This paper presents an overview of evaluation of ISTCP in China. We discuss briefly the history of evaluation and the strengths and weaknesses of different assessment systems. On this basis, with Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), we establish evaluation indicator system for ISTCP that includes research project establishment evaluation, mid-period evaluation system, effect evaluation system, and confirm the value of each indicator. At the same time, we established expert database, project database, research organization database, researcher database etc. We therefore establish an evaluation platform for international science and technology cooperation project. We use it to realize full process supervision from evaluation expert selection to project management

The aim of this study was to evaluate carotid arterial wall elasticity in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with microalbuminuria by real-time ultrasound elastography. Two hundred and ten T2DM patients were divided into two groups according to levels of urinary albumin excretion (UAE): T2DM without microalbuminuria (T2DM1 group, 120) and T2DM with microalbuminuria (T2DM2 group, 90). The right common carotid arteries were examined by real-time ultrasound elastography. The strain ratio (SR, blood to arterial wall strain ratio) was calculated by dividing the strain value of the blood by that of the carotid arterial wall. The correlation between SR and general data was analyzed. The mean SR value ± SD of T2DM2 group was significantly higher than that of T2DM1 group (P < 0.05). SR was positively and significantly correlated with UAE, HbA1c, and systolic blood pressure (r = 0.456,0.435,0.235, P < 0.05 for all). The mean value ± SD of UAE, HbA1c, 2hPG, BMI, and TC of T2DM2 group was significantly higher than that of T2DM1 group (P < 0.05 for all). In conclusion, there is an association between microalbuminuria and carotid arterial wall elasticity in T2DM patients

Extra boson mix with Z boson explaining the mass of W boson

We explore the possibility of explaining the W mass with an extra gauge boson mixing with the Z boson at tree level. Extra boson mixing with Z boson will change the expression of Z boson mass, thus altering the W boson mass. We explore two models in this work. We find that in the Derivative Portal Dark Matter model, there are parameters space which can give the observed W boson mass. And in the U(1) extension model, the kinetic mixing between extra boson and B boson can also predict the observed W boson mass. Both model indicate an extra vector boson with best fit mass around 120 GeV.Comment: 12 pages, 3 figure

Betanodavirus non-structural protein B1: A novel anti-necrotic death factor that modulates cell death in early replication cycle in fish cells

AbstractThe functions of the Betanodavirus non-structural protein B1 is still unknown. We examined B1 expression patterns and investigated novel cell death regulatory functions for this viral protein following RGNNV infection in fish cells. The B1 gene (336 nt) was cloned from the redspotted grouper nervous necrosis virus (RGNNV) genome. B1 mRNA was rapidly expressed in the fish cells from viral RNA3 at 12 h post-infection (p.i.). At the protein level, expression was low at 12 h p.i., and then increased rapidly between 24 h and 72 h p.i. In RGNNV-infected, B1-containing fish cells, over expression of RGNNV B1 reduced Annexin-V positive cells by 50% and 65% at 48 h and 72 h p.i., respectively, and decreased loss of mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) by 20% and 70% at 48 h and 72 h p.i., respectively. Finally, B1 knockdown during RGNNV infection using anti-sense RNA increased necrotic cell death and reduced cell viability during the early replication cycle (24 h p.i.). Our results suggest that B1 is an early expression protein that has an anti-necrotic cell death function which reduces the MMP loss and enhances viral host cell viability. This finding provides new insights into RNA viral pathogenesis and disease control
