Exact solution of gyration radius of individual's trajectory for a simplified human mobility model
Gyration radius of individual's trajectory plays a key role in quantifying
human mobility patterns. Of particular interests, empirical analyses suggest
that the growth of gyration radius is slow versus time except the very early
stage and may eventually arrive to a steady value. However, up to now, the
underlying mechanism leading to such a possibly steady value has not been well
understood. In this Letter, we propose a simplified human mobility model to
simulate individual's daily travel with three sequential activities: commuting
to workplace, going to do leisure activities and returning home. With the
assumption that individual has constant travel speed and inferior limit of time
at home and work, we prove that the daily moving area of an individual is an
ellipse, and finally get an exact solution of the gyration radius. The
analytical solution well captures the empirical observation reported in [M. C.
Gonz`alez et al., Nature, 453 (2008) 779]. We also find that, in spite of the
heterogeneous displacement distribution in the population level, individuals in
our model have characteristic displacements, indicating a completely different
mechanism to the one proposed by Song et al. [Nat. Phys. 6 (2010) 818].Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure
Effects of relative orientation of the molecules on electron transport in molecular devices
Effects of relative orientation of the molecules on electron transport in
molecular devices are studied by non-equilibrium Green's function method based
on density functional theory. In particular, two molecular devices, with the
planer Au and Ag clusters sandwiched between the Al(100) electrodes
are studied. In each device, two typical configurations with the clusters
parallel and vertical to the electrodes are considered. It is found that the
relative orientation affects the transport properties of these two devices
completely differently. In the Al(100)-Au-Al(100) device, the conductance
and the current of the parallel configuration are much larger than those in the
vertical configuration, while in the Al(100)-Ag-Al(100) device, an
opposite conclusion is obtained
Manual discrimination of force
Optimal design of human-machine interfaces for teleoperators and virtual-environment systems which involve the tactual and kinesthetic modalities requires knowledge of the human's resolving power in these modalities. The resolution of the interface should be appropriately matched to that of the human operator. We report some preliminary results on the ability of the human hand to distinguish small differences in force under a variety of conditions. Experiments were conducted on force discrimination with the thumb pushing an interface that exerts a constant force over the pushing distance and the index finger pressing against a fixed support. The dependence of the sensitivity index d' on force increment can be fit by a straight line through the origin and the just-noticeable difference (JND) in force can thus be described by the inverse of the slope of this line. The receiver operating characteristic (ROC) was measured by varying the a priori probabilities of the two alternatives, reference force and reference force plus an increment, in one-interval, two-alternative, forced-choice experiments. When plotted on normal deviate coordinates, the ROC's were roughly straight lines of unit slope, thus supporting the assumption of equal-variance normal distributions and the use of the conventional d' measure. The JND was roughly 6-8 percent for reference force ranging from 2.5 to 10 newtons, pushing distance from 5 to 30 mm, and initial finger-span from 45 to 125 mm. Also, the JND remained the same when the subjects were instructed to change the average speed of pushing from 23 to 153 mm/sec. The pushing was terminated by reaching either a wall or a well, and the JND's were essentially the same in both cases
The radio structure of 3C 316, a galaxy with double-peaked narrow optical emission lines
The galaxy 3C\,316 is the brightest in the radio band among the
optically-selected candidates exhibiting double-peaked narrow optical emission
lines. Observations with the Very Large Array (VLA), Multi-Element Remotely
Linked Interferometer Network (e-MERLIN), and the European VLBI Network (EVN)
at 5\,GHz have been used to study the radio structure of the source in order to
determine the nature of the nuclear components and to determine the presence of
radio cores. The e-MERLIN image of 3C 316 reveals a collimated coherent
east-west emission structure with a total extent of about 3 kpc. The EVN image
shows seven discrete compact knots on an S-shaped line. However, none of these
knots could be unambiguously identified as an AGN core. The observations
suggest that the majority of the radio structure belongs to a powerful radio
AGN, whose physical size and radio spectrum classify it as a compact
steep-spectrum source. Given the complex radio structure with radio blobs and
knots, the possibility of a kpc-separation dual AGN cannot be excluded if the

Analysis of Y(4660) and related bound states with QCD sum rules
In this article, we take the vector charmonium-like state Y(4660) as a
bound state (irrespective of the hadro-charmonium and the
molecular state) tentatively, study its mass using the QCD sum rules, the
numerical value is consistent with the experimental
data. Considering the SU(3) symmetry of the light flavor quarks and the heavy
quark symmetry, we also study the bound states ,
and with the QCD sum rules,

Entanglement distillation using particle statistics
We extend the idea of entanglement concentration for pure states(Phys. Rev.
Lett. {\bf 88}, 187903) to the case of mixed states. The scheme works only with
particle statistics and local operations, without the need of any other
interactions. We show that the maximally entangled state can be distilled out
when the initial state is pure, otherwise the entanglement of the final state
is less than one. The distillation efficiency is a product of the diagonal
elements of the initial state, it takes the maximum 50%, the same as the case

Versatile Preparation of Mesoporous Single-Layered Transition-Metal Sulfide/Carbon Composites for Enhanced Sodium Storage
Transition metal sulfides are promise electrochemical energy storage materials due to their abundant active sites, large inter-layer space and high theoretical capacities. Especially for sodium storage. However, the low conductivity and poor cycling stability at high current densities hampered their applications. Herein, we report a versatile dual-templates method to elaborate ordered mesoporous single layered MoS2 /carbon composite with high specific area, uniform pore size and large pore volume. The single layered MoS2 is confined in the carbon matrix. The mesopores between the composite nanorods provide fast electrolyte diffusion. The obtained nanocomposite shows a high sodium storage capability, excellent rate capacity, and very good cycling performance. A 310 mAh g-1 capacity can remains at 5.0 A g-1 after 2500 cycles. Furthermore, a SIB full cell composed the MoS2 /carbon composite anode and a Na3 V2 (PO4 )3 (NVP) cathode maintains a specific capacity of 330Â mA h g-1 at 1.0 A g-1 during 100 cycles. Obstetric complications in women with polycystic ovary syndrome: a systematic review and meta-analysis
BACKGROUND: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common endocrine disorder in women of childbearing age. The risk of pregnancy and neonatal complications in women with PCOS is debatable. In order to determine the risk of pregnancy and neonatal complications, evidence regarding these risks was examined. METHODS: Literature searches were performed in the electronic databases MEDLINE, EMBASE, and CENTRAL based on the established strategy and eligible tries were included according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. A systematic literature review looking at rates of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH), preeclampsia, premature delivery, neonatal birth weight, caesarean section and admission to a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) was conducted in women with PCOS. Pregnancy outcomes between women with PCOS versus controls were included. Sensitivity analyses were performed to determine the reliability of the available evidence and to validate the results. The study was performed with the approval of the ethics committee of the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University. RESULTS: A total of 27studies, involving 4982 women with PCOS and 119692 controls were eligible for the meta-analysis. Women with PCOS demonstrated a significantly higher risk of developing GDM (OR3.43; 95% CI: 2.49–4.74), PIH (OR3.43; 95% CI: 2.49–4.74), preeclampsia (OR2.17; 95% CI: 1.91–2.46), preterm birth (OR1.93; 95%CI: 1.45–2.57), caesarean section (OR 1.74; 95% CI: 1.38–2.11) compared to controls. Their babies had a marginally significant lower birth weight (WMD −0.11g; 95%CI: -0.19 – -0.03), and higher risk of admission to NICU (OR 2.32; 95% CI: 1.40–3.85) compared to controls. CONCLUSIONS: Women with PCOS have increased risk of adverse pregnancy and neonatal complications. It is necessary to establish guidelines for supervision during pregnancy and parturition to prevent these complications
