    A One-dimensional HEVC video steganalysis method using the Optimality of Predicted Motion Vectors

    Among steganalysis techniques, detection against motion vector (MV) domain-based video steganography in High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) standard remains a hot and challenging issue. For the purpose of improving the detection performance, this paper proposes a steganalysis feature based on the optimality of predicted MVs with a dimension of one. Firstly, we point out that the motion vector prediction (MVP) of the prediction unit (PU) encoded using the Advanced Motion Vector Prediction (AMVP) technique satisfies the local optimality in the cover video. Secondly, we analyze that in HEVC video, message embedding either using MVP index or motion vector differences (MVD) may destroy the above optimality of MVP. And then, we define the optimal rate of MVP in HEVC video as a steganalysis feature. Finally, we conduct steganalysis detection experiments on two general datasets for three popular steganography methods and compare the performance with four state-of-the-art steganalysis methods. The experimental results show that the proposed optimal rate of MVP for all cover videos is 100\%, while the optimal rate of MVP for all stego videos is less than 100\%. Therefore, the proposed steganography scheme can accurately distinguish between cover videos and stego videos, and it is efficiently applied to practical scenarios with no model training and low computational complexity.Comment: Submitted to TCSV

    Cropland: Surplus or Deficit? From the Perspective of Meeting People’s Grain Requirement

    The quantity and quality of cropland plays an important role in ensuring food security. In order to explore spatiotemporal patterns of the extent to which cropland satisfies people’s grain need, we integrate multi-source heterogeneous data to investigate in which era, and in which region, the cultivated land can meet people’s food demands. It turns out that in the past 30 years, with the exception of the late 1980s, the amount of cropland could satisfy people’s grain needs at the nation scale. However, more than 10 provinces (municipality/autonomous region), mainly located in western China and southeast coastal areas, have been unable to meet the grain needs of local people. We projected the guarantee rate to the late 2020s. Our study concludes that the guarantee rate of cropland is estimated to be higher than 150% in China. Compared to 2019, except Beijing, Tianjin, Liaoning, Jilin, Ningxia, as well as Heilongjiang in the Sustainability scenario, and Shanghai in the Sustainability and the Equality scenarios, the guarantee rate of cultivated land will increase in every province (municipality/autonomous region) in 2030. This study has reference value for the study of China’s cultivated land protection system, as well as important significance for China’s sustainable development

    Synthesis of Pd@Pt Core-shell Nanoparticles based on Photochemical Seed Growth Method and Co-reduction Method and the Electrocatalytic Performance

    A series of Pd@Pt nanoparticles were synthesized based on electrochemical seed growth method and co-reduction method in polyethylene-glycol and acetone solution system. The TEM/HR-TEM and XPS characterization proved that the prepared composite nanoparticles present core-shell structure and analyzed the chemical state of the particles. The electrocatalytic performance of Pd@Pt particles was studied by using the electrochemical workstation. The results showed that the Pd@Pt/C catalyst of different molar ratios of Pd to Pt exhibited preferable catalytic activity and stability for the methanol catalytic oxidation reaction. Among which, the Pd@Pt nanoparticles (Pd:Pt=1:1) prepared by co-reduction method, presented highest catalytic activity, which is 2 times higher than that of Pt/C catalyst. The high catalytic activity produced by the core-shell structure was briefly discussed

    Effects of sodium dodecyl sulfate on nano carbon black-filled cement paste: performance and microstructure

    The conductive potential of nano carbon black (NCB) in cement paste is restricted due to its tendency to agglomerate. To address this issue, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) is proposed as a dispersant to enhance the performance of the nano carbon black-filled cement paste. Additionally, the microstructure characteristics of the nano carbon black-filled cement paste with SDS are explored systematically from the perspective of micromorphology, hydration degree and pore structure. UV–Vis spectrophotometry (UV–Vis) proves that SDS can enhance the dispersion of NCB in suspensions. Adding 0.4% SDS to the nano carbon black-filled cement paste can effectively improve the fluidity, accelerate the setting time, decrease the resistivity and increase mechanical strength. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) reveal that SDS adsorbed on the surface of NCB plays a dispersing role in cement paste. Thermogravimetry (TG) indicates that well-dispersed NCB promotes the hydration of cement clinker, accelerates the formation of calcium silicate hydrates (C–S–H) and increases the content of Ca(OH)2. N2 adsorption-desorption (NAD) verifies that the accumulated hydration products effectively increase the specific surface area and decrease the total pore volume, indicating that SDS has a positive effect on optimizing the pore structure of the nano carbon black-filled cement paste

    Spatial and Temporal Changes of Ecosystem Service Value in Airport Economic Zones in China

    With the rapid development of the aviation industry, many negative effects on the local environment have been reported. This study examined the land use and land cover (LULC) and ecosystem service value (ESV) of airport economic zones (AEZs) in China and assessed the changes in LULC and ESV. The results indicate that LULC changed significantly from 1990 to 2015, characterized by the increase in construction land (increase rate, 68.53%) and water bodies (increase rate, 2.32%) and the decrease in cropland (decrease rate, 4.28%), forest (decrease rate, 0.73%), grassland (decrease rate, 4.64%) and unused land (decrease rate, 6.36%). The ESV of AEZs in 1990 and 2015 was RMB 3454 and 3483 million, respectively, with an overall ESV change of RMB 29 million. The ESV of AEZs is characterized by high value in the coastal area of China. From 1990 to 2015, AEZs with a high ESV were located in Inner Mongolia, while those with a high decrease in ESV were located in the southeastern coastal area. From 1990 to 2000, the AEZs with a high increase in ESV were located in Inner Mongolia and Qinghai and the AEZs with decreased ESV were mostly located in central and south China. However, from 2000 to 2010, AEZs with high and low increases in ESV were located in central China and the south coastal area of China, respectively. From 2010 to 2015, AEZs with a high decrease in ESV were located in southeast China

    Family socioeconomic status (SES) is widely believed to be associated with depressive symptoms in children and adolescents. The correlation between SES and depressive symptoms changes based on social culture and the economic development level. In China, which includes many children and adolescents, the magnitude of the relationship between SES and depressive symptoms and its potential moderators remains unclear. The current meta-analysis was conducted to determine the overall association between SES and depressive symptoms in children and adolescents in mainland China. We included 197 estimates in mainland China from 2000–2023. Among 147,613 children and adolescents aged 7–18 years, the results showed a weak but significant overall negative association between SES and depression (r = −0.076). Moderator testing showed that the composite SES indicator (r = −0.104) had a stronger association with depression than parental educational level (r = −0.065) and occupational status (r = −0.025) but not family income (r = −0.088). Additionally, the negative association between SES and depression became weaker over the past 20 years in China (β = 0.010). Furthermore, the magnitude of the relationship between SES and depression was stronger in West China (r = −0.094) than in Middle China (r = −0.065), but not East China (r = −0.075). These findings indicate that the relationship between SES and depression among children and adolescents in mainland China may vary based on social contexts. It is necessary to further explore the effect of these social factors and the underlying mechanisms.</p

    Livelihood Sustainability of Herder Households in North Tibet, China

    The livelihood sustainability of rural residents has attracted a great deal of attention across the globe, especially in remote mountain areas. In this study, we interviewed 696 householders who were randomly selected from &lsquo;Changtang&rsquo; (also called &lsquo;North Tibet&rsquo;), Tibetan Autonomous Region, China. Under the sustainable livelihood index (SLI) framework, we evaluated the livelihood sustainability of herder households and examined the differences between low- and high-sustainability groups. Our findings revealed the following: (1) The livelihood sustainability of all herder households was generally low; low-sustainability households accounted for 87.07% of the samples. (2) Social, human, and physical capitals accounted for 81.6% of the variance in the SLI of herder households. Less physical capital was the main reason for a lower SLI. (3) Compared with high-SLI households, low-SLI families were characterized by having a higher dependency on natural resources, fewer fixed assets, weaker personal ability, and less participation in social organizations. Moreover, low-sustainability households were more vulnerable to medical expenses. Our study suggests that policymakers should pay closer attention to skills training, promote livelihood diversification, and strengthen social capital security. These actions are recommended for global poverty reduction and to promote the United Nations&rsquo; Sustainable Development Goals

    Geographical Clustering and Environmental Determinants of Schistosomiasis from 2007 to 2012 in Jianghan Plain, China

    This study compared changes in the spatial clustering of schistosomiasis in Jianghan Plain, China by applying Kulldorff&rsquo;s spatial scan statistic. The Geodetector software was employed to detect the environmental determinants of schistosomiasis annually from 2007 to 2012. The most likely spatial cluster in 2007 covered the north-central part of Jianghan Plain, whereas those observed from 2008 to 2012 were toward the south, with extended coverage in generally the same areas across various periods, and some variation nevertheless in precise locations. Furthermore, the 2007 period was more likely to be clustered than any other period. We found that temperature, land use, and soil type were the most critical factors associated with infection rates in humans. In addition, land use and soil type had the greatest impact on the prevalence of schistosomiasis in 2009, whereas this effect was minimal in 2007. The effect of temperature on schistosomiasis prevalence reached its maximum in 2010, whereas in 2008, this effect was minimal. Differences observed in the effects of those two factors on the spatial distribution of human schistosomiasis were inconsistent, showing statistical significance in some years and a lack thereof in others. Moreover, when two factors operated simultaneously, a trend of enhanced interaction was consistently observed. High-risk areas with strong interactions of affected factors should be targeted for disease control interventions
