    Restoration of Spatially Variant Blurred Images with Wide-Field Telescope Based on Deep Learning

    The wide-field telescope is a research hotspot in the field of aerospace. Increasing the field of view of the telescope can expand the observation range and enhance the observation ability. However, a wide field will cause some spatially variant optical aberrations, which makes it difficult to obtain stellar information accurately from astronomical images. Therefore, we propose a network for restoring wide-field astronomical images by correcting optical aberrations, called ASANet. Based on the encoder–decoder structure, ASANet improves the original feature extraction module, adds skip connection, and adds a self-attention module. With these methods, we enhanced the capability to focus on the image globally and retain the shallow features in the original image to the maximum extent. At the same time, we created a new dataset of astronomical aberration images as the input of ASANet. Finally, we carried out some experiments to prove that the structure of ASANet is meaningful from two aspects of the image restoration effect and quality evaluation index. According to the experimental results, compared with other deblur networks, the PSNR and SSIM of ASANet are improved by about 0.5 and 0.02 db, respectively

    Impact of terminal tip location of midline catheters on catheter‐related complications and indwelling duration in elderly patients

    Abstract Aim To investigate the relationship between the position of the midline catheter tip and the frequency and type of complications associated with its placement. Design A cohort study was performed on patients between May 2018 and December 2021 who underwent midline catheter placement at our institution. Patients were divided into two groups, superficial implementation and deep implementation, based on the midline catheter tip location relative to the clavicle. Methods Clinical data and outcome parameters, including the numbers and types of midline catheter‐related complications, day of occurrence and catheter indwell duration, were recorded. Results Catheter‐related complications occurred in 14 individuals. Compared with the superficial implementation group, the incidence of complications in the deep catheterization group was significantly reduced, with a delayed first occurrence time, and a prolonged catheter indwelling time. The results suggested that locating the midline catheter tip in the distal segment of the axillary vein may reduce catheter‐related complication incidence and prolong the indwelling duration

    A Smart DNA Tetrahedron That Isothermally Assembles or Dissociates in Response to the Solution pH Value Changes

    This communication reports a DNA tetrahedron whose self-assembly is triggered by an acidic environment. The key element is the formation/dissociation of a short, cytosine (C)-containing, DNA triplex. As the solution pH value oscillates between 5.0 and 8.0, the DNA triplex will form and dissociate that, in turn, leads to assembly or disassembly of the DNA tetrahedron, which has been demonstrated by native polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE). We believe that such environment-responsive behavior will be important for potential applications of DNA nanocages such as on-demand drug release

    MIIP remodels Rac1-mediated cytoskeleton structure in suppression of endometrial cancer metastasis

    Abstract Background Endometrial carcinoma (EC) is one of the most common malignancies of the female reproductive system. Migration and invasion inhibitory protein (MIIP) gene was recently discovered candidate tumor suppress gene which located at chromosome 1p36.22. 1p36 deletion was found in many types of tumor including EC. In the present study, we will determine the role and mechanism of MIIP in EC metastasis. Methods Immunohistochemistry was used to measure MIIP expression in normal and EC tissue. Both gain-of-function (infection) and loss-of-function (siRNA) assays were used to alter MIIP expression levels. The effect of MIIP on cell migration and invasion was measured by transwell assay. F-actin immunofluorescence staining was used to observe the cell morphology. The activation of GTP-loaded Rac1 was evaluated by Rac activity assay kit. Immunoprecipitation/WB was used to measure the interaction between MIIP and PAK1. Results We demonstrate that MIIP expression was significantly decreased in EC patients comparing to the normal ones, and decreased MIIP expression in EC tissues is associated with deep myometrial invasion, advanced stage, and the presence of lymph node metastasis. Using both gain-of-function (infection) and loss-of-function (siRNA) assays, we show that MIIP markedly blocked EC cell migration, whereas loss of MIIP led to increase in EC cell migration. We demonstrate that elevated expression of MIIP resulted in cytoskeleton reorganization with decreased formation of lamellipodia. We also provide evidence that MIIP is a key molecule in directing Rac1 signaling cascades in EC. Ectopically expressed MIIP consistently competed with Rac1-GTP for binding with the PAK1 p21-binding domain. Our data show that MIIP and PAK1 bind each other and that a C-terminal polyproline domain of MIIP is required for PAK1 binding. Deletion of the PAK1-binding domain of MIIP reduced cell migration-inhibiting activity. Conclusions MIIP may function as a tumor suppressor gene for endometrial carcinoma. MIIP attenuates Rac1 signaling through a protein interaction network, and loss of this regulator may contribute to EC metastasis
