    Visualizing an Execution Trace as a Compact Sequence Diagram Using Dominance Algorithms

    Visualizing an execution trace of an object-oriented system as sequence diagrams is effective to understand the behavior of the system. However, sequence diagrams extracted from an execution trace are too large for developers to inspect since a trace involves a large number of objects and method calls. To support developers to understand extracted sequence diagrams, it is necessary to remove the less important details of the diagrams. In this paper, we apply a dominance algorithm to a dynamic call graph among objects in order to detect and remove local objects contributing to internal behavior of dominator objects.     The Novel Eryngii Method of Nipple Reduction for Female-to-Male Transsexuals

    Nosaka, NobuyukiMastectomy is usually the first and most important surgical procedure in female-to-male (FTM) individuals with gender identity disorder. Nipple reduction is also important in the process of reconstructing the chest wall for a more male appearance. If the nipples remain large after a mastectomy, the results may be disappointing to many FTM transsexuals. Nipple reduction enables these individuals to go to the beach or Japanese public baths, where they may go topless in public. We therefore consider that nipple reduction is indicated for all FTM transsexuals who desire it. There are a variety of methods for the reduction of enlarged nipples for women or non-FTM patients, but only a few reports have described the process used to create masculine-appearing nipples for FTM transsexuals. We developed a novel technique called the Eryngii method for creating male-like nipples using a 4-mm diameter dermal punch knife. The name of the method refers to the Eryngii king trumpet mushroom, which the nipple resembles after the surgical process. The main strength of this method is that it permits the creation of ideal nipples without difficulty. Here we introduce the technique and discuss our history of surgical methods for nipple reduction, including improvements and elaborations

    Relationships between the Prediction of Linear MHD Stability Criteria and the Experiment in LHD

    We analyze the relationship between the experimentally observed pressure gradients at resonant rational surfaces and the theoretically predicted ideal magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) unstable region of global modes in the large helical device (LHD). According to the stability analysis of the ideal MHD modes with a low toroidal mode number, we find that the ideal MHD mode gives a constraint on the operational regime of the pressure gradients in the core. In the edge, a clear saturation of the pressure gradients due to the ideal MHD instability has not been observed up to the high beta regime around 3% as the volume-averaged toridal beta value, where global ideal MHD modes are predictedto be unstable

    Nuclear export of the influenza virus ribonucleoprotein complex: Interaction of Hsc70 with viral proteins M1 and NS2

    The influenza virus replicates in the host cell nucleus, and the progeny viral ribonucleoprotein complex (vRNP) is exported to the cytoplasm prior to maturation. NS2 has a nuclear export signal that mediates the nuclear export of vRNP by the vRNP-M1-NS2 complex. We previously reported that the heat shock cognate 70 (Hsc70) protein binds to M1 protein and mediates vRNP export. However, the interactions among M1, NS2, and Hsc70 are poorly understood. In the present study, we demonstrate that Hsc70 interacts with M1 more strongly than with NS2 and competes with NS2 for M1 binding, suggesting an important role of Hsc70 in the nuclear export of vRNP

    Catecholamines Facilitate Fuel Expenditure and Protect Against Obesity via a Novel Network of the Gut-Brain Axis in Transcription Factor Skn-1-deficient Mice

    AbstractTaste signals and nutrient stimuli sensed by the gastrointestinal tract are transmitted to the brain to regulate feeding behavior and energy homeostasis. This system is referred to as the gut-brain axis. Here we show that both brush cells and type II taste cells are eliminated in the gastrointestinal tract of transcription factor Skn-1 knockout (KO) mice. Despite unaltered food intake, Skn-1 KO mice have reduced body weight with lower body fat due to increased energy expenditure. In this model, 24-h urinary excretion of catecholamines was significantly elevated, accompanied by increased fatty acid β-oxidation and fuel dissipation in skeletal muscle and impaired insulin secretion driven by glucose. These results suggest the existence of brain-mediated energy homeostatic pathways originating from brush cells and type II taste cells in the gastrointestinal tract and ending in peripheral tissues, including the adrenal glands.     ALS clinically presenting with PMA

    Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) primarily affects upper and lower motor neurons. Phosphorylated TAR DNA-binding protein of 43 kDa (TDP-43) inclusion bodies are reportedly a pathological hallmark of sporadic ALS. Here, we present an atypical case of sporadic ALS that progressed very slowly, persisted for 19 years, and clinically appeared to only affect the lower motor neurons; however, upper motor neuron degeneration was detected on autopsy. Furthermore, no inclusion bodies positive for phosphorylated TDP-43, ubiquitin, fused in sarcoma, or SOD1 were detected in the CNS. We performed exome-sequencing data analysis but found no genetic disorders. This was therefore an unusual case of lower motor neuron-predominant ALS without TDP-43 pathology or known gene-disease associations. We also reviewed autopsied ALS cases that progressed slowly and had no phosphorylated TDP-43 or ubiquitin positive inclusions and present the clinicopathological features of such cases. Based on these results, there may be a sporadic ALS subgroup that progresses slowly and shows 76 no accumulation of phosphorylated TDP-43
