The Energy of the Gamma Metric in the M{\o}ller Prescription

We obtain the energy distribution of the gamma metric using the energy-momentum complex of M{\o}ller. The result is the same as obtained by Virbhadra in the Weinberg prescription

One dimensional strongly interacting Luttinger liquid of lattice spinless fermions

The spinless fermion model with hard core repulsive potential extended on a few lattice sites is considered. The Luttinger liquid behaviour is studied for the different values of a hard core radius. A critical exponent of the one particle correlation function for arbitrary electron density and coupling constant are obtained.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, Late

Spinless Calogero-Sutherland model with twisted boundary condition

In this work, the spinless Calogero-Sutherland model with twisted boundary condition is studied. The ground state wavefunctions, the ground state energies, the full energy spectrum are provided in details.Comment: preprint of ETH-L, appearing in recent PR

The low-energy theory for the Bose-Hubbard model and the normal ground state of bosons

A bosonic realization of the SU(2) Lie algebra and of its vector representation is constructed, and an effective low-energy description of the Bose-Hubbard model in the form of anisotropic theory of quantum rotors is proposed and discussed. A possibility of a normal zero-temperature bosonic phase with neither crystalline nor superfluid order around the tip of the checkerboard-solid lobe at half-integer fillings is examined.Comment: 8 pages, LaTex, one postscript figur

Integrability of a disordered Heisenberg spin-1/2 chain

We investigate how the transition from integrability to nonintegrability occurs by changing the parameters of the Hamiltonian of a Heisenberg spin-1/2 chain with defects. Randomly distributed defects may lead to quantum chaos. A similar behavior is obtained in the presence of a single defect out of the edges of the chain, suggesting that randomness is not the cause of chaos in these systems, but the mere presence of a defect.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figure

Novel Scaling Behavior for the Multiplicity Distribution under Second-Order Quark-Hadron Phase Transition

Deviation of the multiplicity distribution PqP_q in small bin from its Poisson counterpart pqp_q is studied within the Ginzburg-Landau description for second-order quark-hadron phase transition. Dynamical factor dq≡Pq/pqd_q\equiv P_q/p_q for the distribution and ratio Dq≡dq/d1D_q\equiv d_q/d_1 are defined, and novel scaling behaviors between DqD_q are found which can be used to detect the formation of quark-gluon plasma. The study of dqd_q and DqD_q is also very interesting for other multiparticle production processes without phase transition.Comment: 4 pages in revtex, 5 figures in eps format, will be appeared in Phys. Third-Order Nonlinear Acoustic Instabilities in Combustion Chambers, Part II: Transverse Modes

    Get PDF
An analytical analysis has been developed to investigate the behavior of unsteady transverse pressure oscillations in combustion chambers. The model extends the previous analysis for the second-order standing wave motions and accommodates spinning oscillations and third-order nonlinearities. The influences of various parameters and initial conditions on the limit cycles and triggering of pressure oscillations are discussed. Results indicate that the existence of spinning oscillations depends strongly on the number of modes included in the analysis and on the initial conditions. The third-order acoustics has little influence on the triggering of instability. It only modifies the characteristics of limiting amplitudes

Finite-Size Studies on the SO(5) Symmetry of the Hubbard Model

We present numerical evidence for the approximate SO(5) symmetry of the Hubbard model on a 10 site cluster. Various dynamic correlation functions involving the π\pi operators, the generators of the SO(5) algebra, are studied using exact diagonalisation, and are found to possess sharp collective peaks. Our numerical results also lend support on the interpretation of the recent resonant neutron scattering peaks in the YBCO superconductors in terms of the Goldstone modes of the spontaneously broken SO(5) symmetry.Comment: 4 pages, Rev-Tex, includes 2 eps figure

Combinatorial interpretation of Haldane-Wu fractional exclusion statistics

Assuming that the maximal allowed number of identical particles in state is an integer parameter, q, we derive the statistical weight and analyze the associated equation which defines the statistical distribution. The derived distribution covers Fermi-Dirac and Bose-Einstein ones in the particular cases q = 1 and q -> infinity (n_i/q -> 1), respectively. We show that the derived statistical weight provides a natural combinatorial interpretation of Haldane-Wu fractional exclusion statistics, and present exact solutions of the distribution equation.Comment: 8 pages, 2 eps-figure
