A Model for Predicting Entrepreneurship Intentions based on Social Cognitive Theory and Entrepreneurship Characteristics

    Get PDF
This research studies whether entrepreneurial characteristics comprising passion, creativity, and self-efficacy are significantly associated with entrepreneurial intentions. Therefore, the final year students from various disciplines from a public university who were potential entrepreneurs and have attended the advance level courses on entrepreneurship were chosen for the data collection. Most of these students have participated in the on-campus business related activities and received some experience through these activities. It was found that there are strong positive correlation between entrepreneurial characteristic factors with entrepreneurial intention. Overall, the R2 of the entrepreneurship’s characteristics comprising entrepreneurial passion, self-efficacy, and creativity to predict entrepreneurship intention to become an entrepreneur shows very strong explanation power. It implies that this studys proposed model can serve as an assessment tool for selecting students with the higher entrepreneurial intention to engage them in entrepreneurship and activities at the university

The current study seeks to evaluate the effect of luminaries’ arrangement and type on visual comfort and energy consumption. Two identical classrooms with different luminaries’ arrangements were selected to evaluate the efficacy of the existing lighting system in terms of illuminance uniformity, unified glare rating, and installed load efficacy ratio. DIALux Evo software validated against measured illuminance then employed to assess other suggested luminaries’ arrangement and replacing the existing fluorescent lamp with LED type to recommend the best scenario. The findings of the study indicate that the Luminaries’ arrangement and type are decisive factors that affect visual comfort and save energy wastage. Accordingly, we recommend distributing the luminaries in a way that the number of rows equals the number of columns and consider the longitudinal length of the luminaire to be parallel to the longitudinal length of the illuminated space. Field measurements revealed that the existing lighting system does not offer visual comfort for occupants and simulation findings recommend using LED luminaries in classrooms to ensure visual comfort and save energy wastage up to 50%

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has disrupted teaching and work in the entire world. The COVID-19 reshaped the management of education and work leading to a rethinking of new approaches in the education system or the business environment. A lot of studies and reports were published over the world analyzing and discussing the current situation and looking for solutions and alternatives to overcome this crisis. This paper discusses the impact of the COVID- 19 pandemic in education and work environments in the Kingdom of Bahrain using the survey method. Also, it reviewed the precautionary measures that were taken by the Kingdom to confront this dangerous pandemic. In addition, it discussed the use of digital tools and technology, which will help to overcome the problems initiated during the pandemic. An online survey was performed by distributing 12 research questions to different people in the Kingdom of Bahrain. 210 answered the questionnaire, and the data were analyzed with statistical software. Overall findings of this study indicated that the online learning transition in the Kingdom of Bahrain was successful because most of the respondents agreed with the use of online learning. Moreover, the respondents who had jobs revealed that COVID-19 affected their work

Neuro-Fuzzy SVD Technique for Image Recognition and Safety in Construction Site

This paper presents a novel computer vision technique of intelligent recognition of safety in construction sites. The proposed technique relies on a new methodology for Neuro-Fuzzy Singular Value Decomposition (NFSVD). This methodology utilized unmanned safety worker’s wears. Where within a construction site entranced a multi-camera is used and fixed on a special frame inside the security Cabin. Before the workers allowed for entering the construction site, an automatic detecting, and an intelligent matching system has the ability to recognize the worker’s dress shapes and colors through a multi snap image. To improve the success of this methodology, the proposed technique empirically investigated, analyzed and verified to check the image frame quality, accept and reject indication, real-time complexity, diffusion, confusion and PSNR. The results performed by this technique demonstrated the robustness and reliability of this methodology for safety in the construction field

Project-based Online Learning of Practical Engineering Course throughout COVID-19 Pandemic: A Case Study Analysis of MEP Electrical Systems Design Using Revit

In this paper, we will present our experiences and results in delivering and developing the course assessments of the engineering practical course. Moreover, we will compare and discuss the course assessment type of the engineering practical courses between the physical classes and the online classes, because we suffer in our distance learning during Covid-19 pandemic since we transferred to distance learning in February 2020 in the kingdom of Bahrain. In my last class in spring semester, I used to change my course assessments by adding the project-based assessment with 55% grade, keeping the rest of the grades for assignment, quiz, written exams and students class participation. Therefore, I can assess my students gradually using a well-defined Rubrics and I can determine the student project progression and implementation, then I can follow up and give them my feedback to enhance the project requirements and finally to achieve the course outcomes. The student project has several-linked course ILOs, and it can be implemented within three steps under the observation of the instructor. The project began with an introduction of the design concepts of a specific residential plan selected by the student, and then started to apply the architectural plan using Revit, finally create the electrical plan using MEP facilities in Revit. This modification in course assessment is very important; I consider it a successful way especially during the current situation of covid-19 pandemic after most of the educational institutions converted to distance learning. This situation needs more important requirements, not only improving the program infrastructure, but also developing your course specification which involves several aspects, such as the course ILOs, course assessment, teaching methods, course materials and learning resources
