Non-transversality of the gluon polarization tensor in a chromomagnetic background
We investigate the question about the transversality of the gluon
polarization tensor in a homogeneous chromomagnetic background field. We
re-derive the non transversality known from a pure one loop calculation using
the Slavnov-Taylor identities. In addition we generalize the procedure to
arbitrary gauge fixing parameter and calculate the -dependent part
of the polarization tensor.Comment: subm. to TM
First results from the TUS orbital detector in the extensive air shower mode
TUS (Tracking Ultraviolet Set-up), the first orbital detector of extreme
energy cosmic rays (EECRs), those with energies above 50 EeV, was launched into
orbit on April 28, 2016, as a part of the Lomonosov satellite scientific
payload. The main aim of the mission is to test a technique of registering
fluorescent and Cherenkov radiation of extensive air showers generated by EECRs
in the atmosphere with a space telescope. We present preliminary results of its
operation in a mode dedicated to registering extensive air showers in the
period from August 16, 2016, to November 4, 2016. No EECRs have been
conclusively identified in the data yet, but the diversity of ultraviolet
emission in the atmosphere was found to be unexpectedly rich. We discuss
typical examples of data obtained with TUS and their possible origin. The data
is important for obtaining more accurate estimates of the nocturnal ultraviolet
glow of the atmosphere, necessary for successful development of more advanced
orbital EECR detectors including those of the KLYPVE (K-EUSO) and JEM-EUSO
missions.Comment: 18 pages; v2: references fixed; v3: minor changes to address

Tunka Advanced Instrument for cosmic rays and Gamma Astronomy
The paper is a script of a lecture given at the ISAPP-Baikal summer school in
2018. The lecture gives an overview of the Tunka Advanced Instrument for cosmic
rays and Gamma Astronomy (TAIGA) facility including historical introduction,
description of existing and future setups, and outreach and open data
activities.Comment: Lectures given at the ISAPP-Baikal Summer School 2018: Exploring the

Strangelet search at RHIC
Two position sensitive Shower Maximum Detector (SMDs) for Zero-Degree
Calorimeters (ZDCs) were installed by STAR before run 2004 at both upstream and
downstream from the interaction point along the beam axis where particles with
small rigidity are swept away by strong magnetic field. The ZDC-SMDs provides
information about neutral energy deposition as a function of transverse
position in ZDCs. We report the preliminary results of strangelet search from a
triggered data-set sampling 100 million Au+Au collisions at top RHIC energy.Comment: Strange Quark Matter 2004 conference proceedin
Production of Pairs Accompanied by Nuclear Dissociation in Ultra-Peripheral Heavy Ion Collision
We present the first data on pair production accompanied by nuclear
breakup in ultra-peripheral gold-gold collisions at a center of mass energy of
200 GeV per nucleon pair. The nuclear breakup requirement selects events at
small impact parameters, where higher-order corrections to the pair production
cross section should be enhanced. We compare the pair kinematic distributions
with two calculations: one based on the equivalent photon approximation, and
the other using lowest-order quantum electrodynamics (QED); the latter includes
the photon virtuality. The cross section, pair mass, rapidity and angular
distributions are in good agreement with both calculations. The pair transverse
momentum, , spectrum agrees with the QED calculation, but not with the
equivalent photon approach. We set limits on higher-order contributions to the
cross section. The and spectra are similar, with no evidence
for interference effects due to higher-order diagrams.Comment: 6 pages with 3 figures Slightly modified version that will appear in

Correlations in STAR: interferometry and event structure
STAR observes a complex picture of RHIC collisions where correlation effects
of different origins -- initial state geometry, semi-hard scattering,
hadronization, as well as final state interactions such as quantum intensity
interference -- coexist. Presenting the measurements of flow, mini-jet
deformation, modified hadronization, and the Hanbury Brown and Twiss effect, we
trace the history of the system from the initial to the final state. The
resulting picture is discussed in the context of identifying the relevant
degrees of freedom and the likely equilibration mechanism.Comment: 8 pages, 6 figures, plenary talk at the 5th International Conference

Pion interferometry in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[sNN]=200GeV
We present a systematic analysis of two-pion interferometry in Au+Au collisions at sqrt[sNN]=200GeV using the STAR detector at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. We extract the Hanbury-Brown and Twiss radii and study their multiplicity, transverse momentum, and azimuthal angle dependence. The Gaussianness of the correlation function is studied. Estimates of the geometrical and dynamical structure of the freeze-out source are extracted by fits with blast-wave parametrizations. The expansion of the source and its relation with the initial energy density distribution is studied
