Corrosion Inhibition of Carbon Steel in Chloride and Sulfate Solutions

ABSTRACT Corrosion is a major problem in industry and in infrastructure; a huge sum of expenditure every year is spent on preventing, retarding, and repairing its damages. This work studies the engineering of an inhibitor for carbon steel metal used in the cooling systems containing high concentration of chloride and sulfate ions. For this purpose, the synergy between the dichromate, molybdate and nitrite inhibitors is examined and optimized to the best results.
