The Emergence of New Santri in Indonesia

To an extent never seen before, following the collapse of the Soeharto regime in 1998 Islamist groups in Indonesia began to express themselves vocally and expli­citly. Islamic discourse has developed apace, ranging from demands that the state lift the ban on the role of Islamic ideology in political parties and mass organizations to accommodate Muslim interests up to calls for the imple­men­tation of Islamic shari`ah to replace the so-called secular laws of state. These recent phenomena indicate the emergence of new santris (devout Muslims) differing from their own parents and the older generation in terms of political orientation, religious ideology, and attitude towards inherited traditions. These new types of santri are not only influenced by the local and changing dynamics of Indonesian politics, society and culture but they are also subject to International influences in Islam. Within Indonesia, some of them retain their links with traditionalist or modernist groups, some others keep their distance from them and yet still others show radical orientations. They have become very influential within certain sections of Indonesian society and have gained attention from many observers and researchers

Muslim Intellectuals or Housemaids? the Saudi Perceptions of the Indonesian Domestic Workers

Indonesia is certainly the world\u27s largest Muslim country. Its big population however is not capable of offering a big contribution for the world. Indonesia was a major player on the world stage politically and intellectually. But that role has disappeared with the disappearance of Indonesia\u27s most vibrant minds. This paper tries to exploit the rise and the fall of Indonesian role on the International stage particularly by looking at the presence of the Indonesian workers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and how the Saudis perceive these workers. The paper argues that there is an observable development in the way Indonesia and its people have been perceived in this particular part of the world. In the past, they were respected as intellectuals while at the present they are humiliated as domestic workers. This paper analyzes this setback in the Indonesian role and with it the changing perceptions of the Saudis in particular and the Arabs in general concerning Indonesians in the Middle East. At the end, the paper is concerned with showing how that low perception affects the relation between Indonesia and the Arab countries

, Background problem in this research is the low throwing results of the students of SMAN 2 Ujung Tanjung. Of KKM targeted not all students are able to achieve. This problem can be seen from the observation of researcher during school learning, it is suspected because of the arm-shoulder muscle strength and back flexibility owned by students. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the corelation between strength arm-shoulder muscles and back flexibility with disc throw results students class XI SMAN 2 Ujung Tanjung. This type of research is correlational comparing the measurement results of two different variables in order to determine the degree of correlation between these variables. As independent variables (X1) is a trength arm-shoulder muscles, (X2) back flexibility, while the dependent variable (Y) is the disc throw results. The research data was obtained from the measurement results using flexiometer, expanding dynamometer test and discus throwing. The sample in this study were male students of SMAN 2 Ujung Tanjung who totaled 35 people (total sampling). Based on the research results can be concluded as follows: From the results obtained strength of arm shoulders muscles have a corelation with the results of discus throwing at SMA Negeri 2 Ujung Tanjung Tanah Putih, where rhitung (0375)> rtabel (0.334) at α = 0 05. From the results obtained flexibility of the waist have a corelation with the discus throwing results at SMA Negeri 2 Ujung Tanjung Tanah Putih, where rhitung (0384)> rtabel (0.334) at α = 0.05. An corelation was jointly between strength shoulder arms muscle and back flexibility with discus throwing results of at SMA Negeri 2 Ujung Tanjung Tanah Putih, where rhtung (0485)> rtabel (0.334) at α = 0.05

Reproduction Biology Eastern Little Tuna Euthynnus Affinis in the Sunda Strait

Eastern little tuna is small pelagic fish that has high economic value. Fishing effort of the eastern little tuna for the last eight years have also exceeded the optimum level. To ensure the sustainability of the pelagic fish resources, it is necessary to perform the management efforts. This study was to observe reproductive Biology of the eastern little tuna, as one of the necessary information in the management of fishery resources. Fish -samples were collected from the catch of local fishermen in April-August 2015. Based on T test (α = 0,05), the eastern little tuna males and females showed positive allometric growth patterns. Average size of the first time caught fish for the female (308,37 mm) and male (280,63 mm) was smaller than that observed in those first time maturity gonads (ranging 407-408 mm for female and 438-440 mm for male). The eastern little tuna spawn gradually or partially (partial spawner), and have high reproductive potential with fecundity ranged 17.814-560.792 eggs (average fecundity: 109.807) in fish of 285-630 mm body length. The gonad maturity level of the eastern Little Tuna is dominated by Gonad maturity level I and II,(immature). The value of gonad maturity for the female level is about 0,0769-0,6879 and the male is 0,1913-0,3000
