    The linear and nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings model for the multiphoton transition

    With the Jaynes-Cummings model, we have studied the atom and light field quantum entanglement of multiphoton transition, and researched the effect of initial state superposition coefficient C1C_{1}, the transition photon number NN, the quantum discord δ\delta and the nonlinear coefficient χ\chi on the quantum entanglement degrees.     In the title compound, [Mn2(C8H3NO6)2(C12H8N2)2(H2O)4], the MnII atom in the centrosymmetric binuclear unit has a distorted octa­hedral geometry and is coordinated by a chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, two monodentate carboxyl­ate anions from two 4-nitro­phthalates and two coordinated water mol­ecules. The two MnII ions in the mol­ecule are bridged by two 4-nitro­phthalate anions, both in a bis-monodentate mode, which finally leads to the formation of the binuclear unit. Intra­molecular O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated and uncoordinated O atoms of one monodentate carboxyl­ate group and the corresponding coordinated water mol­ecules result in an eight-membered and two six-membered rings. In the crystal structure, inter­molecular O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the dinuclear mol­ecules into supra­molecular chains propagating parallel to [100]

    The ADH1B Arg47His polymorphism in East Asian populations and expansion of rice domestication in history

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The emergence of agriculture about 10,000 years ago marks a dramatic change in human evolutionary history. The diet shift in agriculture societies might have a great impact on the genetic makeup of Neolithic human populations. The regionally restricted enrichment of the class I alcohol dehydrogenase sequence polymorphism (ADH1BArg47His) in southern China and the adjacent areas suggests Darwinian positive selection on this genetic locus during Neolithic time though the driving force is yet to be disclosed.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>We studied a total of 38 populations (2,275 individuals) including Han Chinese, Tibetan and other ethnic populations across China. The geographic distribution of the ADH1B*47His allele in these populations indicates a clear east-to-west cline, and it is dominant in south-eastern populations but rare in Tibetan populations. The molecular dating suggests that the emergence of the ADH1B*47His allele occurred about 10,000~7,000 years ago.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>We present genetic evidence of selection on the ADH1BArg47His polymorphism caused by the emergence and expansion of rice domestication in East Asia. The geographic distribution of the ADH1B*47His allele in East Asia is consistent with the unearthed culture relic sites of rice domestication in China. The estimated origin time of ADH1B*47His allele in those populations coincides with the time of origin and expansion of Neolithic agriculture in southern China.</p

    Integrated Wavelength-Tunable Light Source for Optical Gas Sensing Systems

    A compact instrument consisting of a distributed feedback laser (DFB) at 1.65 μm was developed as a light source for gas sensing systems using tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) technique. The wavelength of laser is tuned by adjusting the laser working temperature and injection current, which are performed by self-developed temperature controller and current modulator respectively. Stability test shows the fluctuation of the laser temperature is within the range of ±0.02°C. For gas detection experiments, the wavelength is tuned around the gas absorption line by adjusting laser temperature and is then shifted periodically to scan across the absorption line by the laser current modulator, which generates a 10 Hz saw wave signal. In addition, the current modulator is able to generate sine wave signal for gas sensing systems using wavelength modulation spectroscopy (WMS) technique involving extraction of harmonic signals. The spectrum test proves good stability that the spectrum was measured 6 times every 10 minutes at the constant temperature and current condition. This standalone instrument can be applied as a light source for detection systems of different gases by integrating lasers at corresponding wavelength
