Bulk U(1) Messenger
We propose a new U(1) gauge interaction in the bulk in higher dimensional
spacetime, which transmits supersymmetry-breaking effects on the hidden brane
to the observable our brane. We find that rather small gauge coupling constant
of U(1)_{bulk}, , is required for a
successful phenomenology. This result implies the compactification length
of the extra dimension to be for
(4+1)-dimensional spacetime. This large compactification length is a
crucial ingredient to suppress unwanted flavor-changing neutral currents and
hence our proposal is very consistent with the Randall-Sundrum brane-world
scenario.Comment: 9 pages, Late
Cystitis related with systemic lupus erythematosis (SLE) is termed as lupus cystitis. It is a subtype of SLE in which gastrointestinal and bladder symptoms are prominent and it usually manifests with other symptoms of SLE. We present a case in a 37-year-old woman whose sole complaint was the severe urinary symptoms. A biopsy of the bladder showed inflammation in the submucosa and the finding of vasculitis. An autoimmune disease was suspected from the blood serum sample. A further laboratory study was performed and she was diagnosed with SLE and lupus cystitis. Prompt therapy with corticosteroids resulted in the improvement of the severe bladder symptoms
Posterior maxillary alveolar vertical distraction osteogenesis by bi-directional distractor
AbstractA patient with severe posterior maxillary hypoplasia was simulated using a 3-dimensional model by rapid prototyping, and segmental vertical distraction osteogenesis was planned to advance the posterior maxillary segment. The bi-directional distractor was adapted to the alveolar ridge and zygomatic buttress. After a 7-day latency period, we started distraction at a rate of 0.35mm every 12h. 12mm of advancement of the posterior maxillary segment was achieved. This distraction osteogenesis using a bi-directional distractor with proper therapeutic planning and good surgical technique will help ensure adequate vector control to predictably regenerate the hard and soft tissues during alveolar distraction
Comparison of crystal structures and effects of Co substitution in a new member of Fe-1111 superconductor family AeFeAsF(Ae = Ca and Sr): a possible candidate for higher Tc superconductor
We refined crystal structures of newly found members of the Fe-1111
superconductor family, CaFe\_{1-x}Co\_{x}AsF and SrFe\_{1-x}Co\_{x}AsF (x = 0,
0.06, 0.12) by powder synchrotron X-ray diffraction analysis. The tetragonal to
orthorhombic phase transitions were observed at ~120 K for unsubstituted
CaFeAsF and at ~180 K for unsubstituted SrFeAsF, the transition temperatures
agreeing with kinks observed in temperature-dependent resistivity curves.
Although the transition temperature decreases, the structural phase transitions
were observed below 100 K in both samples of x = 0.06, and finally they were
suppressed in the doping level of x = 0.12. The refined structures reveal that
distortions of the FeAs4 tetrahedron from the regular tetrahedron likely
originate from mismatches in atomic radii among the constituent elements. In
this system, the enlarged FeAs4 tetrahedron resulting from larger radius of Sr
than that of Ca is flattened along a-b plane, whereas the smaller radius of Ca
makes the tetrahedron closer to regular one, and their characteristic shapes
are further enhanced by Co substitution. These results suggest that the CaFeAsF
compound is a promising candidate for higher-Tc superconductor.Comment: 17 pages, 8 figures, 2 tables, Supplementary information is included

Web-based System for Designing Game-based Evacuation Drills
A game-based evacuation drill (GBED) using the program Real-World Edutainment is effective disaster education. For the successful GBED, an evacuation scenario and digital materials are important. We are developing a web-based system to design GBEDs through community survey, digital material creation and evacuation scenario composition. This system works with a standard web browser and allows a wide range of people to participate in the GBED design process through simple operations
Osteosynthesis for Geriatric Acetabular Fractures: An Epidemiological and Clinico-Radiological Study Related to Marginal or Roof Impaction
This retrospective study sought to elucidate the incidence rates of roof impaction (RI) and marginal impaction (MI) and radiological and clinical outcomes of open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) for RI and MI in geriatric acetabular fractures. The cases of 68 patients aged ≥ 65 years (mean 71 years) treated with ORIF were analyzed. MI was present in 12 fractures (67%) and an RI of the weight-bearing surface was present in 24 (46%) of the potential fracture types. Regarding the reduction quality, 54% of the reductions were graded as anatomical, 37% as imperfect, and 9% as poor. In the clinical evaluations of the 45 patients who had > 1-year follow-up (follow-up rate: 66.2%), 18% were graded as excellent, 53% as good, 16% as fair, and 13% as poor. An anatomic reduction was strongly associated with good or excellent clinical and radiological outcomes. CT was superior to radiographs for detecting the residual displacement postoperatively. Postoperative deep infection occurred in four patients. Three patients (6.7%) underwent a total hip arthroplasty conversion due to secondary
osteoarthritis of the hip. We recommend ORIF as the preferred surgical treatment option for displaced acetabular fractures in elderly patients
