    Hysteretic autoregressive time series models

    Get PDF
This paper extends the classical two-regime threshold autoregressive model by introducing hysteresis to its regime-switching structure, which leads to a new model: the hysteretic autoregressive model. The proposed model enjoys the piecewise linear structure of a threshold model but has a more flexible regime switching mechanism. A sufficient condition is given for geometric ergodicity. Conditional least squares estimation is discussed, and the asymptotic distributions of its estimators and information criteria for model selection are derived. Simulation results and an example support the model.postprin

Development of metal-containing polymers for optoelectronic applications

Most of the work in organic electroluminescent polymers has been focused on organic conjugated polymers. However, polymers attached with transition metal complex have received relatively less attention. We have synthesized and studied the light emitting properties of some metal containing polymers based on the polypyridine complexes of rhenium and ruthenium. These complexes exhibit long-lived excited states caused by the metal to ligand charge transfer transitions. By varying the structure of the ligand and/or the transition metal, we are able to fine-tune the electronic properties of the resulting metal complexes. We have synthesized a series of poly(phenylenevinylene) (PPV) derivatives which are functionalized with ruthenium polypyridine complexes at the polymer mainchain or side chain. These complexes are able to act as photosensitizers which enhance the photoconductivity of these polymers at longer wavelength. Both the conjugatedbackbone and the metal complex can emit light upon excitation. As a result, it is possible to tune the color by loading different amount of ruthenium complex to the polymer. Luminescence studies showed that the ruthenium complex could quench the emission of the conjugated backbone in some polymers, which suggests an energy transfer processbetween the backbone and the metal complexes. It was also found that the presence of metal complexes could enhance the charge carrier mobilities of the polymers, as the metal and/or ligands can act as extra charge carriers in the charge transport process.published_or_final_versio

Is XML-based test case prioritization for validating WS-BPEL evolution effective in both average and adverse scenarios?

    Get PDF
In real life, a tester can only afford to apply one test case prioritization technique to one test suite against a service-oriented workflow application once in the regression testing of the application, even if it results in an adverse scenario such that the actual performance in the test session is far below the average. It is unclear whether the factors of test case prioritization techniques known to be significant in terms of average performance can be extrapolated to adverse scenarios. In this paper, we examine whether such a factor or technique may consistently affect the rate of fault detection in both the average and adverse scenarios. The factors studied include prioritization strategy, artifacts to provide coverage data, ordering direction of a strategy, and the use of executable and non-executable artifacts. The results show that only a minor portion of the 10 studied techniques, most of which are based on the iterative strategy, are consistently effective in both average and adverse scenarios. To the best of our know-ledge, this paper presents the first piece of empirical evidence regarding the consistency in the effectiveness of test case prioritization techniques and factors of service-oriented workflow applications between average and adverse scenarios.published_or_final_versio
