The phenomenon of lifestyle retail in China: from literature review to research propositions
In this study, we focused on apparel lifestyle fashion stores (e.g., Anthropologie), which convey their values and meanings by building attractive physical store environment and providing unique products and/or services. The purpose of this study was to investigate the phenomenon of lifestyle retail in China. In specific, we utilized a review of literature method to explore (1) the meanings and functions of lifestyle retailing in China, (2) Chinese consumers\u27 current lifestyles, and (3) the influence of store environment under lifestyle retailing. The total number of publications that we reviewed was 56, most of which are academic journals or books. Four research propositions were developed as the outcomes of our literature analysis and the guidance for the future empirical studies in this emerging research area. Current study is calling more research attention to the phenomenon of lifestyle retail in China

The State of Digital Media Data Research, 2023
DMD Report website: https://mddatacoop.org/dmd/The purpose of this report is to provide an account of digital media data (DMD) research practices and to highlight its ongoing challenges. We define DMD as data that are collected, extracted, gathered, or scraped from a web-based platform such as a
website, social networking site, mobile application, or another virtual space. We break
these practices and their challenges into three stages—collection, analysis, and sharing.
We argue that continuing digital media data (DMD) research should be guided by four
principles: collaboration, transparency, preparation, and consistency.
1. COLLABORATION: Working together on protocols for DMD research can occur across all stages of the research pipeline, including setting norms for data
sharing, producing baseline research, and co-developing archives.
2. TRANSPARENCY: Make code and data accessible to other researchers, when
possible. Open-source software development is especially helpful for advancing
research in a transparent manner. Given the cost for collecting, storing, and
analyzing DMD, we also encourage researchers to provide these details in their
publications.
3. PREPARATION: Researchers should anticipate the risks or challenges to
collecting, analyzing, and reporting on DMD. Emerging methods for data
collection, such as donated data, provide a new mechanism for studying user-consented data.
4. CONSISTENCY: We end with this principle because it builds on the
aforementioned three as, when researchers are collaborative, transparent and
prepared, research approaches will be more consistent, allowing us to compare
across studies and identify situational contexts that require nuanced protocol. This work has been generously supported by the Social Science Research Council.Journalis
An early predictive model for Kawasaki disease shock syndrome in children in central China
IntroductionThis study aims to analyze the clinical features of Kawasaki disease (KD) shock syndrome (KDSS) and explore its early predictors.MethodsA retrospective case–control study was used to analyze KD cases from February 2016 to October 2023 in our hospital. A total of 28 children with KDSS and 307 children who did not develop KDSS were included according to matching factors. Baseline information, clinical manifestations, and laboratory indicators were compared between the two groups. Indicators of differences were analyzed based on univariate analysis; binary logistic regression analysis was used to identify the risk factors for KDSS, and then receiver operating characteristic analysis was performed to establish a predictive score model for KDSS.ResultsElevated neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio(NLR) and decreased fibrinogen (FIB) and Na were independent risk factors for KDSS; the scoring of the above risk factors according to the odds ratio value eventually led to the establishment of a new scoring system: NLR ≥ 7.99 (6 points), FIB ≤ 5.415 g/L (1 point), Na ≤ 133.05 mmol/L (3 points), and a total score of ≥3.5 points were high-risk factors for progression to KDSS; otherwise, they were considered to be low-risk factors.ConclusionChildren with KD with NLR ≥ 7.99, FIB ≤ 5.415 g/L, and Na ≤ 133.05 mmol/L, and those with two or more of the above risk factors, are more likely to progress to KDSS, which helps in early clinical diagnosis and treatment
Geographical variations in maternal dietary patterns during pregnancy associated with birth weight in Shaanxi province, Northwestern China
The geographical variation of maternal dietary patterns related to birth outcomes is important for improving the health of mothers and children; however, it is currently unknown. Thus, the objective of the study was to investigate geographical variations of maternal dietary pattern during pregnancy, and evaluate the spatial varying association of maternal dietary patterns in pregnancy with abnormal birth weight. A population-based cross-sectional study was conducted in Shaanxi province in Northwest China in 2013 to evaluate the relationship between abnormal birth weight and dietary pattern using the Geographically Weighted Logistic Regression (GWLR). Three dietary patterns during pregnancy were extracted through factor analysis, explaining approximately 45.8% of the variability of food intake. Approximately 81.6% of mothers with higher scores on the equilibrium pattern was more unlikely to have small for gestational age (SGA) infants, with the lower OR observed in Central and South Shaanxi. The snacks pattern was positively associated with low birth weight (LBW) for 23.2% of participants, with the highest OR in Central Shaanxi. Among about 80.0% of participants with higher scores on the snacks pattern living in South and Central Shaanxi, there was a higher risk for SGA. The OR values tend to descend from South to North Shaanxi. The OR values of the negative association between prudent pattern and LBW decreased from South to North Shaanxi among approximately 59.3% of participants. The prudent pattern was also negatively associated with the increasing risk of fetal macrosomia among 19.2% of participants living mainly in South Shaanxi. The association of maternal dietary patterns during pregnancy with abnormal birth weight varied geographically across Shaanxi province. The findings emphasize the importance of geographical distribution to improve the dietary patterns among disadvantaged pregnant women
