Mask Off: Analytic-based Malware Detection By Transfer Learning and Model Personalization
The vulnerability of smartphones to cyberattacks has been a severe concern to
users arising from the integrity of installed applications (\textit{apps}).
Although applications are to provide legitimate and diversified on-the-go
services, harmful and dangerous ones have also uncovered the feasible way to
penetrate smartphones for malicious behaviors. Thorough application analysis is
key to revealing malicious intent and providing more insights into the
application behavior for security risk assessments. Such in-depth analysis
motivates employing deep neural networks (DNNs) for a set of features and
patterns extracted from applications to facilitate detecting potentially
dangerous applications independently. This paper presents an Analytic-based
deep neural network, Android Malware detection (ADAM), that employs a
fine-grained set of features to train feature-specific DNNs to have consensus
on the application labels when their ground truth is unknown. In addition, ADAM
leverages the transfer learning technique to obtain its adjustability to new
applications across smartphones for recycling the pre-trained model(s) and
making them more adaptable by model personalization and federated learning
techniques. This adjustability is also assisted by federated learning guards,
which protect ADAM against poisoning attacks through model analysis. ADAM
relies on a diverse dataset containing more than 153000 applications with over
41000 extracted features for DNNs training. The ADAM's feature-specific DNNs,
on average, achieved more than 98% accuracy, resulting in an outstanding
performance against data manipulation attacks

Fabrication of Microstructure Array using the Projection Microstereolithography System
Microstereolithography technology is similar to the conventional stereolithography process and enables to fabricate a complex 3D microstructure. This is divided into scanning and projection type according to aiming at precision and fabrication speed. The scanning MSL fabricates each layer using position control of laser spot on the resin surface, whereas the projection MSL fabricates one layer with one exposure using a mask. In the projection MSL, DMD used to generate dynamic pattern consists of micromirrors which have per side. The fabrication range and resolution are determined by the field of view of the DMD and the magnification of the projection lens. If using the projection lens with high power, very fine microstructures can be fabricated. In this paper, the projection MSL system adapted to a large surface for array-type fabrication is presented. This system covers the meso range, which is defined as the intermediate range between micro and macro, with a resolution of a few . The fabrication of array-type microstructures has been demonstrated to verify the performance of implemented system
Upper Gastrointestinal Tract Foreign Bodies
Foreign body ingestion, a common emergency encountered in clinical practice, is a potentially serious condition. Most foreign bodies in the gastrointestinal tract pass spontaneously. However, objects that are relatively long or large may lodge in the upper gastrointestinal tract, potentially causing perforation, bleeding, and obstruction. This literature review summarizes the natural history and clinical aspects of these types of foreign bodies in adults as well as the various methods for their removal. Endoscopic removal is a relatively safe and effective procedure for removing these types of foreign bodies. The development of endoscopic techniques and devices has resulted in their widespread use, with good results, as the primary treatment
Tip-Enhanced Raman Scattering Imaging of Two-Dimensional Tungsten Disulfide with Optimized Tip Fabrication Process
We successfully achieve the tip-enhanced nano Raman scattering images of a tungsten disulfide monolayer with optimizing a fabrication method of gold nanotip by controlling the concentration of etchant in an electrochemical etching process. By applying a square-wave voltage supplied from an arbitrary waveform generator to a gold wire, which is immersed in a hydrochloric acid solution diluted with ethanol at various ratios, we find that both the conical angle and radius of curvature of the tip apex can be varied by changing the ratio of hydrochloric acid and ethanol. We also suggest a model to explain the origin of these variations in the tip shape. From the systematic study, we find an optimal condition for achieving the yield of similar to 60% with the radius of similar to 34 nm and the cone angle of similar to 35 degrees. Using representative tips fabricated under the optimal etching condition, we demonstrate the tip-enhanced Raman scattering experiment of tungsten disulfide monolayer grown by a chemical vapor deposition method with a spatial resolution of similar to 40 nm and a Raman enhancement factor of similar to 4,760. © The Author(s) 2017
