    Chaos and bifurcations in chaotic maps with parameter q: Numerical and analytical studies

    In this paper, a class of chaotic maps with parameter q are introduced and bifurcations and chaos in proposed maps are numerical and analytical studied. Euler method is employed to get the continuous systems corresponding to chaotic maps and the fractional styles in Caputo's definition. Based on that, we finally infer a class of chaotic maps with the Adams–Bashforth–Moulton predictor-corrector method. In the simulation and analysis, we discuss the Logistic map with q and Hénon map with q, observe the route from period to chaos and do tests to analyze properties of maps with parameter q

    Hydrogen production by mixed culture of several facultative bacteria and anaerobic bacteria

    AbstractThe characteristic of hydrogen production by facultative anaerobic bacteria, obligate anaerobic bacteria and their mixed culture was studied by the batch culture method. The results showed that, due to the synergistic effect between facultative bacteria and anaerobic bacteria, the ability of hydrogen production in the mixed culture was much better than that in the pure culture. Especially, the culture Scheme No.7 mixed up with three strains (Bacterium. E: Bacterium. B: Bacterium. P = 1:1:1) not only had the best hydrogen production capacity (1.885 mol H2/mol glucose) and maximum average hydrogen production rate (212.2 mL/(L·h)), but also had stable hydrogen production under continuous culture conditions, which was 1.968 mol H2/mol glucose

    Discrete optimal actuator-fault-tolerant control for vehicle active suspension

    This paper studies the discrete actuator-fault-tolerant control problem for a vehicle active suspension system under persistent road disturbances. The discrete model of vehicle active suspension with actuator faults is formulated firstly, in which the actuator faults are described as the output of an exogenous system with unknown initial values. By designed a fault diagnoser, the optimal actuator-fault-tolerant controller is derived from the discrete Riccati equation and Stein equations, respectively. Simulation results illustrate that the ride comfort, road holding ability, and suspension deflection can be reduced significantly and the reliability of the vehicle active suspension can be improved

    Parallel Viterbi Decoding Implementation by Multi-microprocessors

    The Viterbi algorithm is a well-established technique for channel and source decoding in high performance digital communication systems. However, excessive time consumption makes it difficult to design an efficient highspeed decoder for practical application. The central unit of a Viterbi decoder is a data-dependent feedback loop which performs an add-compare-select (ACS) operation. This nonlinear recurrence is the bottleneck for a high-speed parallel implementation. This paper describes the implementation of parallel Viterbi algorithm by multi-microprocessors. Internal computations are performed in a parallel fashion. The use of microprocessors allows low-cost implementation with moderate complexity. An organization network, separate memory blocks and programs provide proper operation. For a fixed processing speed of given hardware parallel Viterbi decoding allows a linear speed up in the throughput rate by a linear increase in hardware complexity

    Long-term results of clear lens extraction combined with piggyback intraocular lens implantation to correct high hyperopia

    <b>AIM:</b> To assess the refractive outcome of clear lensectomy combined with piggyback intraocular lens implantation in highly hyperopic patients.<b>METHODS:</b> This case review included 19 eyes of 10 patients with high hyperopia and axial length less than 21mm. Intraocular lens power was calculated for emmetropia using the Holladay II formula in 17 eyes, and SRK/T formula in 2 eyes following clear lens extraction and piggyback intraocular lens implantation. Patients were examined periodically over 24 months for visual acuity and spherical equivalent (SE).<b>RESULTS:</b> The mean postoperative SE at 24 months was 0.20±1.39D (range, -3.00 to 2.50D), better than preoperative 9.81±2.62D (range, +6.00 to +14.50D) (<i>P</i><0.001). Five eyes had SE within ±0.5D of emmetropia and 11 eyes within ±1.00D at postoperative 24 months. The mean postoperative uncorrected visual acuity (UCVA) at 24 months was 0.60±0.36, significantly improved compared to preoperative 1.39±0.33 (<i>P</i><0.001). The mean best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) at 24 months was 0.49±0.35, not statistically different compared to preoperative 0.38±0.30 (<i>P</i>=0.34). Twelve eyes maintained and 1 gained 1 or more Snellen line of BCVA, 4 eyes lost 1 line, and 2 eyes lost 2 lines at 24 postoperative months. Twelve eyes best-corrected near visual acuity (BCNVA) achieved J1 at postoperative 24 months compared to preoperative 7 eyes and the other 7 eyes better than J3.<b>CONCLUSION:</b> Clear lens extraction combined piggyback intraocular lens implantation appears to be an effective procedure to correct high hyperopia but mild overcorrection and intralenticular opacification may require secondary procedure
