Tunneling cosmological state revisited: Origin of inflation with a non-minimally coupled Standard Model Higgs inflaton
We suggest a path integral formulation for the tunneling cosmological state,
which admits a consistent renormalization and renormalization group (RG)
improvement in particle physics applications of quantum cosmology. We apply
this formulation to the inflationary cosmology driven by the Standard Model
(SM) Higgs boson playing the role of an inflaton with a strong non-minimal
coupling to gravity. In this way a complete cosmological scenario is obtained,
which embraces the formation of initial conditions for the inflationary
background in the form of a sharp probability peak in the distribution of the
inflaton field and the ongoing generation of the Cosmic Microwave Background
(CMB) spectrum on this background. Formation of this probability peak is based
on the same RG mechanism which underlies the generation of the CMB spectrum
which was recently shown to be compatible with the WMAP data in the Higgs mass
range . This brings to
life a convincing unification of quantum cosmology with the particle
phenomenology of the SM, inflation theory, and CMB observations.Comment: 18 pages, 3 figures, LaTe
Pinning down the kaon form factors in K^+ -> mu^+ nu_mu gamma decay
We find that the normal muon polarization in the decay K->mu nu_mu gamma is
very sensitive to the values of the kaon vector F_V and axial-vector F_A form
factors. It is shown that the ongoing KEK-E246 experiment can definitely
determine the signs of the sum of the form factors if their difference is fixed
from other considerations. This method can also verify the form factor values
and signs obtained from the K^+ -> l^+ nu_l e^+ e^- decays. A new experiment
with sensitivity to the normal and transverse muon polarizations of about 10^-4
will provide a unique possibility to determine the F_V and F_A values with a
few percent accuracy.Comment: revtex, 5 pages, 2 figures. Minor corrections made for the journal

Non-minimally Coupled Cosmological Models with the Higgs-like Potentials and Negative Cosmological Constant
We study dynamics of non-minimally coupled scalar field cosmological models
with Higgs-like potentials and a negative cosmological constant. In these
models the inflationary stage of the Universe evolution changes into a
quasi-cyclic stage of the Universe evolution with oscillation behaviour of the
Hubble parameter from positive to negative values. Depending on the initial
conditions the Hubble parameter can perform either one or several cycles before
to become negative forever.Comment: 22 pages, 6 figures, v4:Section 2 expanded, references added,

Investigation of Coolant Mixing in Reactor VVER-1000
We present an experimental investigation of coolant mixing in downcomer and lower plenum of VVER-1000 here. The arrangement of the problem, the methodology and results are discussed. Three groups of experiments simulating coolant mixing were executed: in conditions of RCP start-up, during natural circulation recovery in the course of SB LOCA and in conditions of stable operation of different amount of RCPs. Results of experiments are used for validation of numerical codes
Fermions and Kaluza-Klein vacuum decay: a toy model
We address the question of whether or not fermions with twisted periodicity
condition suppress the semiclassical decay of M^4xS^1 Kaluza--Klein vacuum. We
consider a toy (1+1)-dimensional model with twisted fermions in cigar-shaped
Euclidean background geometry and calculate the fermion determinant. We find
that contrary to expectations, the determinant is finite. We consider this as
an indication that twisted fermions do not stabilize the Kaluza--Klein vacuum.Comment: 13 pages, 2 figure
The Lake Baikal neutrino experiment: selected results
We review the present status of the lake Baikal Neutrino Experiment and
present selected physical results gained with the consequetive stages of the
stepwise increasing detector: from NT-36 to NT-96. Results cover atmospheric
muons, neutrino events, very high energy neutrinos, search for neutrino events
from WIMP annihilation, search for magnetic monopoles and environmental
studies. We also describe an air Cherenkov array developed for the study of
angular resolution of NT-200.Comment: 25 pages, 12 figures. To appear in the Procrrdings of International

JUNO Conceptual Design Report
The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO) is proposed to determine
the neutrino mass hierarchy using an underground liquid scintillator detector.
It is located 53 km away from both Yangjiang and Taishan Nuclear Power Plants
in Guangdong, China. The experimental hall, spanning more than 50 meters, is
under a granite mountain of over 700 m overburden. Within six years of running,
the detection of reactor antineutrinos can resolve the neutrino mass hierarchy
at a confidence level of 3-4, and determine neutrino oscillation
parameters , , and to
an accuracy of better than 1%. The JUNO detector can be also used to study
terrestrial and extra-terrestrial neutrinos and new physics beyond the Standard
Model. The central detector contains 20,000 tons liquid scintillator with an
acrylic sphere of 35 m in diameter. 17,000 508-mm diameter PMTs with high
quantum efficiency provide 75% optical coverage. The current choice of
the liquid scintillator is: linear alkyl benzene (LAB) as the solvent, plus PPO
as the scintillation fluor and a wavelength-shifter (Bis-MSB). The number of
detected photoelectrons per MeV is larger than 1,100 and the energy resolution
is expected to be 3% at 1 MeV. The calibration system is designed to deploy
multiple sources to cover the entire energy range of reactor antineutrinos, and
to achieve a full-volume position coverage inside the detector. The veto system
is used for muon detection, muon induced background study and reduction. It
consists of a Water Cherenkov detector and a Top Tracker system. The readout
system, the detector control system and the offline system insure efficient and
stable data acquisition and processing.Comment: 328 pages, 211 figure
