Learning to Select Bi-Aspect Information for Document-Scale Text Content Manipulation
In this paper, we focus on a new practical task, document-scale text content
manipulation, which is the opposite of text style transfer and aims to preserve
text styles while altering the content. In detail, the input is a set of
structured records and a reference text for describing another recordset. The
output is a summary that accurately describes the partial content in the source
recordset with the same writing style of the reference. The task is
unsupervised due to lack of parallel data, and is challenging to select
suitable records and style words from bi-aspect inputs respectively and
generate a high-fidelity long document. To tackle those problems, we first
build a dataset based on a basketball game report corpus as our testbed, and
present an unsupervised neural model with interactive attention mechanism,
which is used for learning the semantic relationship between records and
reference texts to achieve better content transfer and better style
preservation. In addition, we also explore the effectiveness of the
back-translation in our task for constructing some pseudo-training pairs.
Empirical results show superiority of our approaches over competitive methods,
and the models also yield a new state-of-the-art result on a sentence-level
dataset.Comment: accepted by AAAI202
A prediction model for N2 disease in T1 non–small cell lung cancer
ObjectiveControversy remains over the routine use of mediastinoscopy or positron emission tomography in T1 non–small cell lung cancer without lymph node enlargement on computed tomography because the risk of N2 involvement is comparatively low. We aimed to develop a prediction model for N2 disease in cT1N0 non–small cell lung cancer to aid in the decision-making process.MethodsWe reviewed the records of 530 patients with computed tomography–defined T1N0 non–small cell lung cancer who underwent surgical resection with systematic lymph node dissection. Correlations between N2 involvement and clinicopathologic parameters were assessed using univariate analysis and binary logistic regression analysis. A prediction model was built on the basis of logistic regression analysis and was internally validated using bootstrapping.ResultsThe incidence of N2 disease was 16.8%. Four independent predictors were identified in multivariate logistic regression analysis and included in the prediction model: younger age at diagnosis (odds ratio, 0.974; 95% confidence interval, 0.952-0.997), larger tumor size (odds ratio, 2.769; 95% confidence interval, 1.818-4.217), central tumor location (odds ratio, 3.204; 95% confidence interval, 1.512-6.790), and invasive adenocarcinoma histology (odds ratio, 3.537; 95% confidence interval, 1.740-7.191). This model shows good calibration (Hosmer–Lemeshow test: P = .784), reasonable discrimination (area under the receiver operating characteristic curve, 0.726; 95% confidence interval, 0.669-0.784), and minimal overfitting demonstrated by bootstrapping.ConclusionsWe developed a 4-predictor model that can estimate the probability of N2 disease in computed tomography–defined T1N0 non–small cell lung cancer. This prediction model can help to determine the cost-effective use of mediastinal staging procedures
Study of High Efficiency Flow Regulation of VIGV in Centrifugal Compressor
Variable inlet guide vane (VIGV) is used to control the mass flow and generate prewhirl in centrifugal compressors. Due to the tip clearance of the guide vanes and the defect of the traditional guide vane profiles, the mass flow regulation of VIGV is limited, resulting in a large waste of compressed gas. Two kinds of inlet flow channels were proposed to eliminate the influence of tip clearance. These structures were numerically investigated at different setting angles. The results show that the improved channels not only expand the range of mass flow regulation, but also reduce the power and increase the efficiency of the compressor. Ten kinds of guide vane profiles, including different thickness distribution, camber line profile, were selected to compare with the original one and with each other. In the premise of ensuring the performance of compressor, the best guide vane profile was selected. The results show that reducing the guide vane thickness, increasing the guide vane camber angle, and increasing the distance between the maximum camber position and the leading edge of guide vane can help expand the range of mass flow regulation. The achievement of this research can effectively improve the flow regulation ability of VIGV and the performance of compressor
Integrated microfluidic systems with sample preparation and nucleic acid amplification
Rapid, efficient and accurate nucleic acid molecule detection is important in the screening of diseases and pathogens, yet remains a limiting factor at point of care (POC) treatment. Microfluidic systems are characterized by fast, integrated, miniaturized features which provide an effective platform for qualitative and quantitative detection of nucleic acid molecules. The nucleic acid detection process mainly includes sample preparation and target molecule amplification. Given the advancements in theoretical research and technological innovations to date, nucleic acid extraction and amplification integrated with microfluidic systems has advanced rapidly. The primary goal of this review is to outline current approaches used for nucleic acid detection in the context of microfluidic systems. The secondary goal is to identify new approaches that will help shape future trends at the intersection of nucleic acid detection and microfluidics, particularly with regard to increasing disease and pathogen detection for improved diagnosis and treatment
Effects of vertebral number variations on carcass traits and genotyping of Vertnin candidate gene in Kazakh sheep
Objective The vertebral number is associated with body length and carcass traits, which represents an economically important trait in farm animals. The variation of vertebral number has been observed in a few mammalian species. However, the variation of vertebral number and quantitative trait loci in sheep breeds have not been well addressed. Methods In our investigation, the information including gender, age, carcass weight, carcass length and the number of thoracic and lumbar vertebrae from 624 China Kazakh sheep was collected. The effect of vertebral number variation on carcass weight and carcass length was estimated by general linear model. Further, the polymorphic sites of Vertnin (VRTN) gene were identified by sequencing, and the association of the genotype and vertebral number variation was analyzed by the one-way analysis of variance model. Results The variation of thoracolumbar vertebrae number in Kazakh sheep (18 to 20) was smaller than that in Texel sheep (17 to 21). The individuals with 19 thoracolumbar vertebrae (T13L6) were dominant in Kazakh sheep (79.2%). The association study showed that the numbers of thoracolumbar vertebrae were positively correlated with the carcass length and carcass weight, statistically significant with carcass length. To investigate the association of thoracolumbar vertebrae number with VRTN gene, we genotyped the VRTN gene. A total of 9 polymorphic sites were detected and only a single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) (rs426367238) was suggested to associate with thoracic vertebral number statistically. Conclusion The variation of thoracolumbar vertebrae number positively associated with the carcass length and carcass weight, especially with the carcass length. VRTN gene polymorphism of the SNP (rs426367238) with significant effect on thoracic vertebral number could be as a candidate marker to further evaluate its role in influence of thoracolumbar vertebral number
Over-the-Horizon communications systems for Uavs based on intelligent antennas
Nowadays, the communication links limit the
autonomy of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). In this paper, a multichannel long-range communication link for UAVs with high quality of service, moderate bandwidth and affordable cost is proposed. This link is deployed by using a second UAV as a communications relay and it provides bidirectional coverage for telemetry and telecommand and a high-capacity downlink for video. Our highly compact system can be installed on mediumsized
UAVs for air-air links in order to offer greater flight
autonomy. This system is based on an active circular array of linearly polarized circular patch antennas which are selectively activated depending on the desired direction of the beam
Communication: In search of four-atom chiral metal clusters
A combined study utilizing anion photoelectron spectroscopy and density functional theory was conducted to search for four-atom, chiral, metal, and mostly metal clusters. The clusters considered were AuCoMnBi−/0, AlAuMnO−/0, AgMnOAl−/0, and AuAlPtAg−/0, where the superscripts, −/0, refer to anionic and neutral cluster species, respectively. Based on the agreement of experimentally and theoretically determined values of both electron affinities and vertical detachment energies, the calculated cluster geometries were validated and examined for chirality. Among both anionic and neutral clusters, five structures were identified as beingchiral
The Prognostic Value of Preoperative Serum Tumor Markers in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer Varies With Radiological Features and Histological Types
ObjectivesTo assess the association between common-used serum tumor markers and recurrence of lung adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma separately and determine the prognostic value of serum tumor markers in lung adenocarcinoma featured as ground glass opacities.MethodsA total of 2,654 non-small cell lung cancer patients undergoing surgical resection between January 2008 and September 2014 were analyzed. The serum levels of carcinoma embryonic antigen (CEA), cytokeratin 19 fragment (CYFRA21-1), neuron-specific enolase (NSE), carbohydrate antigen 125 (CA125), carbohydrate antigen 153 (CA153) and carbohydrate antigen 199 (CA199) were tested preoperatively. Survival analyses were performed with COX proportional hazard regression.ResultsAmong patients with lung adenocarcinoma, elevated preoperative serum CEA(HR=1.246, 95%CI:1.043-1.488, P=0.015), CYFRA21-1(HR=1.209, 95%CI:1.015-1.441, P=0.034) and CA125(HR=1.361, 95%CI:1.053-1.757, P=0.018) were significantly associated with poorer recurrence free survival (RFS). Elevated preoperative serum CA199 predicted worse RFS in patients diagnosed with lung squamous cell carcinoma (HR=1.833, 95%CI: 1.216-2.762, P=0.004). Preoperative serum CYFRA21-1(HR=1.256, 95%CI:1.044-1.512, P=0.016) and CA125(HR=1.373, 95%CI: 1.050-1.795, P=0.020) were independent prognostic factors for patients with adenocarcinoma presenting as solid nodules while serum CEA (HR=2.160,95%CI:1.311-3.558, P=0.003) and CA125(HR=2.475,95%CI:1.163-5.266, P=0.019) were independent prognostic factors for patients with adenocarcinoma featured as ground glass opacities.ConclusionsThe prognostic significances of preoperative serum tumor markers in non-small cell lung cancer were associated with radiological features and histological types
