Handling Relationships in a Wiki System

    Get PDF
Wiki software enables users to manage content on the web, and create or edit web pages freely. Most wiki systems support the creation of hyperlinks on pages and have a simple text syntax for page formatting. A common, more advanced feature is to allow pages to be grouped together as categories. Currently, wiki systems support categorization of pages in a very traditional way by specifying whether a wiki page belongs to a category or not. Categorization represents unary relationship and is not sufficient to represent n-ary relationships, those involving links between multiple wiki pages. In this project, we extend Yioop, an open-source content management system, by adding a ‘Relationship Handling’ system which allows binary representation of relationships. This system uses a novel approach by taking into account the linkages between wiki pages and facilitating search functionality on the basis of these links. Use cases for this feature are genealogy, ontology and dependency identification between multiple entities. Multiple experiments have been conducted to identify the effectiveness of this feature. In genealogy, the relationship handling system identifies associations between members of a family and provides a clear understanding of family tree. The relationship handling system has also been used to identify dependencies between multiple entities, for example, dependencies of steps involved in preparing homemade ice cream. This feature helps to understand the structure of the system and navigate between linked entities in a better and efficient way

Take Charge of Your Happiness by Taking Charge of Your Self: Enhancing Well-being Through Greater Self-awareness

The pursuit of happiness is an age-old human quest; so is the axiom of “know thyself”. This book proposal explores the link between these two ancient ideas, relevant even in modern times. Using the backdrop of my personal quest for happiness in combination with findings from various scientific disciplines, I argue that our happiness, at least in part, is under our control, and that self-awareness can be an empowering tool in finding lasting happiness. There are three parts to this book proposal: Part I reviews the scientific literature on well-being and explores answers to the question: What makes us happy? Part II presents a new definition of self-awareness along with challenges associated with knowing our selves, and also offers ways to become more self-aware. Part III provides specific suggestions for people to use their self-awareness to enhance their well-being. The objective of the proposed book is to inspire people to take charge of their happiness by taking charge of themselves, instead of blaming other people or circumstances for their unhappiness. I believe that if everyone in this world used their limited time and attention to focus on aspects of well-being within their control, not only would we all be happier, we may also contribute to a better world, one filled with more love, compassion, and happiness

The Appalachian Art Preservation Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and showcasing of past and present Appalachian artists. One of the ways that we wanted to do this was by making sure that communities had access to Appalachian Art and that local Appalachian artists were nurtured. We have a traveling collection of art, currently made up of twelve pieces including photographs, paintings, fiber arts, ceramics, and historic artifacts. We have had great success showcasing our collection in cities such as, Lexington, KY, Wheeling, WV, and Knoxville, TN. We are now asking to showcase our collection at Gladden Community House. We showcase the collection for a month and during that month we host activities and fundraisers to benefit the host site (in this case, Gladden House) and help to nurture the arts

Horndeski Helping Hubble: Towards a possible solution to the Hubble tension with Horndeski gravity

The Hubble tension refers to the discrepancy in the value of the Hubble constant H0H_0 inferred from the cosmic microwave background and the supernovae observations. In order to alleviate this tension, we propose a modification to the standard Λ\LambdaCDM model by replacing the cosmological constant Λ\Lambda with a dynamical scalar field in the framework of Horndeski gravity, which drives the late time accelerated expanding phase of the Universe. With a combination of the G4G_4 and G5G_5 terms of the Horndeski Lagrangian, we show that, it is possible to construct viable scenarios for alleviating the Hubble tension which are free from gradient and ghost instabilities and the superluminal propagation of the scalar and tensor perturbations. Working with two different classes of scalar field potentials and with appropriate choices of model parameters, we exhibit that one can obtain a large enough value of H0H_0, so as to be consistent with the late Universe observations. Since these modifications are extremely small at early times, the corresponding deviations from the Λ\LambdaCDM cosmology are completely negligible at high redshifts.Comment: 16 pages, 6 figures, 1 tabl

Kata Kunci: Ritual, Seblang, masyarakat Using, buday

Regulation of Stem Cell Proliferation and Cell Fate Specification by Wingless/Wnt Signaling Gradients Enriched at Adult Intestinal Compartment Boundaries

    Get PDF
Intestinal stem cell (ISC) self-renewal and proliferation are directed by Wnt/ÎČ-catenin signaling in mammals, whereas aberrant Wnt pathway activation in ISCs triggers the development of human colorectal carcinoma. Herein, we have utilized the Drosophila midgut, a powerful model for ISC regulation, to elucidate the mechanisms by which Wingless (Wg)/Wnt regulates intestinal homeostasis and development. We provide evidence that the Wg signaling pathway, activation of which peaks at each of the major compartment boundaries of the adult intestine, has essential functions. Wg pathway activation in the intestinal epithelium is required not only to specify cell fate near compartment boundaries during development, but also to control ISC proliferation within compartments during homeostasis. Further, in contrast with the previous focus on Wg pathway activation within ISCs, we demonstrate that the primary mechanism by which Wg signaling regulates ISC proliferation during homeostasis is non-autonomous. Activation of the Wg pathway in absorptive enterocytes is required to suppress JAK-STAT signaling in neighboring ISCs, and thereby their proliferation. We conclude that Wg signaling gradients have essential roles during homeostasis and development of the adult intestine, non-autonomously controlling stem cell proliferation inside compartments, and autonomously specifying cell fate near compartment boundaries

Role of serum anti mullerian hormone as a predictor for miscarriage

Background: Recurrent Miscarriage is defined as three or more failed clinical pregnancies at less than 20 weeks of gestation or fetal weight less than 500 grams that ends spontaneously. Ovarian reserve demonstrates reproductive potential and includes FSH, estradiol, inhibin B, and S. AMH levels. Women with very low AMH levels may have altered folliculogenesis that may influence early implantation to increase the risk of miscarriage. This study aimed to determine the serum AMH levels in patients with recurrent miscarriage and pregnancy outcomes in low (3.5 ng/ml) AMH groups and to evaluate the role of serum ovarian biomarkers in prediction of miscarriages. Methods: This was a case-control study conducted over a time period of 1 year, on 120 women attending the antenatal clinic in department of obstetrics and gynecology, Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital, Prayagraj. The patients were divided into two groups, Group 1 (n=80) included women with previous history of abortions and Group 2 (n=40) included women with no history of abortions. S. AMH levels were analyzed and compared in both the groups. Results: In the present study, a significant negative correlation was seen between S. AMH and rate of miscarriages (p <0.05). Low AMH values were observed in patients with history of previous pregnancy loss. Conclusions: Diminished ovarian reserve contributes to recurrent pregnancy loss and should be considered part of the work-up for RPL. AMH levels in recurrent miscarriage patients were lower than those in a normal population

Background: Out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA) is one of the leading causes of mortality in the United States. According to the AHA in 2013, 400,000 people experienced OHCA and the mortality is as high as 9 out of every 10 cases. Using Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is the only effective treatments for restoring a regular heart rhythm during a sudden cardiac arrest. The aim of this study is to elaborate the importance of using AEDs in decreasing mortality due to OHCA in the city of Pittsburgh, PA. Hypothesis: 1) The AED density increases with the density of cardiac arrest. 2) Census tracts with Low socioeconomic status (Below the poverty line) is associated with lower number of AEDs in Allegheny County. 3) Census tracts with higher number of individuals over age 60 is associated with lower number of AEDs in Allegheny County Methods: AEDs were located through the HeartMap, which is a multicity community improvement project. A total of 979 AEDs were identified. Cardiac Arrest case data were obtained from the Resuscitation Outcome Consortium (ROC). During 2010 – 2014, a total of 3188 cardiac arrests were determined. We used the “American community survey”, 2013 to obtain below poverty line income levels and percentage of people above age 60 for each census tract. Maps were created to demonstrate the distribution of AEDs, OHCA, age demographics, and socio economic status. Association between AEDs and OHCA / demographics / socioeconomic status were explored at the census tract level in Allegheny County. Data was analyzed using geospatial plotting, an analysis tool created in MATLAB. We linearly regressed AED density and cardiac arrests density to find an association between the two, and found an inverse relationship between the two variables (P = 0.027, coeff – 0.003). There was no statistically significant difference between AEDs density and socioeconomic status or population over age 60 (P > 0.05). Result: As cardiac arrest density increased, AED density decreased. Census tracts with low socioeconomic status and individuals over age 60 were not significantly associated with lower number of AEDs. Preventing mortality due to OHCA with a help of an AED is an important step that needs to be taken from a public health stand point
