Galois Groups and Genera of a kind of Quasi-cyclotomic Function Fields

We call a (q-1)-th Kummer extension of a cyclotomic function field a quasi-cyclotomic function field if it is Galois, but non-abelian, over the rational function field with the constant field of q elements. In this paper, we determine the structure of the Galois groups of a kind of quasi-cyclotomic function fields over the base field. We also give the genus formulae of them.Comment: Accepted by Journal of Number Theor

Experimental non-local generation of entanglement from independent sources

We experimentally demonstrate a non-local generation of entanglement from two independent photonic sources in an ancilla-free process . Two bosons (photons) are entangled in polarization space by steering into a novel interferometer setup, in which they have never meet each other. The entangled photons are delivered to polarization analyzers in different sites, respectively, and a non-local interaction is observed. Entanglement is further verified by the way of the measured violation of a CHSH type Bell's inequality with S-values of 2.54 and 27 standard deviations. Our results will shine a new light into the understanding on how quantum mechanics works, have possible philosophic consequences on the one hand and provide an essential element for quantum information processing on the other hand. Potential applications of our results are briefly discussed.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

The Gender Trouble and Body Narrative in Jeanette Winterson’s Novel Oranges Are Not the Only Fruits

As one of “the 20 Best of Young British Writers” coined by the famous literary magazine Grant, Jeanette Winterson has been well-known for her lesbian themes. Her semi-autobiographical novel Oranges Are Not the Only Fruits is the most controversial one. In this novel, Winterson deconstruct the binary opposition system dominated in the heterosexual world, reconstructed a liberated view on love in the homosexual world and presented her strong feminist thoughts through the exploration of the gender troubles. In examining these issues, the novel presents body as the object, content and medium of narration, and explores body narratives in constructing alternative views on love and gender.
