Text-driven Editing of 3D Scenes without Retraining
Numerous diffusion models have recently been applied to image synthesis and
editing. However, editing 3D scenes is still in its early stages. It poses
various challenges, such as the requirement to design specific methods for
different editing types, retraining new models for various 3D scenes, and the
absence of convenient human interaction during editing. To tackle these issues,
we introduce a text-driven editing method, termed DN2N, which allows for the
direct acquisition of a NeRF model with universal editing capabilities,
eliminating the requirement for retraining. Our method employs off-the-shelf
text-based editing models of 2D images to modify the 3D scene images, followed
by a filtering process to discard poorly edited images that disrupt 3D
consistency. We then consider the remaining inconsistency as a problem of
removing noise perturbation, which can be solved by generating training data
with similar perturbation characteristics for training. We further propose
cross-view regularization terms to help the generalized NeRF model mitigate
these perturbations. Our text-driven method allows users to edit a 3D scene
with their desired description, which is more friendly, intuitive, and
practical than prior works. Empirical results show that our method achieves
multiple editing types, including but not limited to appearance editing,
weather transition, material changing, and style transfer. Most importantly,
our method generalizes well with editing abilities shared among a set of model
parameters without requiring a customized editing model for some specific
scenes, thus inferring novel views with editing effects directly from user

Generation of a Homozygous Knock-in Human Embryonic Stem Cell Line Expressing Meos4b-tagged Ctr1
Copper transporter 1 (CTR1) is the major membrane protein responsible for cellular copper (Cu) uptake and mediates cellular copper homeostasis. To elucidate CTR1\u27s behavior using imaging approaches, we generated a homozygous knock-in human embryonic stem cell (hESC) clone expressing photoconvertible fluorescence protein mEos4b-tagged endogenous CTR1 using CRISPR-Cas9 mediated homologous recombination. The engineered cells express functional CTR1-mEos4b fusion and have normal stem cell morphology. They remain pluripotent and can be differentiated into all three germ layers in vitro. This resource allows the study of CTR1 at an endogenous level in different cellular contexts using microscopy
A way to learn : the service learning between Indonesia (SCU) and Taiwan (FJU)
Gills and Maclellan (2010) conducted a 1999-2009 systemic literature review service learning in nursing education, outcomes suggest that students who participate in international programs having an increase in self-perceived cultural competency, encouraging lifelong commitment to continue serving, developing students into a positive force of change in healthcare abroad and within their own communities. The purpose of this study is in depth to analyze nursing students\u27 learning process through the service learning.
Design: Action research method was used and a total number of 6 nursing students were participated in this study. One Taiwanese and one Indonesia students as a team shared a bed and lived with Indonesia family for 11 days. During this period students logs, field notes, reflection sheets and team working records as raw materials together to be used as content analysis, the reliability and validity is based on Lincoln and Guba (1985) proposed vetting reliability and validity of qualitative research methods.
Results: After intensively living and working with Indonesia students and family in this international service learning program, the results come up as an agricultural process. It is improving students\u27 cross-culture communication in spread period. Follow by cultivated period that participants established cross-cultural sensitivities and culture respect. In the final harvest period, through the serving activities, participant fulfilled the role as givers and receivers among Indonesia partners and families and able to understand the meaning of love.
In conclusion, this study confirmed the previous studies outcomes and showed the dynamic interaction amongst nursing students who joined service learning, and enhanced students understanding among the cultures, with the respect on inner or outer levels
The Efficacy and Safety of a Fixed Combination of Chinese Herbal Medicine in Chronic Urticaria: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Pilot Study
Background: Chronic urticaria is a bothersome skin disease, and Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) is commonly used as adjuvant therapy. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of the mixture of two CHM formula, Xiao-Feng-San (XFS) and Qing-Shang-Fang-Feng-Tang (QSFFT), in treating urticaria through a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial.Methods: 78 participants entered the screening phase between November 2012 and August 2015. Participants were randomly and equally allocated in either CHM group (2 gm XFS and 2 gm QSFFT four times a day and 5 mg levocetirizine once daily for 28 days followed by 5 mg levocetirizine once daily alone for 28 days) or control group (placebo and 5 mg levocetirizine daily followed by 5 mg levocetirizine once daily for 28 days alone). Symptom improvement was set as the primary outcome, and the influence on sleep quality and changes in serum markers were used as secondary outcomes. Per protocol design was applied to the final analysis.Results: A total of 56 participants entered the final analysis stage. Participants in the CHM group had more prominent symptom relief on day 56 (the weekly urticaria activity score, UAS7, as 9.9 ± 9.2 vs. 15.6 ± 10.8, p = 0.038). In the CHM group, participants' symptom severity reduced progressively (trend analysis, p < 0.001) while the decreasing trend was less favored in the control group (trend analysis, p = 0.056). The life quality improved gradually in both groups, while the differences between CHM and control groups were statistically insignificant. For urticaria-related cytokines, interferon-γ seemed to decrease positively in the CHM group (about 30.8% reduction from baseline, trend analysis p = 0.013). For safety issue, the CHM prescription was well-tolerated with no noticeable long-term side effects when compared to the control group. At 6-month follow-up of symptom changes after the end of the trial, the CHM group participants reported positive results in no recurrence or ≥50% improvement (36.3% in CHM group vs. 20% in Control group, p = 0.103).Conclusions: The combination of XFS and QSFFT tended to be feasible and tolerable adjuvant therapy for urticaria in addition to standard therapy. However, larger study population with longer follow-up duration may be still needed.Trial registration: NCT01715740 (ClinicalTrials.gov)
Technology-Enhanced Learning for Graduate Students: Exploring the Correlation of Media Richness and Creativity of Computer-Mediated Communication and Face-to-Face Communication
The objective of the research was to explore and compare the differences in potential creative thinking that media richness had on learners in creativity training through two different types of communication formats; computer-mediated communication, and face-to-face communication.
The results indicated that the computer-mediated communication format performed better than the face-to-face in terms of the fluency, flexibility, and originality dimensions of creative thinking. The computer-mediated communication format also had a greater level of media richness perception (i.e., use of multiple cues, language diversity, and personal focus of the medium) than the face-to-face format. In terms of the combined effectiveness of computer-mediated communication, and face-to-face formats, the use of multiple cues, language variety of perception of media richness had direct effects on the fluency of creativity. There was also a positive correlation between the elaboration of creativity and the use of multiple cues, language variety, and personal focus of the medium in the perception of media richness. Furthermore, language variety was correlated with creativity and flexibility. The research findings highlighted the importance of the availability of immediate feedback on media richness, whereas creativity cognition should focus on the breadth and depth of the information, which contributes to enhancing the creativity of individuals or a group of employees
Point-of-Care Ultrasound in Airway Evaluation and Management: A Comprehensive Review
Airway management is a common and critical procedure in acute settings, such as the Emergency Department (ED) or Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of hospitals. Many of the traditional physical examination methods have limitations in airway assessment. Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) has emerged as a promising tool for airway management due to its familiarity, accessibility, safety, and non-invasive nature. It can assist physicians in identifying relevant anatomy of the upper airway with objective measurements of airway parameters, and it can guide airway interventions with dynamic real-time images. To date, ultrasound has been considered highly accurate for assessment of the difficult airway, confirmation of proper endotracheal intubation, prediction of post-extubation laryngeal edema, and preparation for cricothyrotomy by identifying the cricothyroid membrane. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the key evidence on the use of ultrasound in airway management. Databases including PubMed and Embase were systematically searched. A search strategy using a combination of the term ultrasound combined with several search terms, i.e., probe , anatomy , difficult airway , endotracheal intubation , laryngeal edema , and cricothyrotomy was performed. In conclusion, POCUS is a valuable tool with multiple applications ranging from pre- and post-intubation management. Clinicians should consider using POCUS in conjunction with traditional exam techniques to manage the airway more efficiently in the acute setting
