras e a Marcha Mundial das Mulheres. Inicialmente, o trabalho apresenta breve retrospectiva histórica do feminismo, onde se registra a relevância da sua atuação para as inúmeras conquistas em direção à equidade entre mulheres e homens. Ente as jovens entrevistadas, a articulação das identidades feminista e juvenil revela como traços comuns a forte referência na figura materna e a inserção das jovens em ONGs e/ou outros movimentos como definidora de sua aproximação ao feminismo, do qual muitas vezes não tinham uma boa imagem. A participação delas é marcada por diferentes percepções acerca das relações intergeracionais: há quem as perceba de forma harmoniosa; há aquelas que identificam conflitos, mas assumem o lugar de herdeiras do legado do movimento; e há tantas outras que problematizam estas relações e não aceitam o lugar que, muitas vezes, lhes é destinado dentro do movimento. No que se refere a pautas específicas das jovens, constatase que mais do que apresentar novas pautas, o que acontece é a demanda de um recorte geracional de questões já defendidas pelo movimento. Em relação aos espaços específicos para fortalecimento das jovens dentro feminismo, apenas uma das entrevistadas não os considera necessário. No entanto, diferente do que acontece em âmbito nacional, no Rio de Janeiro este segmento ainda não se constituiu enquanto sujeito coletivo
