Effect of counter-rotating fan’s speed matching on stall inception and characteristics of tip clearance flow
In order to study the effect of speed matching on behavior of tip clearance flow and its possible link to stall inception in counter-rotating fan, the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved by the numerical method in conjunction with a SST turbulence model, the effect of speed matching on performance and stability margin are investigated, so are the difference of the tip clearance flow in different speed matching. Furthermore, the effect of speed matching on behavior of tip clearance flow and its possible link to stall inception are investigated. Research results show that: when the rotational speed of Rotor 2 is less than that of Rotor 1, with the decrease of rotational speed of Rotor 2 has no notable effect on tip clearance flow fields of the two rotors, therefore offset of stalling boundary is minor and strong blockage effect is observed in Rotor 1; when the rotational speed of Rotor 1 is less than that of Rotor 2, decrease of rotational speed of Rotor 1 show significant effect on the two rotors, which leads to major offset of stalling boundary, tip leakage flow performance of Rotor 1 improved, while that of Rotor 2 weakened and large blockage area occurs. By comparison, speed variation of Rotor 1 has more effect on stalling boundary of counter-rotating fan
Offshore subsurface characterization enabled by fiber-optic distributed acoustic sensing (DAS): An East China Sea 3D VSP survey example
Recent advances in distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) technology have allowed more intense measurements of subsurface and environment events, providing improved geohazard monitoring and subsurface characterization. This study discussed the subsurface evaluation enabled by the DAS-vertical seismic profiling (DAS-VSP) system in the East China Sea, China. Taking advantage of a continuous recording of the vibrational wavefields through the strain deformation of the fiber deployed along the borehole, DAS-VSP is considered an emerging and promising alternative borehole acquisition method. It provides a wider-spectrum range of recordings in a cheaper, denser, and more continuous tense compared to conventional geophones. We explored the 3D DAS-VSP signal processing and imaging strategy. Based on a set of 3D DAS-VSP data of exceptional quality, this study reviewed the common processing challenges and practical solutions for de-noise, de-ghosting, de-multiple, and wavefield separation arising from the DAS acquisition mechanism in the offshore VSP scenario. High-quality down-going multiples were separated and imaged using the pre-stack Gaussian beam depth migration in addition to the primary reflection wavefield, providing significant additional illumination to support the subsurface evaluation. The current results validated the efficiency of the DAS-VSP survey and encouraged better geological interpretation
Numerical study on aerodynamic noise performances of axial spacing in a contra-rotating axial fan
In order to study the effect of axial spacing on behaviors of aerodynamic performance and aerodynamic noises in a contra-rotating fan, the steady/unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations are solved by the numerical method in conjunction with a SST turbulence model, and the effects of axial spacing on performance and aerodynamic characteristics are investigated. Furthermore, BEM is adopted to compute the radiation noise of the contra-rotating fan caused by unsteady pressure fluctuations. The results show that axial spacing is an important factor which can affect the aerodynamic performance of contra-rotating fan. As a whole, the effect of axial spacing on the blade loading of Rotor 2 is significantly greater than that of Rotor 1. For Rotor 2, the smaller axial spacing leads to the large secondary flow loss, and the larger axial spacing leads to the strong mixing loss. With the increase of axial spacing, the radiation noise at the characteristic frequency decreases, but showed different changing degrees. With consideration of the aerodynamic performance and aerodynamic noises of the contra-rotating fan, the optimal comprehensive performance appears at the axial spacing of 0.5 chord
Learning to Skip for Language Modeling
Overparameterized large-scale language models have impressive generalization
performance of in-context few-shot learning. However, most language models
allocate the same amount of parameters or computation to each token,
disregarding the complexity or importance of the input data. We argue that in
language model pretraining, a variable amount of computation should be assigned
to different tokens, and this can be efficiently achieved via a simple routing
mechanism. Different from conventional early stopping techniques where tokens
can early exit at only early layers, we propose a more general method that
dynamically skips the execution of a layer (or module) for any input token with
a binary router. In our extensive evaluation across 24 NLP tasks, we
demonstrate that the proposed method can significantly improve the 1-shot
performance compared to other competitive baselines only at mild extra cost for
inference
Dynamical trust and reputation computation model for B2C E-Commerce
Trust is one of the most important factors that influence the successful application of network service environments, such as e-commerce, wireless sensor networks, and online social networks. Computation models associated with trust and reputation have been paid special attention in both computer societies and service science in recent years. In this paper, a dynamical computation model of reputation for B2C e-commerce is proposed. Firstly, conceptions associated with trust and reputation are introduced, and the mathematical formula of trust for B2C e-commerce is given. Then a dynamical computation model of reputation is further proposed based on the conception of trust and the relationship between trust and reputation. In the proposed model, classical varying processes of reputation of B2C e-commerce are discussed. Furthermore, the iterative trust and reputation computation models are formulated via a set of difference equations based on the closed-loop feedback mechanism. Finally, a group of numerical simulation experiments are performed to illustrate the proposed model of trust and reputation. Experimental results show that the proposed model is effective in simulating the dynamical processes of trust and reputation for B2C e-commerce
