    A resource-search and routing algorithm within PCDN autonomy area

    This paper studied a new type of network model; it is formed by the dynamic autonomy area, the structured source servers and the proxy servers. The new network model satisfies the dynamics within the autonomy area, where each node undertakes different tasks according to their different abilities, to ensure that each node has the load ability fit its own; it does not need to exchange information via the central servers, so it can carry out the efficient data transmission and routing search. According to the highly dynamics of the autonomy area, we established dynamic tree structure-proliferation system routing and resource-search algorithms and simulated these algorithms. Test results show the performance of the proposed network model and the algorithms are very stable. <br /

    Low-voltage-driven and highly-diffractive holographic polymer dispersed liquid crystals with spherical morphology

    It is a constant pursuit to form highly-diffractive and low-voltage-driven holographic polymer dispersed liquid crystals (HPDLCs) for meeting the requirements of practical applications. Nevertheless, the high-voltage-driven characteristic is usually given while improving the diffraction efficiency of HPDLCs, and it remains a challenge to form HPDLCs with concurrent features of high diffraction and low driving voltage via a simple method. In this work, we synthesize a non-room-temperature LC, 4-butyloxy-4â€Č-cyanobiphenyl (4OCB), and mix it with a room-temperature nematic LC mixture named P0616A. These new LC mixtures are then homogeneously mixed with monomers and a photoinitibitor composed of 3,3â€Č-carbonylbis(7-diethylaminocoumarin) (KCD) and N-phenylglycine (NPG), followed by patterning via laser interference, generating well-structured HPDLCs. The introduction of 4OCB into the standard formulation is found to be able to optimize the morphology and electro-optical properties of the resulting HPDLC transmission gratings. By doping 5 wt% of 4OCB into the HPDLCs, a high diffraction efficiency of 92 ± 3% is obtained; meanwhile, the threshold and saturated voltages significantly decrease by 80.8% (i.e., from 12.0 ± 0.8 to 2.3 ± 0.9 V ÎŒm−1) and 73.2% (i.e., from 19.0 ± 0.6 to 5.1 ± 0.7 V ÎŒm−1), respectively, in comparison with the pristine. The enhanced performance is believed to be ascribed to the formed larger LC droplets (70 ± 20 nm) and lower interface anchoring strength (0.7 ÎŒN m−1) of the polymer network on LCs

    Seamless integration of above- and under-canopy unmanned aerial vehicle laser scanning for forest investigation

    BackgroundCurrent automated forest investigation is facing a dilemma over how to achieve high tree- and plot-level completeness while maintaining a high cost and labor efficiency. This study tackles the challenge by exploring a new concept that enables an efficient fusion of aerial and terrestrial perspectives for digitizing and characterizing individual trees in forests through an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) that flies above and under canopies in a single operation. The advantage of such concept is that the aerial perspective from the above-canopy UAV and the terrestrial perspective from the under-canopy UAV can be seamlessly integrated in one flight, thus grants the access to simultaneous high completeness, high efficiency, and low cost.ResultsIn the experiment, an approximately 0.5ha forest was covered in ca. 10min from takeoff to landing. The GNSS-IMU based positioning supports a geometric accuracy of the produced point cloud that is equivalent to that of the mobile mapping systems, which leads to a 2-4cm RMSE of the diameter at the breast height estimates, and a 4-7cm RMSE of the stem curve estimates.ConclusionsResults of the experiment suggested that the integrated flight is capable of combining the high completeness of upper canopies from the above-canopy perspective and the high completeness of stems from the terrestrial perspective. Thus, it is a solution to combine the advantages of the terrestrial static, the mobile, and the above-canopy UAV observations, which is a promising step forward to achieve a fully autonomous in situ forest inventory. Future studies should be aimed to further improve the platform positioning, and to automatize the UAV operation.Peer reviewe

    Characterization of Bovine Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells by Lentiviral Transduction of Reprogramming Factor Fusion Proteins

    Pluripotent stem cells from domesticated animals have potential applications in transgenic breeding. Here, we describe induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells derived from bovine fetal fibroblasts by lentiviral transduction of Oct4, Sox2, Klf4 and c-Myc defined-factor fusion proteins. Bovine iPS cells showed typical colony morphology, normal karyotypes, stained positively for alkaline phosphatase (AP) and expressed Oct4, Nanog and SSEA1. The CpG in the promoter regions of Oct4 and Nanog were highly unmethylated in bovine iPS cells compared to the fibroblasts. The cells were able to differentiate into cell types of all three germ layers in vitro and in vivo. In addition, these cells were induced into female germ cells under defined culture conditions and expressed early and late female germ cell-specific genes Vasa, Dazl, Gdf9, Nobox, Zp2, and Zp3. Our data suggest that bovine iPS cells were generated from bovine fetal fibroblasts with defined-factor fusion proteins mediated by lentivirus and have potential applications in bovine transgenic breeding and gene-modified animals
